I'm guessing they point that guy right to the Challengers they have on the lot.

In general the flagship specialty cars of the typical sellers are usually not profitable for the manufacture but guessing they are with something as hot as the Challenger ones. Sometimes they even take heavy loss on them like the Lexus LFA.

ROFL

It was a mere joke. Bumper stickers are tacky on any ride. I'd never do that, especially on a car supposed to be cool. But the wife and I laugh when we do see it. Especially the crooked ones on nice cars. LMAO

yep, its a daily driver. Will be putting the miles on it. But, it will be treated with loving care.

As of right now these mods/after market items are the ones I'm doing for sure.

Tint the windows
Color correct and seal the paint

Still considering
Floor mats if I get the Dodge floor mats
Badging the spoiler
Cat back exhaust if it doesn't have the low deep rumble

Reminds me of the bumper sticker on a Prius when I lived in Denver. "I get 50 Miles Per Gallon, What are YOU Doing for to Save the Environment?" And yes that was all crammed on a single sticker and not surprisingly that car was parked at the REI.

Did you ask them where their battery goes when it dies?

I would say all of those mods wouldn't hurt the originality except I don't know what you mean by badging the spoiler. After market floor mats is something I do and store the stock originals for when it is time to sell.

Another thing about mods on a newer car is even though you put money into buying them that the car was modded devalues it.

I'd just follow the manufacture guidelines vs. whatever the dealership says. 3k doesn't sound unreasonable for a performance engine like that. You might still be able to hit the throttle and just not rev up in the higher RPMs at full out.

Read the manual.

Many motors have been run and quality tested and don't need break in periods anymore. Some do.

IA_Chiefs_fan 03-22-2015 07:19 AM

My Hellcat, for example, had a relatively short break-in period, which is primarily for the drive train. The engine has a dyno run before it is ever put in the car. I will have to drive 55mph all the way from Overland Park back to Iowa when I pick it up. Gonna be so hard...

Yep, thats the plan. I'll just follow whatever the manual says. If its overly cautious, so what? I'll have plenty of time to see what she can do.

Sure - but keep the stock parts and as long as you don't do too much modding to the internals of the engine, you can easily put it back to stock specs when / if you sell it. My car can go from 700+ RWHP, back to stock in a day.

This is my manual. The two sides to it:
1) The manual says so, BMW knows best, it helps with seals and setting mechanical parts.
2) The concept is outdated and precautionary (and maybe even CYA)...and you especially shouldn't sit at one extreme and baby it for 2000 miles and then run it hard.

And of course there's nothing really proving one or the other, just individual experience.... I'm not going beat it like a rental, but not going to really worry about it, either. Going from a 3 speed to 8 speed, 4500rpm seems like it would be hard to do for normal driving outside of maybe eco mode.

Quote:

Up to 1,200 miles/2,000 km
Do not exceed the maximum engine and road
speed:
▷ For gasoline engine 4,500 rpm and
100 mph/160 km/h.
Avoid full load or kickdown under all circum‐
stances.
From 1,200 miles/2,000 km
The engine and vehicle speed can gradually be
increased.

Due to technical factors associated with their
manufacture, tires do not achieve their full
traction potential until after an initial breakingin
period.
Drive conservatively for the first
200 miles/300 km.

Brake system
Brakes require an initial break-in period of ap‐
prox. 300 miles/500 km to achieve optimized
contact and wear patterns between brake
discs and brake pads. Drive moderately during
this break-in period.
Clutch
The function of the clutch reaches its optimal
level only after a distance driven of approx.
300 miles/500 km. During this break-in period,
engage the clutch gently.

That’s close to a future plan.
I’m eventually going to have to do some body work, there’s rust bubbling out in various spots, so I want to do a complete body off.
B&W Truck Beds is just 15 miles from me and we’ve already measured my Jeeps tub to ensure it will fit in their powder coat booth. So when I do it I’m going to have them powder coat the exterior crinkle coat black then Line-X (Herculiner, Rhino Liner) the interior.

I always heard Line-X was pretty much the best one to go with..for some reason I think there is someone on the board who works for Line-X or isconnected with them..I will try to figure that out and see if they can hook you up if you want..I think he posted in the thread about the guy who bought his son a 2015 Silverado

People are upset. I'm starting to get a handle on the car love. The sinkhole that destroyed some old vettes for example. Most are never going to visit the vette museum. Not many were even aware of what was in the museum or that it even existed. But, once they heard, they were upset. Tbe car geeks feel they lost something tangible.

Even though they know that car was going to be destroyed at some point anyway by Dodge, to have it destroyed earlier than planned by some guy who doesn't really care about the car, roasts some car geeks tires the wrong way. To be honest, kind of irked me too.

Even if its not your car or you have never or will never own one, people feel protective of the classic old cars. And of the new specialized ones being built today. You have many comments in this thread alone to leave the mods off, don't **** with my new car. Same on the car boards.

The education of myself continues to evolve my thinking. I will have to be really unhappy with the exhaust to mod the car that much.

I'd suggest against a license plate that refers to speed or racing or smoking tires, etc., unless you are UTTERLY committed to never driving a foot per hour over the speed limit.

Not a lot of warnings when your muscle car's license says SPEDEMN

I'm likely just no fun since I don't particularly care for vanity plates either. Likely since most of the time I notice them they range from a little to very douchey but doesn't mean they are all necessarily bad. Maybe if you are a proctologist with ASSMAN plates. "Million to one shot, doc."

I have a sprinkler system that will go off on my car and possible bird shit from the big trees in my yard to deal with. Got to do something.

I'm in Florida so flimsy tents will just get blown down onto my car. Any advice?

Yes, I have a two car garage but I'm planning on putting a nice pool table set up out there in the space.

Enjoy hard water spots from your sprinkler. Shit from the birds and a plethora o shit from the tree. Use your garage.
