TNT at 1:00 PM Central Time. I just went to the Leaderboard on ESPN.com to get my info. He is still Even after two (11 was a par 5, Tiger started on the back nine). But he is already 2 shots behind.

Tiger birdied hole #12 (third hole for him). One shot back.

-4 through 14. Two way tie for the top.

Tiger lookin' fierce. What is this about him injuring himself on the driving range earlier in the week?

kstater 08-14-2009 06:59 PM

Shot a 78 today. Was great because I knew the next round I posted was going to drop an 82 off my 12 handicap*. Hit 7/9 greens on the back nine and 10 overall which is mind numbingly absurd for me considering I average a 25% GIR overall. Hitting only 3 greens on the front didn't kill me because I only had 14 putts. The key to low scores I guess is to keep the big numbers off the cards. 11 pars and 7 bogeys.

*Unofficial from the Loopr.com website.

Your worst score is an 82 and you have a 12 handicap? What are you doing? Playing par 27 courses? Either way, I don't know how you assholes putt so good. Back when I played everyday and I was a 2 handicap, I would hit 16 greens and shoot 80 sometimes with 38 putts. I don't understand how you can get under 30 putts consistently. I guess you either have it or not.

Not worst score, a good score was going to drop(it was the 20th round), thus handicap would have gone up.

kstater 08-15-2009 02:44 PM

smittysbar 08-16-2009 02:21 PM

Did anyone watching DTV's HD feed lose it?

I'm getting every channel but my local CBS.

kstater 08-16-2009 02:35 PM

8 eating people alive. Everyone except Yang.

kstater 08-16-2009 02:35 PM

Tiger, you're still away.

smittysbar 08-16-2009 02:49 PM

I went Tuesday when I was up for training camp, was amazed. The shit that it would take to prepare for one of these events is unbelievable.

Reaper16 08-16-2009 03:58 PM

Holy shit. Yang just made a crazy eagle to take a one stroke lead.

kstater 08-16-2009 04:05 PM

McIlroy is 20 years old and made the cut in all 4 majors. Barring some huge run of birdies, will get a top 5 here. He's going to be a special player.

smittysbar 08-16-2009 04:11 PM

Guess the commentators got all worked up just for a lay up lol

Tiger has an IMO must make putt.

Reaper16 08-16-2009 04:19 PM

Tiger can't catch a damn break with his putts. He's missed bird a few times by the minutest of spaces.

With Yang's luck it would hit a tree and go in the hole.

Tiger Woo?

JD10367 08-16-2009 05:04 PM

Holy crap.

Gotta feel good for this Yang dude. He stared down the best golfer in history and did what no other golfer has been able to do. On top of that, he became the first Asian-born player to win a championship.

As much as I like Tiger, much like Michael Jordan, I'm just sick of hearing how great he is. It makes it almost boring to think no one can beat the guy.

the Talking Can 08-16-2009 05:06 PM

tiger did not like watching someone else do the victory dance...that was funny

Gonzo 08-16-2009 05:07 PM

I have to admit, dude was nails today. A few lucky bounces but all in all a great performance.

Yup and realistically he should have putted out first. Their putts were within a foot of each other and it was unlikely Wang was 3 putting that.

kstater 08-16-2009 05:10 PM

Tiger took his ball and went home.

JD10367 08-16-2009 05:12 PM

This is huge for golf, too. You know that, secretly, all the PGA execs were rooting for Tiger to lose. This will net them MILLIONS in the Far East now, from merchandise revenue, broadcasting rights, etc.,. (much like having Asian players in MLB and Yao Ming in the NBA have done).

OnTheWarpath15 08-16-2009 05:15 PM

I'm going to guess that noone is real thrilled about having to face Tiger next year. He's going to come back pissed and more focused than he has ever been.

Forget the Buick Open, it'll be the KIA/Daewoo/Samsung Open.

JD10367 08-16-2009 05:18 PM

When Yang hoisted the trophy, am I the only one who pictured Ken Jeong from "The Hangover"? :D "Hey, Mista Woods... You always joke about Asian men in America... Who got the big d*ck now, huh? So long, gay boys! Toodaloo, motherf**kers!" ROFL

Jerm 08-16-2009 05:22 PM

God could CBS have kissed Tiger's ass any more or made any more excuses for him?

