Next year when KU is going for its 15th straight Big 12 regular season conference championship, and people try to tell me we only won number 14 because the Big 12 was weak, I will refer them to this stat:

40% of the Big 12 Conference made the Sweet 16. Nearly half of the Big 12 made the 2018 Sweet 16. That's a strong league.

In comparison, only 27% of the ACC made the Sweet 16, only 14% of the Big 10 Conference made the Sweet 16, only 14% of the SEC made the Sweet 16, only 10% of the Big East made the Sweet 16, only 10% of the Missouri Valley Conference made the Sweet 16, only 10% of the West Coast Conference made the Sweet 16, and only 9% of the Mountain West Conference made the Sweet 16.

Your point is better made leaving entire conferences made up of mid-majors out of it. Nobody that's a fan of a MVC school, for instance, would ever brag about having a stronger conference than the Big 12. Focus on the SEC, the ACC, Big 10, etc. Conference bragging rights is really a Power 5 thing
