Marvel has lifted the gag order on reviewers making their comments. Sounds like there is no way you could be prepared for what is about to happen. It must really be something special, when even critics are having trouble putting into words what they saw.

I've seen multiple reports from differing sites that there is no mid or end credit scene(s). That makes sense since there's noting more to continue past Endgame that needs to be set up, unless you're just clamoring for a set up to the next Spiderman.

keg in kc 04-24-2019 02:47 PM

Well, according to Feige, Endgame isn't the end of phase 3. Far from Home is. So they aren't going to set up the end of a 23 movie arc the way they set up the first 22?

Okay. Just seems odd...

But it's already 3 hours long, so maybe that's enough.

sd4chiefs 04-24-2019 04:02 PM

With the movie being 3 hours long I am thinking of wearing an adult diaper so I don't miss anything.

There isn't one I can think of. Just go. You're gonna miss something whenever it is.

Although I would lean toward the middle, and not the last hour.

I actually made it the whole movie. Ended up closer to 3:30 with trailers taking up the first 20 minutes.

I would say it's not worth waiting through the credits.

arrowheadnation 04-25-2019 09:41 PM

I can't think of the last time I teared up over a movie or TV, but I had both tears of complete and utter euphoria as well as tears of sadness during this 3 hour epic. It was a fitting end to the 10 year journey, and the future is bright...

Jerm 04-26-2019 08:52 AM

What a ****ing amazing movie....the perfect culmination of this phase of the MCU.

Man I knew it would be an emotional watch, didn't know how emotional it would be...esp. parts I didn't expect to get me.

Man had an epic theater experience too...was never over the top but everyone popped when they should have. One scene in particular got everyone, including my wife who's a casual MCU fan, to lose their shit in a great way.

It was appropriately epic at times but it wasn't flawless. A bit melodramatic at times and too slow after the opening scenes.

You can skip Iron Man 2 and 3, Iron Man 2 introduces War Machine and Black Widow but little else, and Iron Man 3 is a heaping piece of shit.

So by my count:
Captain America 1
Thor 1
Avengers 1
Cap 2
Thor 2
Guardians of the Galaxy 1
Avengers 2
Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Dr Strange
Ant Man
Captain America Civil War
Spiderman Homecoming
Black Panther
Ant Man and the Wasp
Captain Marvel

Watch these last three in this order:
Thor Ragnarok
Avengers Infinity War
Avengers End Game

Bowser 04-28-2019 01:14 PM

Captain America: Civil War might be the best of the entire lot, and that's saying something.

BigRedChief 04-28-2019 01:20 PM

NEW YORK (AP) — The universe belongs to Marvel. “Avengers: Endgame” shattered the record for biggest opening weekend with an estimated $350 million in ticket sales domestically and $1.2 billion globally, reaching a new pinnacle in the blockbuster era that the comic-book studio has come to dominate.

The “Avengers” finale far exceeded even its own gargantuan expectations, according to studio estimates Sunday. The movie had been forecast to open between $260 million and $300 million in U.S. and Canadian theaters, but moviegoers turned out in such droves that “Endgame” blew past the previous record of $257.7 million, set last year by “Avengers: Infinity War” when it narrowly surpassed “The Force Awakens.”

“Endgame” was just as enormous overseas. Worldwide, it obliterated the previous record of $640.5 million, also set by “Infinity War.” (“Infinity War” didn’t open in China, the world’s second largest movie market, until two weeks after its debut.) “Endgame” set a new weekend record in China, too, where it made $330.5 million.

Ideally, sure, but that's a pretty tall order for a n00b to cover all of those just to see Endgame.

From my prospective, the mandatory ones would be the ones directed by the Russo brothers:

Captain America: Winter Soldier
Captain America: Civil War
Avengers: Infinity War

If I went one step beyond that, I'd add in Ragnarok before Infinity war. Maybe "The Avengers" and GOTG 1 due to some pretty iconic references there.

The rest all add something for sure, and in an ideal world you'd just watch them all, but if you're looking to just get to Endgame ASAP, those would get you immersed enough to enjoy it well.

I still don't necessarily predict it'll break the total box office records. It's got a shot, but I bet it won't have as long a tail as others since so many people are seeing it early to avoid spoilers.
