Royals might have to trade for another right hand bat if they want to make a playoff push. A team with lefties can really do a number on this team

Isn't it the rigties who are hitting?

Salvy is currently leading the AL in RBI. Not all that shocking when you consider the HR’s and Witt and Garcia consistently getting on base.

Salvy is also currently leading the AL in batting average one month into the season. This IS shocking. Go Salvy!

If he manages to lead this team back into the playoffs in the next couple of years, just go ahead and get the HOF bust ready. Especially at his age now as a catcher.

He might end up being the most impactful player in KC Royals history (outside of Brett, of course)

The Kansas legislation is trying to propose a bill to fully fund a 1B Royals Stadium.

Man I’m so glad we didn’t pull the trigger on trading him last year. At first it was just the sentimental aspect. But, now he’s putting up MVP-like numbers. If he keeps that up and we make the playoffs, it will be insane.

It's May 1 and the Royals are in second place and are tied for the best run differential in baseball. Two games behind Cleveland who are off to a white hot start as well.

LFG!

PHOG 05-01-2024 07:06 AM

Oh, with the win last night, the Royals have won the season series with Toronto with 1 more game to go for the year.

WhawhaWhat 05-01-2024 07:53 AM

Afternoon baseball today as well. 3:07 EDT.

One of the Royal Twitter guys posted Salvy and Johnny Bench's stats through this amount of games. Very, very close to each other.

LFG!

Which begs the questions of why & why?

Why is our lineup weak so weak other than Bobby, Salvy & Vinny?

Why in the hell is Cleveland so damn good? Seems as though nobody had them pegged as being this good!

DJJasonp 05-01-2024 08:56 AM

the "above .500 meter" makes it all the way through April, and into May!!!!

Need a bat towards the bottom half of the lineup and some bullpen help, and we're on to something!

Lots of games against twins, white sox, red sox, and A's. They've lost some games to the yankees and braves. So it's not like their schedule has been tough by any means.

(though ours is probably comparable with mets and orioles, but a lot against the white sox)

Only two players OPSing over .700 in Perez and Witt Jr. I have pretty good faith that Vinnie and Garcia will get to at least .750 though.

It's really amazing how bad all the free agents have been though in Frazier, Renfroe and Hampson. They projected to be alot better than they've been.

A large number of regular bats are underperforming their xBA according to baseball savant. This is consistent with the eye test. MJ is.064 below - which I would expect given his hard hit outs this year. Next is Frazier at -0.055, Vinnie at -0.050, Renfroe at -0.048, and Garcia at -0.046. Every royal is negative on xSLG.

Overall, this would lead me to conclude that the royals should stay the course and wait for coin to flip. Maybe that's faulty logic, but it's worth discussing.
