They've got a few Mexican themed ones. Strawberry-Pineapple and Cherry-Lime and one other I can't remember. They taste better than regular La Croix but I really dig them for mixers when I'm watching my calories.

Finally something halfway worth a shit comes out of Columbia, Mo. Really just wanted an IPA and got overwhelmed in the local section at Hy-Vee and grabbed this turtle can. I can dig it. I'm gonna put a sixer down and at 7.2abv I oughta be feeling alright by the time this meatloaf comes off.

I used WildBrew Philly Sour yeast. Check it out if you haven't already. Sours like a lacto strain but is low enough in bacteria that there's no need for separate equipment or contamination risk.

A little north of there is Table Rock, Really clear water

Table Rock Lake
They submerged the small town of Oasis, Missouri. Like a modern, midwestern Atlantis, the town still sits under about 100 feet (30 m) of water. Advanced divers can float down Main Street to the town’s small wooden church, which, although deteriorating after nearly 40 years underwater, offers wreck diving of a different order. I hear you can play Foosball in a tavern 100 feet under water.

If you go further NE Bonne Terre is a blast.

Drinking on a weds? Alchy.

Megatron96 09-16-2020 05:30 PM

Not tonight, but last weekend. Ardbeg's An Oa. Straight up, double. Perfectly sublime. Seems to be kind of rare around here, so if you see a bottle, buy it. Or two. If you like single malt scotch from Islay, this will wet your whistle.

phisherman 09-16-2020 06:28 PM

That stuff is the Ardbeg gateway. After falling for all of their products, I still think Ardbeg 10 is the best.

Lagavulin 16 is OK. I'm not the biggest fan but will still drink it if offered. Laga stuff is too much like drinking straight campfire smoke. Acrid and pungent.

I like Caol Ila a lot too. Their peated stuff has a more ashy taste and is a major component of JW Black.

Laphroaig is always fun but it is also the most polarizing distillery on Islay. The smoke is there along with medicinal phenols. I never would've guessed that something that tastes the way that iodine and band aids smell would be enjoyable at all but I love the stuff.

Misplaced_Chiefs_Fan 09-16-2020 07:22 PM

Enjoying a Boulevard Whiskey Barrel Stout.

Tough to get Boulevard out here in MD (not impossible, but they don't stock it heavily). This is a very tasty beer. :BLVD:

Local brewery collab with a local liquor store (Binny's, greatest in the world). Local liquor store provided their hand selected Blantons and Buffalo Trace barrels to age the stout in.

Thicc, boozy chocolate fudge with balanced rye notes. Increds.

Found a blackberry sour while digging through the beer pantry.

On a different note, after buying the taster, I bought a bottle of small batch Elijah Craig the other day.... I'm a girl when it comes to the harshness of higher proof liquor, but holy crap it's smooth and drinkable for being 47%. I think it's the perfect n00b bourbon for sipping, or with a fraction of any mixer that I'd normally use. :thumb:
