Phobia and your stories are amazing. Sitting here waiting for Capone's. I would imagine it will be awesome.

Ok, so I am home now.

At about 11:20 or so, Phobia came up to me and handed me a fat stack of flyers and said lets go to town. I started handing out tons of flyers and eventually was approached by two members of the KCPD. One of them, Officer Moore, told me I could not solicit and asked for my ID. I politely told him that I was not soliciting and that I did not have to present my ID to him.

He again stated he wanted my ID and I once again declined his request informing him that this was not a Terry stop therefore I did not have to produce identification. He stated that I did indeed have to produce ID because he asked for it. I once again declined. He then stated he would have me escorted off the property for not producing ID which elicited the same reply that this is not a Terry stop so therefore I did not have to produce ID.

After a bit of back and forth (10 minutes?), he called his supervisor over. When the SGT came up, about 10 minutes later, he was really nice and told me that I was not allowed to pass out flyers. By that time, it was already 11:52 and I would be heading into the game anyhow so it was no big deal for me to put the flyers away and go on in.

He followed me back to the tailgate where I dropped off the remaining flyers and went into the game with no problem. I personally did not see anyone have their flyers taken away from them but heard multiple people talking about it on the concourse.

So that is my little story. Funny... I thought for sure I was going to get the boot.

The game was so uniformly depressing for the locals, they’d have needed to attend a funeral to cheer up. Fortunately, lots of them were already wearing black. At least those who bothered to show up. They announced the crowd at 63,336. That was comical, and about 20,000 empties short of the truth.

An organization called Save Our Chiefs urged the few who did attend to wear black. “The color of mourning,’’ the movement’s founder explained to the Kansas City Star. Most of the tiny crowd obliged, giving Arrowhead Stadium the look of a mausoleum, only moreso.

The fans came ready to boo QB Matt Cassel at every appropriate opportunity. He obliged. Cassel threw for all of 93 yards before being benched in the third quarter. It wasn’t all Cassel’s fault. The Chiefs had two rookies starting on the offensive line, and no receivers capable of beating single coverage.

The Chiefs' once-raucous home venue was only about half-full most of the game, and a good portion of those who showed up were dressed in black - a grass roots effort organized by fans who have been trying to pressure team ownership to clean out the front office.

"I focus on the game. I don't get into the crowd," Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel said.

Perhaps he should have let his eyes wander.

What happened on the field couldn't have put him in a good mood.

USA Today Sports front page is running a story that shows the Kansas City Star Obit on Mr. Lickteig.
Quote:

"Loren G. "Sam" Lickteig passed away on Nov. 14, 2012 of complications from MS and heartbreaking disappointment caused by the Kansas City Chiefs football team," the obit reads. Chris Strauss, USA Today Sports adds, "Whether that great line was the work of Mr. Lickteig or his surviving kin, we offer our applause along with our condolences."
Strauss passes the story along to Gannett's local and national reach.

Exactly what charges were they going to press? It is NOT illegal to pass out handbills in public (so long as they aren't commercial in nature). As a matter of fact there is plenty of precedent protecting the activity.

For those who claim that Arrowhead's parking lot is "private property".. doesn't matter. Not one single bit. It is considered a "public space" just like a shopping mall... something the courts have ruled on many times in the past.

Now, that being said, it doesn't mean some idiot cop won;t arrest you and then take the heat for it later... but it does mean that you are protected legally if you want to go that route.

My guess is that security started to back down after someone with the Chiefs contacted their attorneys and they were told they'd be in deep shite if they actually took any action.

DeezNutz 11-18-2012 08:39 PM

I had to Google "Terry stop." Not going to lie.

Arrowhead: Where one must have full knowledge of his legal rights. This, my friends, is the Patriot Way introduced in KC.

Scott Pioli is an asshole, and the police were breaking the ****ing law because he asked them to.

This is wrong.

So you need mask to pass out fliers at a publicly owned stadium?
