Reid is a known quantity. He's not going to change. He's not bad enough to get fired, not good enough to get you to the promised land.

Dorsey could have hired an up-and-comer as his next head coach - we could have went for it all. Instead, we have Hunt and Reid and a glorified director of scouting working under them, hoping that we can get a QB good enough to cover for Reid.

But Reid backers will just point to his regular season record. Yep. He beats a lot of bad and mediocre teams, that are 2/3 of who you play in the regular season.

I don't care about that. I want to go into New England or Pittsburgh in January thinking we might win. I want to see an AFC Championship game, at least, in year 5. I want a team that is credible to win the Super Bowl. A Reid/Smith team is not a credible threat even if the aging difference makers on defense hold up for another year. Mahomes is a few years away in a best case.

And we are still laying all our hopes on Reid becoming something he's never been.

Some of you really think winning in the NFL is just some walk in the park. What teams are going into New England in January and winning now? It's not happening. That doesn't dismiss how really great Andy Reid is as a head coach.

You also have no idea that Mahomes is a few years away. No one thought Dak was going to do what he did last year. Mahomes could be ready next year. You just don't know. But you'll certainly pretend to on this message board.

I'm thankful to have Andy Reid as the coach of this team. He's won 43 games in 4 years here. Not all of those wins were against bad/mediocre teams. What a ****ing narrative all of this is.

Too many deficiencies.

I can't stop laughing at people who pushed a Geno Smith agenda here for years that guarantee this shit about Reid.

Geno Smith wasn't his idea, nor was Mahomes.

He's a troll and a minion.

That's not his fault, that's the fault of the GM for choosing him in the first round when Hali had plenty of gas left in the tank.

He wasn't drafted to "sit".

If Mahomes turns into a top 5 QB this team will make a SB

He doesn't even need to be a top 5 QB. He needs to be in the top 10 and make the downfield throws to open up the offense.

Trent Green in 2006: "What do you think about the Chiefs drafting Brodie Croyle in the 3rd round?". Trent: "I don't like it. I don't like it all. I'm here, we should have spent that pick on someone who can help us".

Alex Smith in 2017: "What do you think about drafting Pat Mahomes?". Alex: "He's a quality kid with a ton of talent. We're all competitive in the QB room and anything that makes us MORE competitive is a good thing".

Alex Smith may not be the most talented QB in the league. But he's a competitor, a winner and a class act. For me, as frustrated as I get with the missed plays, he's difficult not to like.

If Mahomes can combine Smith's attitude with his own natural talent, the Chiefs are going to be set for 10+ years.

Never stop laughing; it's good medicine for the soul.

Perfect it today, and you'll be well-prepared for the Reid outcomes of tomorrow.

What about that tells you we don't want to win? If this was said any time before April I would see your point, but now?

FFS

Hunt just fired the guy who did that.

Almost positive Hunt said in an interview he discussed the move with reid before making it.

That was a top-notch retort.

Might be, but that isn't the same as asking Andy if it was ok.

Andy Reid might be a top 5 head coach in the NFL today.

That, however, doesn't change the fact that his clock and game management contributed to a lost opportunity in a SB with the Eagles, and also contributed to the Chiefs losses to the Colts and the Steelers in the playoffs.

Someone pointed out in another thread that Alex tried a couple of downfield passes in that Steeler playoff game, but that doesn't change the fact that with 9 minutes to go needing 8 points, there was no sense of urgency, no consideration that they might need two scoring drives to have a chance.

He's a very good coach, but his flaws just might equal or outweigh his strengths when it matters most.

The official line is that cHunt told Reid he was making the move, but did not ask him for any input in to the situation or decision.

I don't think Reid is a top 5 HC. Name me a top 5 or even top 10 HC who has just as obvious flaws as Reid has.
