Its awesome, mid length, probably mid 50s.

I would throw a 12v cummins in it and roll coal. I could pull my cars on a trailer and make the bus like a little camper in the back.

Its got a really nice patina on it. Im jonesing

Do it.

I would love to help with that project

So we're trying to sell some of my grandpas shit. Dad found a guy that might be interested in these 2 vehicles. Anybody have any idea what this shit might be worth?

1983 GMC 3/4 ton 454 with a LP kit (I don't even..) but the Quadrajet is still on there. I think you're just supposed to flip a switch to get it back to gasoline.

Sat for probably 6 years, but I think it runs. Pretty straight everywhere. Didn't see rust anywhere.

I think it is a 1975 (ish?) I'll have to check on the year Chrysler New Yorker. They bought this new and it has 34,000 actual miles. Dad says it has a 383 in it. It's really straight and no rust. Been inside as long as I've been alive. But it's sat for probably 20 years. I can't imagine the motor is bad, but I can't imagine it doesn't need something. The 8-track is complimentary.

Anybody have any ideas what we need to get out of these?

SAUTO 04-26-2018 11:16 AM

The car is harder to price. Im on the road but I've got some questions about it too ill ask when I get back to the shop

2WD (I have no idea why anyone would do such a thing)

I think it has had LP the whole time. Odo says 38,000, Dad says he thinks it is 138.

Knowing who owned it, I'd bet it's never worked hard a day in it's life.

You need to give that thing a good cleaning to be able to tell from pictures but imo you would be silly if you didn't get at least 5000 for that truck. At least. I posted pics of a 74 454 c20 long bed in here somewhere and he wants 10000 for it.

I think he's a little high.

The car is tougher. Its nice, straight looking. Interior is perfect.

I bought a 79 coupe deville 8 or 9 years ago that was every bit as clean but had around 60k. Had everything that came from the factory and out all worked. I paid 1750 for it. Is it just missing one hub cap? That could be tough to find.

SAUTO 04-26-2018 11:39 AM

I presume I can make it run, but I don't know for sure. I'm not wanting to put a shitload of work on it. I'd guess that 5000 is for clean and runs?

Hey any of you guys know anybody local who will port heads and put new spings and valves in, and do a good job

Also drove the truck around the other day, carb is super rich and the ****er died trying to shift and then wouldn’t start up again until after I turned the key off, pumped the gas once and then restarted it. Would fire right up then but not before

hometeam 04-26-2018 04:42 PM

Not sure how local you want but PMI in JC or Creasobs racing engines by STL

Perineum Ripper 04-26-2018 04:52 PM

Jeff City would be great, means after they are done I can pick them up and be home within an hour. Since I’m just right north of Columbia now

Did it act flooded? Are the choke and vacuum advance working?

Perineum Ripper 04-26-2018 07:15 PM

I think the electric choke might be sticking some, it seems to not want to kick down off of the fast idle. The vacuum is probably all jacked as well

What is it that you can spray around the vacuum lines to find a leak?

Didn't really act flooded, just on a slight incline it would keep dying, and I would have to go through the shut it off, pump the throttle then it would fire right up

Our 80 had a shitload of trouble with vapor lock. It’s possible we didn’t have something right with the carb. We put a motor in from I think an 89 or something. Either way, We put ours back by the gas tank. The line is pretty easy to get to and it’s away from all the heat.

Yeah it will be a good one, I’m not taking any chances with a cheap one. With my luck I will have to go through a couple to find one that works then it will leave me stranded somewhere a few hours from home in the middle of the night

I am doing all new fuel and brake lines so I might put the pump at the tank and a regulator on the fender. I was thinking only one line cut that way but if I’m replacing everything it won’t matter

I’d really recommend getting it away from heat. I think it will help push fresh fuel through vapor lock if it happens and will help it last longer.

I watched one of those trucks that was a long bed 2wd small block half ton with plenty of rust sell this weekend for 3000.

It was parked on Friday night with a for sale sign in it for 3000 and sold for that Saturday morning.

hometeam 05-01-2018 09:54 PM

Truck went back on the dyno tonight, the only thing I changed from the original build was of course rebuilding the motor, and a cam and valvesprings change. I might have said before the 228r made 320/328 something like that.. all we could find in the dyno was 308/309 so i dont know where I got the number from..

So I went from the comp cams 228r - 228/228 112 .588 .588 on PAC beehives

to the Tick Performance street heat stage 3 - 234/239 112+2 .615 .610

...

The tick came made right at the same tq, even though it peaked a little sooner int he curve, but it picked up horsepower ALL THE WAY across the powerband.

The 228r made peak power about 5300, while the Tick cam made MORE power at 5300 and kept on climbing.. at peak once we got it dialed in it came in nearly a wopping FIFTY whp higher than the 228r. Unfortunately it was pulling timing there so we backed it down a bit and settled for about 30 more whp on a safer timing so I could run 89 octane and be done with it.

Really an INSANE upgrade in cam. I know people talk about duration and lift and all that, but I think in this case it was just the lobe design. (Ticks cams are cut by Cam Motion) Technically a bigger cam should make less power down low and pull higher up top, and it definitely has way more top end, but the surprising part is carrying more power across the powerband, and it really started gaining around 4200 RPM.

SUPER HAPPY with this cam. Makes me want to switch the TA cam~

Live in Shawnee, don't really want to go more than 30 minutes. Looking to get interior detailed, get the exterior polished to close to a mirror finish, the rubber black piece under my rocker shined, and chrome around window area shined.

Good question.

There is a place where the front spring perch mounts on the drivers side that needs to be patched.
It had kind of a pocket where the cross member, emergency brake bracket and the spring perch created a pocket that held dirt and moisture.

I am going to cut the rivets for the spring perch out and weld in a section on the inside, top and bottom of the frame rail in that area. :D

Be good as new, I hope.

Oh yes, it's under warranty for quite a long time. A few years ago I flirted with buying an OOW M3 and I decided against it when I learned about some common rod bearing issues.

Kicked around picking up an M4 recently as well. Decided to go with a 997TT instead, just need to find the right one.

The LC is kinda weird in that it isn't the best at anything but it's very good a lots of things like power, interior style, exterior style, luxury etc. I'm really excited about it.

I think the exterior style is awesome and I'm sure the comfort and luxury will be top notch (since it's a lexus).

Ok I need some wheel opinions here.

Looking to go with some new 17" wheels for the Chevy II. Mainly because I need a different offset than the rally wheels and custom offset rally wheels at 17" would cost as much as these other wheels which are better quality.

Here is the car again -

Here are the wheels I want -

The centers will be black I have that figured out but I am caught between -

Satin black center with gloss barrels (barrel means the outer lip area polished in the picture above)

Gloss black center with gloss black barrels

Gloss black center with polished barrels

All black would look similar to this - (slightly different wheel)

Part of me likes the polished barrel but I also really like the all black look.

Thoughts?

(Also don't be drooling over the wife's Honda)

No satin on satin option? Black Gloss barrels are hard to keep the dust off of

Oh yea any combination, satin and satin is an option.

This wheel is what turned me onto the satin center gloss barrel combo. Forgelines that cost $1500 each though. I can get the BIllet Specialties for about half that price.
