All off-season and they couldn’t have looked worse. Jesus, KC in their first game looked creative and good offensively.

He looks much worse than Smith. He looks like his brother did. Once they get like that, it's hard to coach it out of them.

He doesn't "****ing suck", he's just slightly above average. Got a terrible WAR

And QB money is QB money. There’s a reason that us and the Bengals struggled to put enough talent around those two to actually win in the playoffs with them.

Where are you getting this from? According to Over The Cap they'll have 65 mil next year and 124 mil the year after. They couldnt keep Mack because Gruden is a dumbass.

Gruden's scheme is antiquated. He was a decent enough WCO guy twenty years ago, but that scheme is dead and buried. Gruden could make a bad qb average with a conservative scheme 15 years ago. That scheme doesn't make good QBs great, and he's not a creative enough mind to step outside the scheme.

You don’t think that they would have re-signed Mack if they didn’t have Carr’s contract?

I think that’s fairly obvious.

Perhaps not, Mr. staylor26.

What the faiders are doing is a mystery wrapped in an enigma stuffed in Mark Davis' underdrawers.

They are saying, "We couldn't afford Mack." but that doesn't make a ton of sense based on their overall cap situation (as I understand it). Perhaps it was the down-stroke and guaranteed money that scared them away from the table. That might make sense given that the faiders aren't the most well-financed team in the league from an ownership perspective.

Then there is the theory that Gruden came in and doesn't really give two damns about their existing roster and is planning to rebuild the entire thing from the ground up. If so, that means Carr is on borrowed time, too. Gruden wrote the book on ego and bought the first signed copy.

It is truly a weird deal over there right now. My expectation is that things are just going to get weirder when the entire team rolls out the bowl cuts in a few weeks.

Carr would have been damn good if he was with Andy. Just look at how much better Patrick Mahomes has gotten compared to this time last year?

The problem with Carr is that he’s been terribly coached from the very beginning and is now permanently set in his ways. It would be one hell of a reclamation project to change him at this point.

That’s why Mahomes should thank the football gods for placing him with Andy Reid.

This is very truthy.

I mentioned in another post that I'm beginning to feel kind of sorry for Carr. He has the basic skillset; that is clear to most people. I think that, at this point, his confidence is probably shot to hell (or very close to it). Gruden isn't going to do him any favors in that department, either.

In a way, it's a story similar to AS11's run in SF. I'm not sure if Carr has the moxie to work his way into a meaningful career at this point, though.

That is a very eloquent and pointed analysis.

Derek is looking like his brother. He came out of the gate looking sorta good then slowly he started wallowing in the crap till the turd swallowed him up. They both had offensive lines that didnt seem to want to block for him and they both hold onto the ball to long and rarely step into a pocket. The O -line probably hated them.

beach tribe 09-14-2018 05:55 PM

Yeah he looks like David. Brings his eyes down and panics under pressure. Dude does not trust his line.

Eleazar 09-14-2018 06:53 PM

Gruden being a QB guru is laughable

That's true, he is fortunate to end up with a great QB coach. But it's also amazing there were 10 teams that didn't want him, including Buffalo that traded out of the spot. The fact Jared Goff flopped from the Air Raid in 2016 probably helped teams shy away from Mahomes, so that was a blessing for Pat.

The kid has insane talent and has always had insane talent. He should have been the #1 pick. Bunch of knuckleheads in the front offices around the NFL, but then again I guess that's how you earn your spot in the Top 10 of the Draft to begin with. Suck hard enough and you get a high pick in the Draft.
