But but but he wanted to take a "deal" for a winner

That't the positive of drafting a Worthy or a Franklin.
They won't be getting a big #1 WR second contract. |
Mike Evans contract shows the value of tampering
By Mike Florio Scouting Combine is Tampering Central. For some teams that hope to keep an impending free agent, that can complicate things. For other teams, it can be a good thing. For the Buccaneers, tampering might have been a good thing. For receiver Mike Evans to agree to terms on Monday, common sense suggests that his agents found out last week what was lurking behind Door No. 2. That made it easier to take what was behind Door No. 1. And that could be the next shoe to drop for the Bucs. Evans presumably didn’t re-sign without knowing who his quarterback will be. It might be just a matter of time before someone leaks to someone else that Baker Mayfield is re-signing, too. If that happens before tomorrow afternoon, the Bucs can then apply the franchise tag to safety Antoine Winfield, Jr. That will keep all three of them in place for 2024. That likely doesn’t happen if Evans and Mayfield don’t learn, through last week’s rampant tampering, what else is out there. Evans is staying. Mayfield is likely next. And then Winfield, presumably with the tag — for now. |
If the Jaguars had signed him, that might have been enough to get them past KC next year.
Thank god. |

I’m assuming the exception is only due to cheaper rates? (Cause Evans has put up randy moss-like numbers at the same age) |

What “big wins” in Buffalo look like…

Dear Chris Jones' agents, Mike Evans just took a deal less than Cooper Kupp and right above AJ Brown to stay with his current team. You don't have to break the bank with every contract. If Mike can do it and not give a damn what the NFLPA says, you can too.

Trevor Sikkema said he was staying, and he was right.

Good deal for him
|
Good for Evans.
Now let's re-sign Chris Jones and Sneed and draft McConkey, Mitchell, or Coleman in the first round. If neither of those guys is available, then get Worthy and sign Mooney as a FA. At least we can use Worthy as a returner until he's ready to be a starting WR. |

There are premium players throughout the draft and, fortunately, Bert gets that. |
