Louis L'Amour Luke Short Max Brand Zane Grey Edgar Rice Burroughs As a freshman in HS, I was 4'11 and 96 lbs. Literature was my escapism...so naturally, macho cowboy books. ALL very well written. And Edgar Rice Burroughs... enough said. If you want an all encompassing book, with a strong philosophical undertone, research "The Second Son" by Charles Sailor. 5.0 out of 5 stars Very intriguing book Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2018 Format: HardcoverVerified Purchase This is the third or fourth copy of this book I've bought - it's got a great, compelling story (which is why I tend to give it away). It's a novel about an ironworker who, saving his partner's life, falls 24 stories to the Manhattan pavement, and arises untouched. He then finds he has the ability to heal others by touching them - the Catholic Church (and other Christians) freak out, they take sides about Who This Is, while he just wants to live a normal life. The Vatican proclaims him the Second Son, but he wants none of it ... a very intriguing book, with lots of twists and some powerful spiritual insights that do NOT get in the way of a very good story. Buy it. Read it. |

With all the ways to listen to music so many are dumping their CD's. I still listen to CD's so been gobbling them up at thrift shops/yard sales the last few years, never spending over a buck a CD, have over 10,000, which is a collection.
|
So what kind of music do you play? I'm into the rockabilly and some gypsy jazz but no one plays that here in SE Kansas. I've been asked to join a blue grass band and we had a couple of gigs lined up, but then corona.

I'm good a collecting other people's junk. Mostly consisting of
- broken arcade circuit boards - broken Mercury L6 outboards Was fixing stuff for a long time and just got bored with it. Can only fix the same thing wrong on Williams Defender/Stargate/etc. and Atari Tempest/Asteroids/etc. or put together an outboard motor before it gets tiresome. The arcade thing is showing interest in returning. The old outboard stuff isn't; people don't want to mix oil and gas together and have to turn a screw on a carburetor. Plus the ethanol is horrible on stuff made in the 70s and 80s. Buy high and sell low (or fill your house with junk)... |
A BCM with bocote handle:
https://scontent.fphx1-1.fna.fbcdn.n...94&oe=5EAFE0A8 A pic of some of my cues about 25 years ago. Don't even remember what they all are anymore. I do know that the second one from the bottom is a Meucci DH, the third one is a D. Albrecht custom (honey maple handle), and the third one from the top is one of my J. Pechauer Customs. The cue at the top is definitely my old Muecci Hi-Pro 3, the luckiest stick I ever played. Not worth a whole lot (maybe $600?) but won more money and more league championships with that stick than all my other sticks combined: https://scontent.fphx1-2.fna.fbcdn.n...e7&oe=5EB0364E |

I also collect books, magazines, greeting cards. All kinds: tons of children's books, art, art history, design, typography, travel/geography/culture mags like National Geographics, pictorial encyclopedias and loads of cooking magazines plus books. Then there's the books solely for reading, such as history, politics, economics, history, health and nutrition. Of course, except for the political/economics,history, health/nutrition— it's mainly for the graphics and pictures. In art school we were told to create a large file of such things, but I hardly have any more room. It's time for a major expunging.

I had new black diamond rubber (original rubber was still on her) and fresh cloth laid. Doesn't play quite as quick as I'd like but still quality. Absolutely beautiful group of cues you've collected, I love the Meucci's. I actually use a snooker cue I grew up with on Australian full size snooker tables, have never been able to make the change to these massive tipped american style pool cues....but do have a super nice old McDermott D-11 I'm going to get tapered down one day so I can give it a whirl. https://i917.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3phbcbrd.jpg |

Nice table. And thanks for the compliment. D-11s are nice cues. My very first cue was a McD. What they call a Freshman now I think. I've always been a Meucci fan; my second cue was a Meucci, an 84-4, IIRC. Fell in love with the taper and the balance. It was a real bummer for that 15 or so years when their quality went to absolute ass. Was so glad when Bob came back and got re-involved in the production side of the business. That's when I started buying BMCs. |

