Buh bye twin turbo coyote. We'll see you again in a month or two. In the mean time, a '68 Fastback chassis showed up today to get a Detroit Speed Front and Rear Suspension install. Pics coming soon.

Before anyone asks, no that's not actually the hood for the car. It's a junkie fiberglass hood that we cut up years ago lol. But The Coyote won't clear a factory hood so we loaned the customer this one so he can drive it legally until it gets a real hood, haha

I'm racking up travel rewards and I'm going to take some trips with my wife before we're too old.
With the Z06 top down we can't fit nearly enough luggage, even if we order the super expensive custom fit shit. We don't really travel light and don't really want to. We have things that help us sleep comfortably etc. and don't want to be without them. There's only one other car that interests me. A Go Mango Widebody Hellcat with a sunroof and an '01' on the door :-) Decisions, decisions... P.S. I know that's a Demon in the pic but if I ordered a Widebody Hellcat it would look identical. |
Lot of room in those hellcats.
|
You can go grab you one of those TrackHawks from Jeep with the Hellcat engine in it. Lots of room for all your shit in there
|
Anyone have a carfox act still??

Last weekend I got to take a Lamborghini Gallardo 11 laps around this track:
https://www.motorsportranch.com/imag...Layout-1-3.jpg Lambos are tiny. I was quite uncomfortable inside as my head touched the roof (I'm a tallish 6'2") and my knees were hiked up kind of high. That car was incredibly sticky. I was able to take turns very fast with no skid or body roll and it put down the power quite nicely when accelerating. I had a very fun time. The instructor liked me because I wasn't tentative like most drivers usually are. My fastest lap was 1:23.15 (there was some dampness at the bottom of one of the hills that slowed me a bit). It was difficult to get some of the apexing down properly on the bigger hairpin turn. Posted via Mobile Device |
Noice.
always wanted to do that. last time my wife looked to get me a few laps around some parking lot course near Heartland Park Topeka with a Ferrari, it was like $250 for like 4 laps. I just remember thinking 'nope'. maybe if it were on a bigger course than in a parking lot with cones I would do it - and only then if it were longer than 4 laps. I' not 100% sure on the laps, but I remember it being ridiculously low considering the price. I'm willing to shell out some coin for an experience like you had though. |
Quote:
Posted via Mobile Device |
was it a track consisting of cones, or on an actual smaller track?
I think that's a fair price. I'd do $200 for 7 laps etc. worth it for the experience. |

Pulled the Body Control Module out of my Firebird the other day. A hairline crack in the solder. That stupid hairline crack would cause my power windows, door locks and stereo to intermittently stop working. Re-soldered it today and it's going back in the car tomorrow, along with a new double din head unit.

I got to spoil my wife with a new A7 Prestige Saturday. I kinda wanted to look at an S7 but it wasn't worth the extra money to her. This car is extremely comfortable. This is the first new non-Ford, Chrysler, GM vehicle I've ever purchased. Very nice car! This is also the first time I've ever leased a car.

ol TA looks pretty good for a 19 year old. Had to get it out in the good weather today, THOUGHT I was finally going to get it to the tinter but he couldn't fit me in. Got er alllll cleaned up instead

So i didnt say anything about it becuase I wanted to find out what happened, but when I did the motor in the truck I actually bought a complete 'new' motor with all of the stuff I wanted in it. A Local, reputable guy (not MY guy, but another guy that is known around here) had built the motor and it was really exactly what I needed.
Fast forward about 800 miles later and I lost oil pressure on startup, thankfully in my driveway. Turned it off and parked the truck. Well.. we finally got it apart last night and we did find that the top end was as advertised, heads where ported, studs where all there, new liftersall of those things where correct. As we broke into the bottom end is where things got a little murky. Oil pump and timing chain as advertised.. but when we started pulling out the rods/pistons/bearings etc we started to see some discrepancy. First off, the guy said it was a gen 3 motor, but as soon as I saw the rods I knew something was up. The rods are gen 4 rods. Now, im not complaining that the motor has a much better rotating assembly when I thought, but had he opened it up and redid the bottom end like he said, he would have know it was gen 4. "new" bearings? https://i.imgur.com/1sVWMZJ.jpg from january of 2004? as we dug in a little farther.. you might need to blow up the pic to see the damage here https://i.imgur.com/5cdQ20T.jpg Yup, thats a spun cam bearing.. a stock.. unknown mileage cam bearing. FORTUNATELY, the block wasnt hurt, wont know about the cam until tonight until we can get a closer look at it, but I guess at the end of the day I have a 300-800 dollar lesson not to buy a complete motor ever again. After doing some talking with my motor builder (im going to rebuild this motor myself, just like I did the TA, but I still need a little help.. dont judge me!) even if the 228r cam survived, I am going to go ahead and do a new cam.. trying to decide between something like a torquemax v2, a polluter v2.. something like that. Bigger overlap and more power. I mean, **** it. Who the hell tears up a motor and doesnt put it back together with more power? Not me~ |
went with tick street heat v3 5.3 cam. 234/239 615 610 112+2. I think this thing is gonna THUMP
|
Quote:
Whats the 112+2? Does that just mean 114 LSA? |

