So Brady is no longer blitz proof? His number are going down but I'm sure he will increase is steroid dose and be fine.

Maybe at first look, but think about it and it does mean something.

Rate those numbers out by taking pass attempts into account.

Over that time Alex has 2099 pass attempts.

Brees has 2685 attempts over the same span. Stafford has 2544. Flacco has 2452. Carr has 2480.

On a per-pass basis Smith smokes ALL of them in worthless lateral passing. With the others it just seems indicative of a high number of attempts.

La Canfora: Giants will trade for QB Derek Carr at The Combine

Quote:

Derek Carr is currently under contract with the Oakland Raiders through the 2022 season, but CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora believes that he will soon be a member of the New York Giants as their next franchise quarterback.

In a very bold prediction, La Canfora asserted the Giants will trade for Carr this coming February at the 2019 NFL Combine after moving on from current starter Eli Manning this offseason.

"I think the big final play ... sort of how you look at their teardown. There were these incremental moves, and it finally ended at the draft when they move up to get Josh Allen. The final one will be Derek Carr and I don't think it will be close to the draft, I think it will be at the combine," La Canfora said on the Pick Six podcast with Will Brinson. "And ultimately what's the point of keeping Derek Carr? And if you have all this draft capital and you get a one plus something else for Derek Carr, which I think he can -- I'll call it right now, Derek Carr to the New York Giants. At the combine."

According to La Canfora, the logic on this proposed deal adds up because the Raiders will want to completely reboot the roster in first-year head coach Jon Gruden's image and that vision will not include Carr. On the flip side, La Canfora argues that everything first-year Giants general manager Dave Gettleman has done until now proves he does not want a complete reboot of New York's roster.

"That makes all the sense in the world to me. The Giants don't really want to rebuild. And they don't really want to admit they screwed up by not taking a quarterback, right?" La Canfora said. "So they trade what will be a fairly high [first-round pick] or maybe they do it for a future [first-round pick] if this one looks like it's going to be top two or three. I think that's what they do and they plug him right in there with Barkley, Odell and Shephard and [Evan Engram] and they try to keep that thing going."

There is certainly a lot to unpack here in La Canfora's prediction. For starters, let's just look at the salary cap implications of a proposed trade like this one and why they will make a deal very difficult to complete for both sides. Carr signed a six-year, $126.15 million contract extension in June of 2017. According to Spotrac, the Raiders have a potential "out" in Carr's contract this offseason when they can release him and only incur a $7.5 million "dead salary cap" hit on his $22.5 million 2019 salary cap hit overall. However, the salary cap ramifications get a bit trickier when a player is involved in a trade and it's unclear how much of Carr's 2019 cap hit (and beyond) would be required of the Giants to take on.

LMAO I don't think Carr has the mental fortitude to deal with playing under the scrutiny of New York fans and press.

Maybe he and OBJ can cry together.

The Giant's OL is a complete disaster and Carr is so good under pressure  . This would be fun to watch. :D

Still have friends trying to tell me Carr is a good QB

“He doesn’t have the weapons Mahomes has!”

They’re right. He doesn’t, but that’s clearly not the issue.

I have two friends myself who say the exact same thing.

I also get “he was an MVP candidate two years ago”!!

And the train wreck continues lol

Ian Rapoport

@RapSheet
Sources: #Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch is out at least a month because of a groin injury. Lynch had his MRI this week. Oakland is on a bye, but the bad news continues.

I don't think Sam Darnold is going to be a true franchise-defining QB but I think he'll be a solid passer.

And he has WAY less to work with than Carr. His line isn't any better, his receivers are potentially worse (depending on which Cooper shows up). And he's looking like a genuine NFL passer with some decisionmaking issues. He's also a 21 yr old rookie.

What the hell is Carr's excuse?

The guy just isn't good.
