"UFC has informed Germaine de Randamie and her management team that she is being removed as the women's featherweight champion due to her unwillingness to fight the No. 1 ranked contender, Cris 'Cyborg' Justino," UFC said in a statement. "UFC maintains that any champion is expected to accept fights against the top contenders in their respective weight classes in order to maintain the integrity of the sport."
The quote in bold is so goddamn hilarious......you wanna strip GdR? Ok whatever, don't talk to me about the integrity of the sport and titles though....

They did go on to say "unless ratings or other financial motives of the UFC dictate otherwise then those factors take precedence". I mean, we all knew that already (see: McGregor, Conor), but they flat-out stated it.

GdR is not even remotely a draw and there is no conceivable superfight for her. Its weird that she's a champion at all. So if she won't fight the #1 contender then yeah, she's gonna be stripped.

That whole division was DOA the moment it was announced. There literally like 3 women in the entire world big enough to compete legitimately at 145 besides smaller girls putting on 10 lbs and competing against Cyborg who would outweigh them by 30 lbs on fight night. Megan Anderson is legit though but that's the end of it.

According to his family he has no broken bones or major internal injuries. But he's still on a ventilator and in a coma so I'm not sure what that means.

This weekend should be interesting. Bellator takes a shot at PPV with some of the best fighters on their roster in Madison Square Garden.

Friday

nothing

Saturday

3pm - (Fightpass) - Cage Warriors 85

Judging by Tapology rankings, this is average quality by local promotion standards

7pm TV - (5pm internet/7pm Spike/9pm PPV) - Bellator 180 Chael Sonnen vs Wanderlei Silva

For the 2nd time in the promotion's history, Bellator will attempt to sell a main card on PPV. The card is fantastic by Bellator standards, and would be pretty good by UFC free TV standards, but is it worth paying for? Well, they priced it $10 less than UFC, so maybe.

Sunday

6pm TV - (4:30pm Fightpass/6pm FS2/8pm FS1) - UFC Fight Night Chiesa vs Lee

After Bellator announced their big MSG event, the UFC decided to step slightly out of the way with a Sunday card. I'm only now taking a look at it, and this is a great card for free TV. Its only a title fight short of being PPV quality.

There won't be much next weekend, but after that the UFC will have events for at least 5 weekends in a row.

I'm slightly interested in Mitrione vs Fedor, but I'm not paying for that card. Absolutely zero interest in Silva vs Sonnen.

Bellator is awful, I'll watch it with no sound because I love watching fights but I hate Jimmy Smith.

Pride was better

In58men 06-21-2017 10:06 PM

Wanderlei is my all time favorite fighter. I fell in love when I watched him fight Kazuyuki Fujita. It was the first time I've ever seen Wanderlei fight, Fujita has a thicker skull than the average human, but Wandy gave no ****s and kept kicking the shit out of him.

Fedor is a monster and I had the privilege to watched him fight Mark Coleman in Las Vegas. He's was literally unstoppable in Pride.

Cortney Casey's "B" sample came back clean, but she is still suspended because Texas is stupid.
