got tickets to opening night. Never read the comic books. Haven't read any spoilers. No expectations about the movie. I’m assuming some Avengers die in the first and second movie. Maybe Thanos is in charge of earth after the first movie. But you don’t have the bad guy win in these movies. Disney is not going to allow thAt kind of ending under any circumstances.

Keep in mind that while elements of these story lines are taken from the comix none of them are even close to direct adaptations. Even though I read IGauntlet and IWar there's no way to tell how the two flicks play out.

I will say that based on the comix story they can use these two films to do whatever they want. They can kill off characters, introduce more, and even work in Fox properties if they wanted (or were able) to.

The comix are definitely worth reading but I'd wait until after seeing the movies...:)

They killed him off in the first Captain America. You think he lived somehow?

We’ll sorta.

He was transported and assumed dead. I’m just wondering if thanks finds him or something

Yes. He basically has the same Super Soldier Serum as Captain America has in him, meaning he can survive in conditions most humans can't. I think the Tesseract (space gem) transported him somewhere close to Thanos, and Thanos added him to his club as the Cosmic Skull.

I think one of the actors spoiled Red Skull making a return in Infinity War (Samuel L. Jackson?) to boot.....

I had read some rumors about it around the interwebs recently

I think he makes a come back and wouldn’t be surprised if Hela does as well

Shaid 04-08-2018 11:46 AM

That's interesting. I guess I was thinking of him as basically a mortal touching an Infinity Stone so basically it killing him off. If it took him somewhere, it's been a really long delay in him coming back since that happened in the 30s during WWII. I suppose I can see it, there's just so many other superheroes, etc. to fit in that it seems kinda crazy to bring that extra element in but it does appear Captain America has a pretty big role so it does make some sense.

The Franchise 04-08-2018 02:07 PM

So I was reading online that Bucky being referred to as White Wolf at the end of Black Panther could mean that he won’t be taking over as Captain America, if/when Steve Rogers dies. That could mean that it will be Falcon who becomes the new Cap if Steve bites it.

Falcon probably dies in IW.

Plus what good is a Captain American if you dont have the super soldier serum?

I've heard Bucky in fact does take over after Captain America's death.

it’s a super hero universe and movie. They can find some in a lab. Hidden among crates locked away or confiscated by the military. Someone smuggled some out back in the day. Etc. etc.

Using comic book logic: while fixing Bucky in Wakanda they ran tests on the serum in his body and copied it.

They could then test it and the heart shaped herb on character X and come up with a new hero/villain...

Or they use Captain America's blood to heal Falcon on his deathbed. There are ways to make it work. All are very comic book.

Exactly.

Plus, the Fox/Disney deal should be done and approved (Trump will push it because it favors him) by Infinity War II...

I think this is the way they'll go.

In the comics, a character named Patriot was given a blood transfusion from his grandfather who was like the original super soldier and that's how he (Patriot) got his powers. So there's precedence.

Gravedigger 04-13-2018 08:35 AM

Didn't see where anyone posted this yet but it's been out there for a few days now. They released two versions of the same trailer where one was wide aspect for YouTube but the other one was elongated for twitter. After Thanos steps through the portal into Wakanda you can see how many gems he has at that point coming after Vision for the Mind Stone at the :23 mark. Two weeks away!

Spoiler!

BleedingRed 04-13-2018 09:14 AM

Yep - and they can easily explain away any leaps of logic with this. "Shuri, they tried taking transfusing Cap's blood in the 50's. It's one in a million. The people who tried it all died."

Shuri: "If we do nothing, Sam dies anyway, and everything is lost."

Yada yada, a much better writer can concoct a stronger scene with that basic premise - especially if Cap and Tony have already eaten it at this point and Sam's clinging to his life.

I have to admit that I like the MCU Falcon 100x more than the comix version. I think he'd be worthy of passing the torch...er...shield to.

The whole "Earths merged and X-Men" thing I can agree with. I think that's the plan as hush-hush as they are about the future of the MCU.

I just don't see Jackman having anything to do with it at first...

Gravedigger 04-19-2018 07:43 AM

They have to pivot to achieve longevity. There are tons of storylines they can still take the Avengers on, and individual characters through, but the storylines that'll be worthy of a $1 billion box office receipt or more are fading. Introduce the Xmen origin and focus on that whole side of things, with cameos from the Avengers before the individual actors hang it up. If they're going to introduce the Xmen eventually, I think that if they do introduce Wolverine in Infinity War Part 2, they'll just get the recasted Wolverine, not Jackman, so they can have continuity. They're probably already doing secret preliminary casting for who'll make up the Xmen team.

Keep in mind that once the deal is done they have access to all Fox properties. Any clip from any X-Men/F4 history.

They could use clips from old X-Men movies (much like how they would show cerebro) to make a collage of colliding worlds in IW2.

Just that would make the nerds splooge. Just a hint that these worlds are all coming together would be enough...

Jackman has said he is done with Wolverine. Not even a cameo. Of course they can throw a % of the gross at him, he may change his mind. But, he is already filthy rich and famous. The superhero thing is not what he really is, he's more of a Broadway guy. When your rich and famous, people usually do what they love. They will recast that role.

Some of it's probably from other countries. And one part was in a commercial for some product that I can't recall, but I'm not sure if it's from the movie, or just an add campaign. Like the soda commercial that had the hulk and antman for the super bowl that I'm not sure will ever be in any of the movies

I don't think we will see Wolverine...

What's the point?? He can't affect the outcome in any meaningful way.

Wolverine is an Elite character. If he's in a movie, it will be about him and he will be Central the to outcome...

I'd argue too young.

They have plenty with two Marvel Avengers animated films and the earlier movies.

Hell, they're no older than 8.

If you just let them stay up until 10 and watch anything you're a God in their minds...

BigRedChief 04-22-2018 07:58 AM

I didn't grow up reading the Marvel comics. Most of the MCU movies have been good but have been a little less than what they could have been.

That said, I'm getting excited to be the first to see this movie in my area. There is always people in costumes, get a goodie bag and local TV crews interviewing the fans. Feels more like an event over just seeing a movie.

I change my vote to Monday. That gives everyone Thursday Night, and all of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to see it. I say that's plenty of time in order to not be able to complain about spoilers.