the +2 denotes that the cam has 2 degrees of advance built in, meaning its 112 lsa but is 110 degrees intake centerline. Im not a genius on camshafts but almost all NA LS performance cams are between 2 and 4 degrees of advance off of the ICL. The farther away the ICL and the LSA are, the more overlap you get, and in the cases of LS cams, that couple of degrees moves the power band down even lower. This cam will max out at about 6400 RPM, which is as high as I ever want to rev in the truck |
Quote:
Rears are 15x10 I bought them used so im not sure of the offset, but they are the 'f body specific' wheels. Race star is based out of KC and makes drag wheels for lots of applications |
Quote:
I talked to my boys over at American Racing (wheel pros now) and they're giving me some offsets that don't jive with what the guys over at LS1tech are posting. Only real way to do it is to measure myself i suppose since there's a lot of conflicting info on the net. Right now im eyeing the AR920's, which American Racing say won't fit. But then again, they give some specific Backspacing's for the Mustangs, such as a 4.75", when i KNOW a 5" will fit. |
Quote:
Thats fairly close to the size of the cam in my 434 but its on a 114 LS so its more fast and choppy with no lope to it. |
Quote:
I have been using this for years http://www.wallaceracing.com/overlap-calc.php Its a really simple and easy to compare all the different cams. The truck cam has the exact same amount of overlap is my T/A cam, and typically idle is even choppier on the smaller motor, so the sound is gonna be wicked. Its 12.5 degrees of overlap, where the 228r that was in it was 7. |

I found out about the truck, called the guy, then went and got it. Needs quite a bit of work but I am happy with it. I wasn’t going to let it get away, especially since it was under $1000 |

My first post in this thread. It has been 7 years since I finished the 68 Barracuda convertible and had to do something.
Been looking at this old 79 Dodge Power Wagon for 6 or 7 years since we bought this place. I only know one way to do it, take it clear apart and build it again. I have about a week in it so far, getting close the fun part. http://i68.tinypic.com/vmzzfo.jpg http://i66.tinypic.com/65xy0p.jpg |

Those dashes suck. Someone murdered that radio hole. That dodge floor mat needs to go lol.
How are the rockers and corners? You keeping the front bumper? I like it. My 72 has a rear bumper that someone had rigged up as an air tank at one point. Ill probably get it working again when that truck gets going. I've been thinking about throwing that 72 engine sitting in the corner in it. I bought that thing on the way to a royals game last year. Might as well put it in the truck. It was like Santa came last week with parts for the 69. Also got new shoes for the black truck. Im going to spend a weekend or two down at the shop soon getting that shit going. If you are feeling foggy you are welcome. I think we are going to try to do some bump and run racing the 28th in fair grove. |
Quote:
The floor mats and all padding are going out next week so I can do some fixes to the floor. The transmission has to come out as well, won’t stay in 2nd gear so I’m going to tear into it and see if I can do a simple fix. Cab corners are good, floor boards and under the floors are in pretty bad shape, rockers need replacing as well. Front bumper is staying, it is welded so it would be a pain to remove even if I wanted to Whenever you decide to start working on that let me know I will swing by and watch you work and drink beer |
cab corners look pretty good for an old truck, you got a ways to go but looks like a solid base
|
Floor pans are easy. What's bad under? The supports?
|
Yeah support brackets are ****ed on both sides, driver side floor board is already been replaced with a road sign. Very shitty job replacing it. But I’m just going to order all new floors and supports from LMC and then that will be done
Already have had an adventure with with the starter. Normal starter for the truck is the staggered bolt pattern. Won’t work, and couldn’t figure out why. Measured the flywheel and someone put the 12 inch flywheel on instead of the 14 inch. So I’m on my way to the store to buy a starter with the straight across bolt pattern |
Damn iirc that also means they went light duty clutch.
And that's the best fix on that cab |
Yeah I’m thinking they went light duty, but I did read that you could drill out the smaller flywheel to adapt the heavy clutch? Not sure on that tho
I have to rip out the trans and the transfer case so when I do I’m going to replace everything back to heavy duty Transmission I’m replacing with a rebuilt unit and the transfer I’m going to rebuild cause it is leaking out of the front output |

So little update on the 77
Need to adjust carb because it is running pretty rich..so while I’m waiting on my carb kit and rebuild kit to arrive I decided to change plugs figuring they are fuel soaked The asshole who last changed the plugs crossed the threads in 3 of the plugs, so guess what guys. The motor I got from Sauto, has Vortec heads on it and they are now going on my old K20. Ordering a new Edelbrock intake to fit a carb and to fit the new heads. Also my daughter helped me bleed the brakes, back drums need to be completely replaced but the fronts I was able to get pressure into them and they have held. So hopefully after new heads go one and carb adjustments and new intake I can get it driving around the property |
Are the rears leaking or did the proportioning valve stuck?
|
They are just froze up, the last inspection sticker in the window is from 02 so I believe it was sitting for a long time. Had moss growing on the truck so a lot of froze up or rusted solid

Yeah I’m going to completely replace everything related to the rear brakes, sprayed all I could find with PB Blaster yesterday. Going to hit it again tomorrow, and I’m going to get a couple cans of that Kano too now.
Headers are definitely going to be going on since it is going to be out of the truck |
Might as well plan on lines too. Did you get fluid back there ever?
|
I couldn’t hardly get the bleeders to crack open so I just stopped messing with them. Lines will be replaced as well. LMC has pre bent ones and I’m just going to order them and all the brake parts. Along with floor boards and everything else I need from them. Try to stay as original as possible

God Damn I want to buy a little bus so bad.
There's one on the south side of 7 hwy two or three doors down from where dart God keeps, or used to at least, his boat. Its awesome, mid length, probably mid 50s. I would throw a 12v cummins in it and roll coal. I could pull my cars on a trailer and make the bus like a little camper in the back. Its got a really nice patina on it. Im jonesing |
