I think I found a way to pass the time that I should turn into a dad challenge.

I just took my kids phones and made an embarrassing dad video on their Snapchat stories.
It will be glorious when they find out in a few minutes. Their devices are locked down for dinner.

seclark 03-23-2020 06:14 PM

We still play whiffle ball in the front yard
We play burnout, though, and I wrapped the ball with electric tape
I can’t run but I can still chuck it in their back
ROFL
12,11, and 6. They keep coming back

ROFL well played.

I turned off MSM about 2 weeks ago. As long as it’s off. I have my sanity.

lewdog 03-23-2020 09:25 PM

Worst part for me is quarantining a 2 year old. I work during the day but my poor wife is stuck with the kid all day and can't schedule play dates. Only so much he wants to do in the backyard or front yard. He'd watch TV all day if allowed but at 2 years old I just don't see that as healthy. He's asking about the park and his friends, but we just can't do it.

Rasputin 03-24-2020 03:16 AM

So Friday i picked up a patient off the floor he has Parkinson but can do things for himself if he chooses too but i couldn't leave him like how he was and he was inco-operative so my back has been hurting called in Saturday and seemed much better Sunday but not so much tonight I came home early from my shift but hopefully having next two nights off I will get my back back in shape. I've had worse back pain ten years ago before my back surgery it's not that severe but damn I can't afford to miss out on overtime right now but I know i got to feel better. I'm rating how I'm holding up at a 5 because things could be much worse but they could be a whole lot better.

I hear knives and bags of glass are great toys. Smart move limiting screen time.

How's he doing-still all over the place I would guess.

Iowanian 03-24-2020 09:18 AM

I'm trying to work from home today.

If my younger two don't stop arguing over who gets a specific device, I'm going to throw them both in the cloths dryer with a couple of rocks and turn it on for a minute.

Just kidding....kind of.....

We lost power for 2-3hrs yesterday and you'd have thought they were at the end of the stay with Anne Frank by the time the lights come on. The lesson, kids need less devices and screen time, even when you think you're limiting those things already.

They better pull it together or there is going to be another round of snapchats for their friends....

BucEyedPea 03-24-2020 09:59 AM

We lost power last night for a bit too.

The governor just announced Place and Stay for our city so we're holed up. It sucks because we were isolating except for grocery store and going for hikes on the weekend, but now we can't hike. Cabin fever creeping in.

Be nice to send them outside, but I'm guessing the weather where you are is similar to ours...and it ain't helping things.

I agree, i love OKC. Amazing what a world of difference it is from Tulsa that is only 90 minutes away. If you've been to Tulsa you know what I mean, and if you haven't...don't bother.

Adults are like this now lol, the power goes off and we all go ah **** this is terrible!

Hell if the internet goes out life is not worth living for my children.

fact. cold rainy weather is blocking a lot of what they could do.

I have baby chickens coming in the morning(I think) so I had them out learning about prepping for that delivery and they'll have a distraction soon, and a farm cat had kittens they'll be able to maul in a few days...

The weather needs to improve just a little and it will be much more interesting. I'll send them to the woods to "build a fort" or something.

I feel bad for apartment dwellers. My kids have no idea how good they have it.

Personally I'd be just fine with no internet, but no power puts a cramp in my style when the weather is bad(rain)...I'd go to the shop and build stuff but no power eliminates the tools. Decent weather and it's a game changer for me too. Burn brush, cut wood, trim trees, tend bees....lots to do. I"m lucky in that.

This shit is getting old. Springfield MO is doing the stay at home order now and I'm guessing we're next (I'm just SW). I've already been shut up for 2 weeks since my son's school shut down. It would be nice if the damn rain would stop so we can at least walk around the block. Never thought Id get tired of watching Chiefs highlights on YouTube

We do a lot of work in OKC especially for a certain natural gas company that's all over Oklahoma and Kansas. I really enjoy working around OKC plus they have What A Burger and Bricktown is pretty nice.

We have a satellite office in Tulsa and I enjoy that city also when I get a chance to work out of that office. Curious what don't you like about Tulsa?

It seems pretty rough overall and I just don't get a good vibe out of the city when I'm there. Kinda hard to describe, almost like I feel like I should always be watching my back.

The riverfront is really cool though, and I know they've been doing a lot of improvements to it and I actually wouldn't mind checking it out again sometime.

You guys, head over to the media section of CP. we got a whole category in on Tiger King.

Today I got up early and picked up a delivery of baby chics. Then I worked, donated blood, caved and got the kids a pup to pass the time and then worked on a project.

I'm getting stir crazy but decent weather is making it better...wish I knew how long we'd be down, I'm pondering a loft in my shop to store lumber and a pergola on the deck.

