If they did, players wouldn’t wear the mic anymore. Even without that stuff, this mic’d up stuff is great.

Jomboy has a video on it.

Bit disappointed with the Mic'd up. Not that it wasn't great but it should have been much better. There were hardly any mic'd up moments from the final drives and instead it was mostly just game video with Mitch calling the plays. Last year's was far better, especially when showing the contrasting reactions to the Toney punt return.

I thought the same thing.

Purdy wasn't even mic'd. Kelce was so you know they have the conversation between him and Reid but nothing on the segment. Very little dialogue worth the time.

Ultimately my only real takeaway is that Nick Bosa sounds stoned all the time. And stupid. That guy speaks when a couple neurons accidently bump into each other and some noise comes out. It's bizarre - guy has the cadence and vocabulary of a 7 year old kid.

DJ's left nut 02-15-2024 09:56 AM

Oh, another takeaway - the 49ers were SO much tighter than KC in that 2nd half. It was insane.

The whole time, even when the 49ers had the lead, they looked streeeeessed. They always looked like they were losing.

The Chiefs looked confident and poised the whole time. The 49ers looked terrified.

Mahomes does weird shit to people, man.

Agreed. The whole time they just sounded like they were trying to talk themselves into believing they could win.

I think the Greenlaw injury really broke Warner. He just seemed in a fog.

So did Bosa, but as I noted earlier - that's just how that dude sounds. He could've said "I made poopie" and I wouldn't have batted an eye. He's just a slow kid.

Hearing people talk about the Greenlaw injury is beginning to piss me off. Yeah, it was a bad thing and hurt the 49ers, but it's hardly different than other players being out of the game altogether with injuries like Omenihu. Everyone has to deal with injuries and they're difficult to overcome, but that is part of football. If we have to listen to whining about how they lost Greenlaw, they should at least address the players the Chiefs had to do without.

It's just the nature of things. We lamented the injuries to Fisher and Schwartz when we lost to Tampa Bay. We'll never know if they would have won with Greenlaw, and we'll never know if we could have beaten Brady with our tackles. I can't blame them for feeling like it sucks, even if injuries are just a part of the game.

I agree with you about how we talked about the injuries to O-Line. I'm trying to draw a distinction between the fact that Greenlaw was injured during the game and someone like Omenihu was out before the game.

I should add that it also irritates me how "they" discuss the fact that it occurred as he was "just running onto the field." How it happened is fairly inconsequential. It is virtually certain that it would have happened pretty quickly anyway if it hadn't happened running onto the field. They actually got lucky that it happened during a dead ball as opposed to during the middle of a play.

I think the thing that makes it very different than us not having a player who was injured in a game two weeks ago is it happening in the Super Bowl as he was simply running out onto the field. Emotions run high in that game and momentum is a huge thing. That kind of a loss could take a mental toll on a team or at least a few players who were close to him. It's not just about the loss of the player, but about that player losing the opportunity to play in one of the biggest games of his career. And not having two weeks to get used to that fact as we did with Omenihu or our tackles before LV.

Still not an excuse for losing and you could see Warner at least in better spirits as the game went on. Well, not at the very end, I guess.

Greenlaw was way too happy celebrating good plays early. Seemed like he had Pacheco levels of adrenaline and could not handle it.

I wonder if he would have popped his Achilles if he calmed down the jumping up and down like a crazy man.

Niners looked exhausted and pessimistic on all the clips after Chiefs first lead.

Though I suppose they realize they’re not going to out-talent or out-technique us so the only option is to dominate us physically. Dudes really are just cavemen deep in our lizard brains.

I knew the injury to Greenlaw was huge, he's a great LB.
After watching to ItNFL, I didn't realize how completely demoralizing it was for the 9rs.
Warner reacted like somebody shot his dog, Kittle said it was depressing, and it was.
I've never seen a player go down like that, must've been hanging by a thread.

I wonder if Ji'Ayir Brown thought Kelce was soft when Kelce hammered him going out of bounds. He laid on the ground writhing and grabbing his shoulder for quite a while.

