The reason Kansas supposedly had the lower chance of beating Seton Hall than other 1s had in the 2nd round wasn't because Seton Hall was ranked any higher, it was because Kansas was ranked lower than the other 1s except for Xavier.

Looking at opponents remaining, it's Villanova's road that's tougher, with the better opponent in the SS, only one spot worse than Kansas' opponent in the EE, and no chance at a relative cupcake.

But, Kansas is 9th compared Villanova being #1.... it's false to say Kansas has the toughest road remaining, even if their chances of going to the Final Four are lower because they aren't as good as Villanova.

Of course, the other side of the bracket is wrecked, but there are still a couple top 10 kenpom teams in there.

Villanova (1) vs 11th, 4th/13th
Kansas (9) vs 14th, 3rd/44th
Kentucky (16) vs 39th, 36th/23rd
Gonzaga (7) vs 30th, 10th/25th

Of course, actual analysis isn't as sexy as saying 22% and easily the toughest road, I guess.

Would you rather face a healthy Duke in the Elite Eight or a Purdue team without its best player?

That's a huge difference. I'd rather play Purdue over Duke.

Sure, most would take that same choice. But, this is the real world and not fantasy island. Ricardo Montelban is not changing which bracket side we are on.

We had a virtual home court advantage all the way to the final 4 last year. Every advantage you could want and we didn’t do shit with it.

What years can you make a final 4 without playing a Duke or a similar caliber team?

KU & K-State are now longshots per most of the national media. This year, that might be the best Karma you can get.

KU wouldnt be a long shot if Duke wasnt looming in their bracket

KU has the most victories against teams in the Sweet 16:

KSU x3
WVU x3
TTech
Syracuse
Texas A&M
Kentucky

KU is 5-0 in games decided by one possession (3pnts)

KU is 6-3 vs Top 25 this season

Self is 9-2 vs the ACC

Self vs Duke: 2-1

Self is 12-0 in the regular season vs Top 10 teams dating back to 2014-15 Season in Champions Classic vs UK

I like our team.

Udoka healthy is key.

And of course, Kansas has to shoot well from 3.

Can't have a bad game out of Graham.

Newman needs to continue to score well.

This team isn't going to rebound, on matter how much you want them to. So you just got to hope that the ball bounces their way off the rim.

If they can do all the above, they can beat anyone in the country. KU tends to play big in big games against good opponents, I have no worries about Duke. **** them.

Some statistics from an article I just read:

So far this season, Clemson has held its opponents to 43.8-percent shooting on 2-pointers (eighth nationally), but allowed 34.9-percent shooting on opponents’ 3-pointers (181st).

Kansas ranks 16th in the country in 2-point field-goal percentage (54.1 percent), and enters its matchup with Clemson shooting 40.3 percent from 3-point range (11th nationally).

181st  That seems to give us an advantage.

Every player has off nights, even Jordan. We have enough history that tells us that Graham should be his regular self this weekend.

Our problem historically and proven again this year is playing down to inferior opponents, not wilting against quality.

Do you have any idea how ridiculous this sounds?

Edit: I forgot about the injury to Haas(sp?). But nowhere in that post did you mention the injury.

But the real question is "what does Kenpom say my worry factor should be?"

Lay off KCC.

Penn was a tough draw. Seaton Hall was a tough out. I don’t think he was trolling too hard.

KU has laid a lot of eggs in years past that would have gotten us beat.

Let it go man.

Nope.

The rocky, yet rewarding, evolution of KU’s Malik Newman

I was hard on this guy earlier this season, but he has really turned it up a notch or 10. I'm glad he's showing what kind of player we had all envisioned.