Holy Jesus.

I know all the networks do it but yesterday and today was nauseating to say the least.

It's shit like that causes people to root against Tiger.

Big ups to Yang, had has got balls...that shot on #18 was nuts. For once, Tiger and not the players surrounding him choked. It was shocking to see TBH.

That, plus a couple of other things: #1, we like to root for the underdogs and the rags-to-riches stories, and #2, we hate it when one player/team becomes so dominant that they make the sport boring. It's the reason why my Patriots were beloved in 2001 when they were upstarts and beat the Rams, and everyone loved Tom Brady the 6th-round nobody, but three years later every non-Patriots fan was sick of them and sick of Brady. Same thing happened to Dallas a few decades back, and Michael Jordan a bit. The Yankees also get a lot of the hatred for it as well. Montreal in hockey got it when they were dominant; the Celtics, back in Bill Russell's day; even Michael Phelps is already getting a little of it. When Tiger was a young phenom, and making inroads as a black golfer, it was a great story; now that aspect has worn off, and he's just a guy who kicks the living sh*t out of most opponents, and it makes it boring. The only thing better to people than a meteoric rise, is the decline...

To be fair, Tiger has made CBS, NBC etc and every golfer on tour boatloads of money.

Reaper16 08-16-2009 05:30 PM

Tiger didn't choke this outcome away. Sure, he choked on the last two holes trying to make something happen, but that's because Yang had outplayed him. Tiger played well today, barely-missed a few birdie putts, and had his opponent play a better round. No shame in Tiger's day.

He had more bogeys today than he had the first three rounds combined. When you are ranked number 1 in the world that is choking.

Jerm 08-16-2009 08:05 PM

If Phil Mickelson had played like Tiger did yesterday and today, everyone would be calling it a choke.

Yang played a great round but Tiger gave him a chance.

Was out playing today when rain sent us back to the club house. While there waiting for the rain to stop I start messing around with putters. (Just bought a used Ping Pal4 from them a few weeks back). Anyhow, I'm toying around with the putters, fall absolutely in love with a new Ping I series Anser putter with the face insert. I'm hitting a chair leg with a golf ball consistently from 15 feet away across carpet. Ask the pro shop guy what kind of trade he'd give me on the putter I bought from him a few weeks back. He's not interested in trading but says he'll make me a deal. (side note, I find a lot of golf balls and the guy that runs the proshop is pretty cool about giving me tips and has a great short game so whenever I find top grade ProV1s I give them to him telling him I'm not worthy of hitting a ProV1 that is that nice). Anyhow I ask what kind of price he has in mind. He shoots me a number that is between a third and half of his taged price.

It's in my bag and it putts GREAT!

Of course I prefer some putters over others but a good putter can use any of them. Reading greens is the most important part of making putts. If you don't know how to plumb bob get someone to show you how. Going straight back and straight through with the putter is crucial. Use a range ball with a stripe or paint a stripe on a ball and set the stripe straight up and down. If the stripe wobbles you are cutting the ball.

kstater 08-30-2009 03:54 PM

I swear everytime Tiger is up the leaderboard everyone shits themselves. Stricker and no-name both have 120 yard up and downs to save par on 18.

kstater 08-30-2009 04:00 PM

Nice putt by Slocum

Jerm 09-03-2009 10:12 PM

Figured this thread needed a bump.

Anyone played at River Oaks in Grandview?

Pretty close to me and I've heard good things about it...my dad wants to get out and play a couple of times in the next few days, just thought about that course.

Looking for somewhere to join too, heard it wasn't that expensive.

Dunit35 09-17-2009 09:48 PM

I can't believe my golfing today. I am still pumped about it.

We played Roman Nose State Park today. I hit a 25 ft putt (first time ever). I also birdied a par 3 (first birdie ever). I nailed my drive (8 iron) within three ft of the hole.

Roman Nose is a badass golf course.
