The PFWAA love a good story so he’ll be the MVP.

Mahomes has 13 more years before he’s 38 to win a few more MVP’s.

Rodgers just turned 37 3 weeks ago

Public loves a comeback story and Rodgers having an incredible season so far, despite the fact that I dont rate the Packers high.

Again can the Rodgers groupies answer this question? HAS A QB GONE 14-1 AND NOT WON THE MVP?

History is on Pat's side and so are the vegas odds in most cases.

1998 Randall Cunningham: 13-1, no MVP

2004 Ben Roethlisberger: 13-0, no MVP

1984 Joe Montana: 14-1, no MVP

84= Marino had one of the greatest seasons ever

98= Terrell Davis rushed for 2000 yards and had 23 total td's

04= Payton Manning 49 td's the most ever in a season

They all lost to historical efforts. That's NOT the case this year. It will be interesting to see if Pat plays next week because 15-1 and not getting it would be incredible.

Unusual cases in that In 1984 Marino set the passing yardage record, Davis was only the 3rd player ever to run for over 2000 yards in 1998 and Manning set the passer rating record and had 49 td passes.

Winning record won’t be much of a help as long as the Packers have a winning record too, combined with Rodgers leading in most of the QB categories

Strength of schedule?

It might be that Mahomes faced stronger opponents, but there is the mind set / opinion that KC would still have a winning record without Mahomes as QB, but the Packers would be no contender at all without Rodgers. Rodgers is carrying this Packers team for years, this should not downplay Mahomes abilities and strengths, but he clearely is in advanatge having Andy Reid and a well oiled offensive machine.

The NFL MVP should be the best player in the league, which Mahomes clearly is - not about who is more valuable to their team.

emaw1979 12-28-2020 07:37 AM

After yesterday's performance by both QB's it's Rodgers to lose at this point. Rodgers will play next week in a must-win game and Mahomes won't.

I think Mahomes is more valuable to his team because of the offense both teams run and the line but Rodgers has had a better statistical season and recentism gives Rodgers a big advantage. The Rodgers absolute stinker was so long ago that you really have to dig for it where Mahomes has had some below average games by his standards recently.

That doesn’t make sense. The TD/INT stat heavily favors Rodgers. He’s arguably the better player right now. Plus if we are talking best player in the league, it might be someone like Aaron Donald instead of a QB.

I think Rogers has it. People love TDS.

And I’m fine with that because I think it means Mahomes will have a chip on his shoulder

Again..strength of schedule. Judging everything on a one game bases is simply futile because last week Rogders was trash and Pat lit up the Saints.

MVP is not announced until Super Bowl weekend. If it’s Packers/Chiefs, that would be a pretty nice chip on the shoulder for Mahomes.

But for the earlier playoff games, not sure it matters. He and his teammates need to get plenty of rest the next few weeks, and then come out guns blazing. Could be a very short playoff run if we see the same crappy performance they delivered against the Falcons.