Played in a few garage bands up until I was 17 and went into the Army. Always kept a bass close, though. Too damned old to play with a band these days..... :( These days I collect - mainly for the tonal qualities of the wood -They give a bass a nice percussive tone. Harder woods include Hard Maple (or Rock Maple), Ebony, Walnut, Paduak, Wenge, Koa and Rosewood. Rosewood is a commonly used wood on the fingerboards of bass guitars and my favorite is Purple Heart. That wood seems to sustain for years. :) |

Moved my vinyl collection over to the new place personally. Now just waiting for a covid sale on a proper display. I guess what makes my collection unique, outside the fact that it's shit no one but me would ever want to listen to, is that the majority of it is either 1st and/or limited pressings. A good portion was purchased at shows in support of touring or local bands. Good number of test presses in there as well.

I have a few firearms and high end wristwatches, but I would hardly say I'm a collector.

I have a collection of pocket knives, probably nearly 200 of them by now. Nothing terribly collectible or valuable, just buy them when I see something interesting or just beautiful.
Have a spent brass collection of sorts. It's very small (less than 50 pieces), but these days it's tough to find brass that isn't 9mm or .223 rem. |

There's something about pocket knives that promotes artistic design. Maybe it's the combination of the curves and the metal, and the fact that the handles can be a variety of materials. I've seen a lot of beautiful pocket knives over the years. |

Ok but seriously, guitars. This is only a portion of my collection. I'm sure there are other guys on here that have way more, though.

Only things I've ever collected are concert ticket stubs, festival wrist bands, and VIP/backstage passes from concerts I've attended. Got to be pushing close to 1000 by now.

I have a crate of comics. Nothing really valuable. Just stuff I like from when I was a kid. Mostly Batman. I have probably 15-20 of the recent Batman The Animated Series figures that they've been producing. I have several Victorinox Swiss Army knives and other various knives. I have a few handguns and rifles. And I have 899 Funko Pops according to the website I use to keep track of them. But I don't really collect those anymore. Most of those are from 2013-2017. I used to have over 200 NES and SNES games but I sold them. The price was right.

I like the NECA horror action figures but I don't own a single one of them. They've made a Jason figure from just about every Friday the 13th. Same with Michael Myers, Freddy, Pinhead, you name it. I always look at them but I never buy. I just don't wanna get started down that road.
But now they're starting to do the Universal Monsters. I saw Frankenstein at Walmart the other day. They're really tryin to get my cash. |
Records and Criterion movies.
And apparently birds. Damn finches won’t stop laying eggs. |
Beanie caps.
Don't laugh, I look good and tough in them while receiving many complements. |

I have a lot of different collections.
Some of my more interesting things I grabbed up some game used Baseball memorabilia from the 2014-2017 Royals. The ball Moustakas hit in the 10th inning of Game 1 of the 2014 ALCS. Second base from innings 1-3 of Game 2 of the 2014 ALCS. Covered in mud, because if you remember that was a raining dreary, muddy day. Third base from innings 4-6 of the game in 2015 when the Royals clinched the AL Central (has gloved dirtprints on it which I think were from Zobrist sliding into the bag). The hat Wade Davis was wearing during his heroic Game 6 of the 2015 ALCS All of the Bobble Head stadium giveaways between 2015-2016 that celebrated the 2 playoff runs. Moose's batting helmet from Game 1 of the 2016 Regular season vs the Mets (first time with the KC in gold lettering). A Salvy broken bat from 2016 when he won his first Silver Slugger. A Moose broken bat from the 2017 season when he broke the Royals homerun record. I've also always loved football helmets. During quarantine in 2020 I spent a lot of the money I wasn't spending elsewhere on mini helmets. I have the complete updated set for all of the NFL as well as 14 80s/90s throwbacks, all AFL teams original helmets, and the last 11 special Super Bowl Champion helmets. But my favorite thing I've gotten recently, is an authentic Chiefs Speedflex helmet (That's the kind that a lot of pros wear that has the crush zone on the front/top of the helmet. Darrell Williams is the first to come to mind.) Its beautiful and shiny in its display case. I'd love to get the helmets Mahomes, Kelce, and Hill all wear, but they are hard to find. |
