Haven't finished the season yet, was reading cautiously trying to make sure I didn't get spoiled on anything.

The parts I found humorous about the portrayal of the Ozarks is the geographics of it all. Acting like driving to St. Joe from there is like a quick drive, and even more laughable was the afternoon drive to Kentucky.

Wyatt getting tazed and the kids kicking him was pretty entertaining though.

No she doesn't. I actually forgot where things ended up with her. I thought maybe she was dead or gone. Wonder if the actress just wasn't available.

sully1983 04-04-2020 11:59 AM

I finished this last week and forgot to post my thoughts on it.

Definitely one of Netflix's best original shows. I had some issues with Marty's brother in law taking up so much screen time (and some stupid choices he made thru out ) but no biggie, he gave a good performance imo. Laura Linney should win a shit ton of awards for her performance. She was superb in Season 3. Really no major complaints for me. Bring on season 4!

That still frame at the end...

Buehler445 04-05-2020 11:57 PM

Yeah. Like all the rest of the seasons it was really well done. The writers deserve a ton of credit for weaving in all the innocuous stuff that ends up being pivotal. Like the drone.

I’ll spoiler the rest just in case.

Funny you say that. I always know of the BOLD STRATEGY COTTON PART, but I also didn't know it was Bateman until like a few weeks ago.

Could have done without the granny/teen love scene. Huge flaws in the plot and writing- you can't just add your name on a gaming license-lol, expedite it even. Too much crying, sobbing and blubbering. Ruth was the only redeeming character.

They should probably end this one if they can't better writing.

Dirty politics. But S3 almost as good as S1. Too bad the Rona is gonna shut production down and delay shows like this much longer than usual. I need a S4. Now.

Favorite characters in order
Wyatt (at least before granny boppin)
Jonah
Marty
Charlotte
Ruth (she would be higher but her personality is too much)
Preggo FBI agent
Navarro
Wendy
KC Mob guys
Black ghey FBI agent
Darlene

They should have never killed Del off. He was a great character.

I read today that Netflix hasn't even signed on for a season 4 yet, so I don't think corona is going to impact production.

I’ve thought about visiting the Ozarks in the summer before. Fishing and boating and looks like a fun time.

This show portrays the characters of the area probably a little too well......maybe it’s not a good idea.

Great show. Writing is still top notch to me. At first I was a little skeptical about Ben but he turned out to be a great actor and worth it.

Maybe it's different nowadays but I use to drive from South KC to the Lake in about 2 hours all the time back in the day. Can't say about Kentucky tho that seems more like a 5 or 6 hour thing.

Some seriously lazy writing in this season, combined with some great writing.

In some ways I like 3 better than 1.

The holes in the plot are big enough for the moon to orbit through. Definitely better than season 2.

yeah at first I thought this **** up brother off his meds was just a writers trick to **** with the stars plans during the season.

And that may be true but the dudes acting was fantastic. As he spiraled down, you felt this is how someone would spiral out of control. He was so good with the subtle changes and mood swings, he should get a Emmy consideration.

Netflix announces Ozark to end with two-part final season

Netflix announced Tuesday that the hit series... has been renewed for a fourth and final season. But the Byrde family will hang around a little longer than usual, considering the concluding run will be expanded to 14 episodes (as opposed to the usual 10) and be split in two parts (seven and seven).

Kinda felt like they could get 20 more out of it without running out of gas but oh well - 14 is better than 10.

He'd have been SUPER dead. Probably his entire family.

Had he taken it, they'd have lost their casino license and Navarro would've had little reason to keep any of them around at that point. The Agent painted a nice little picture about how he'll be 'free' of everything, but c'mon - you can't just unplug a cartel.

Arrest Navarro and someone else takes over his operations. In either event, Marty had maybe 24 months to live had he taken that deal and I suspect they'd have killed his family in front of him first.

Agreed. They're past the point where the numbers egregiously don't work. But I'd rather a show knowingly end (rather than abruptly cancelled) too soon rather than too late.

Marty definitely needs her shrewd decision making, but I just don't like her very much.

What makes her character so difficult to tolerate is her absolute certainty that she's right. Every time. About everything.

And we as the audience can see that she has clearly screwed up biggly a couple of times now. And that despite this fact, she continues to operate as though she's infallible.

Marty is almost certainly more intelligent than she is. Now she's a more creative and dynamic operative than he is, but that makes her more of an idea person than the decisionmaker.

She is undeniably critical. As noted - Marty needs her ability to navigate these waters. But she's not a CEO - she's a Department head. Her best role is chief lieutenant and she's unwilling to accept that fact.

Kill them all off I guess. It’s the only logical conclusion for people in so deep and dirty as these two.

Yup. Pretty much that.

Two other characters I was sick of Cade and Petty.

I was really sick of the dumbass brother early on but that turned out to be one of the best acting performances I've seen in a Netflix show.

Same

I thought the brother was well played. Went from somewhat normal aside from the freak out as a substitute teacher, to gradually getting , more crazy as he was off his meds etc. was very well done,

I was so sick of Cade. LMAO. Like an evil Slingblade.

I thought the ending of the brother could have been done better, it wasn’t done bad. I was just thinking he is going to find himself in a ****ed situation with Rose and his sister. Then the cartel would wipe him out simply due to the fact that the cartel didn’t need him and would prove a point to everyone.

I did like the evolving character he played though. That was cool.

I think they did a great job of getting in his head. Not just showing him descending into crazy, it did a great job of seeing what he sees without beating you over the head with it.

acting crazy without being cartoonish is hard. Showing the devolution into madness is really really hard to pull off. It took a wacko in real life and a helluva actor in film to pull it off in Joker.

I’d bet most takes on the guys performance is similar to this boards opinion. Bet he’s getting some top role offers these days.

I finally started binging Ozark last night and got through about 2 and half episodes before going to bed.

What I saw was absolutely outstanding, from the cast, to direction to story to score to overall production quality. I'm going to avoid this thread until I've caught up but I am stoked to see the next 27.5 episodes.

Jason Bateman is just so good.