HayWire 03-26-2020 09:37 AM

Just got email they are closing my son's school even longer. It will be 46 days (including weekends) if he goes back as scheduled. Can I give a negative number?

KC_Lee 03-26-2020 09:41 AM

Weather finally got better here in Nashville. Sun is out and getting warmer for the next 2 days. Was able to get out of the house and headed to my local green-way for a 4 mile walk. Lots of folks were out enjoying the weather. Everyone was in good spirits and giving each other space, it was good too see.

I started working from home Tuesday. I find out today that one of my co-workers has tested positive. Gives me a bit of concern now. It also pisses me off that we were not given permission to work from home sooner.

After 5 years of searching for this kit, I might start it in my spare time. Still on call and working from home though.

Is that supposed to be hard? Frank's Hot sauce isn't even that hot.

I have. Was there last March but it wasn't in the heart of the city—but outside. I wasn't impressed and the hotel mailed my beloved Italian leather glove to some stranger instead to me. Can't they follow instructions there? I've left so many things behind and none have had any trouble mailing them back. I even use my own FedX account to save them money at times.

Listen to it on a Podcast and see how the stories compare. I listened to it about 6 months ago. Just fascinating on how messed up some people are.

I can hook you up with an opportunity for a business development role where you rake in the big bucks the more other business development officers you successfully recruit.

Is that a decent area? I just checked Google maps and there's a bike trail that goes down through that area. The last time I went riding there I headed north on a trail from OSU-Tulsa, figured out pretty quickly that was not a place I wanted to be, especially by myself.

I finished an arts and crafts project last night and put together a desk for one of the kids tonight, and mounted a scope on something 5ARs safer than an AR 15.

And for your high end craftsmen, don't judge me...this type of project fits my skill set....I'm not a finish carpenter or a stoker for the same reason...my joints are never tight enough.

I haven't been back to Tulsa in more than a decade, so I might not be the best resource. But the last time I was in the Broken Arrow area, it wasn't bad. It's a little old, the roads were a little beat up, but I don't remember feeling uncomfortable walking around there.

I got a lot of shit pulled out from under me with no idea when I will see them. Or if I can even attend in the future.
  • Roger Waters postponed his tour until next year. I have tickets for Philly and Vegas in July and September.
  • I have the best seats you can get to see Above and Beyond Acoustic at The Greek Theater the week after Roger in Philly. No word on postponement but Paavo is in day 13 of recovering from Corona so I expect that to push as well.
  • Coachella has already pushed to October. We'll see if that holds but it will be a shell of itself regardless.
Lifes not much different otherwise. Found tissues finally. Sign said one box per household. It was 2 minutes before closing, I grabbed four. Am I a bad person?

Later.

KCUnited 03-28-2020 06:43 AM

Guy in my homebrew club outed himself as having tested positive for covid. The club is a shared space with 5 brew stations and a full bar and keezer for socializing. We shut it down on 3/20. I was last there on 3/17 to bring a keg home with me.

That makes 2 people I know personally that have tested positive.

Looks great! I have a bunch of weathered pallets out back, I'll probably start building some stuff next week. When I first moved into this place over 20 years ago, there was a clothesline out back and it was a pain mowing around the pole and ducking under the lines, I grabbed my cutting torch, cut the pole off and hit the steel bottom with a grinder.

Turns out I really missed the option of hanging larger items on the line. Yesterday I broke out the air chipping hammer and chipped out the concrete around the base and hit everything with a grinder to get it flush.

I still had the T pole out in my steel pile, so I grabbed the beast and my welder and welded it back in place. It turns out holding a 100 pound T pole in one hand at the base and tack welding it is a considerable challenge.

After about 30 minutes of trying to line the beast up and saying a few bad words, I got the tack welds done and was able to burn some rods and run a bead.

Now I'm just waiting for my vinyl steel core line to show up so I can restring it.

We are kinda bored so we starting making maple syrup from the 1 maple tree in our yard. Sad as it may seem my social life hasn’t changed but it has mostly just affected the kids as they were pretty busy with hockey/soccer/ basketball..

Apparently people are going crazy, I'm getting texts from my sister after a week of working from home that she's bored and can't handle this...

Are we really this kinda pussy in today's world that a few weeks of a routine change has people depressed? God damn find a hobby to do at home.

Yes.

Do the things around the house that you have always wanted to do.

clean/get rid of/improve

At the very least, give the brain a rest.

I was gonna say, this shit has been great for my house, got all my deck furniture set up, got my basement finished, shelves hung, cleaned out my garage, my storage room.

It's been awesome, yet everyone complains.