There are few dudes I'd less like to get run over by than Travis Kelce.

He's so much bigger than we realize and evidently was moving at about 20 mph when they made contact. That is a SHITLOAD of force.

The 49ers probably made the "correct" analytical decisions based on a win probability model. Basically how often does it go 0-0, 3-3, 7-7 or 8-8. I imagine it goes 3-3 a decent amount and rarely 0-0. If that even happens 20% of the time then you are trying to deduce if the advantage you gave the other team by letting them go 2nd with 4 downs is worth more or less than that say 20%.

I think every coach should understand you have to go for 2 if the other team scores 7 and you answer with a TD.

Sorry if this has been covered but do the teams not handshake with the loser anymore? Last year I don’t remember seeing Hurts handshake Mahomes and this year I certainly haven’t seen Purdy doing that.

Perhaps it’s just not in the footage but I find it curious. I remember Mahomes shaking Brady’s hand after the SB 55 blowout

Fishels 02-16-2024 12:55 AM

I love how casual Mahomes sounds about going back to back. It’s like he doesn’t even care and is only focused on the three peat. This was just a mere one ring to him.

That mentality is seriously intimidating

I know that Reid and Shannahan agreed earlier in the week to not shake hands. Last time I guess it took forever to find each other, so they just agreed to not do it.

The losing players usually exit after the ending of the SB so the winners can celebrate.

They don't have to leave the field, but I am sure players just want to get to the locker room for privacy.

I absolutely loved Reid knowing that we would, at the very least, tie it in regulation

I am paraphrasing, because I don't remember exactly, but they celebrated the FG, and he said something like, y'all really think that's going win it?

He just knew.

Given how much audio they have recorded, whoever edits these mic'ed videos has so much editorial power to tell the story however they want.
You give 10 different editors the material and you might get 10 different storylines (with the Chiefs winning at the end of all of them). Tell one from the D's perspective, one from the O's perspective, for both teams. The possibilities are plentiful.
Are we going to be treated to the Directors Cut, the Trainer's Cut, etc.?

I'ld probably watch them all.

SAGA45 02-16-2024 10:50 AM

Kittle is the absolute worst pregame hype man. Sounds more like a rookie teacher gettin' kids hype for a math test.

I noticed that too, but I don't think it really had anything to do with the fact that Karlaftis got the ball before Kittle could. Kittle had his back to the play because he was blocking. Fooling around and saying hi to Karlaftis wasn't responsible for the situation. McCaffrey fumbled the ball. That is where the blame lies.

I imagine almost every player has some sort of last cut. They didn't show the Kelce vs Reid argument. They didn't show the Rice vs Mahomes argument. And they barely showed Purdy say...anything at all. To me that means that Purdy's people didn't want him to be showed. He's probably low energy and boring.

Thanks! Twice in fact. You show a knack for dealing with morons.

Red Dawg 02-16-2024 12:32 PM

Kittle is over praised. He di nothing in the post season that should be remembered. Not to Kyle: If you best player on offense is a running back then your offense is lacking a QB.

This is a great example of the disparity between Kittle's "awww shucks" attitude vs Mahomes's Killer instinct. One of those things is going to win a lot more games than the other.

I really think their offense was gonna roll on us. Also they were trying to play loose. Worked in the 1st half.

edit they thought

I only played college ball but always knew to wait until the play is dead and he did not.

Idiot, everyone quit after the Raider game.

49ers announcers Greg Papa kind of ****ing sucks.

Squeaky voice doing soccer style screams on touchdown calls makes peoples' ears bleed, asshole. Find something else, dipshit.

Nah. Without going into too much detail, I know for sure the Chiefs felt this absolutely mattered. Kittle was a talker and that had him not focused in the right way at the right time. Trust me on this one.

They don't have to leave the field, but I am sure players just want to get to the locker room for privacy.

Thanks for the explanation. I guess the SB’s that stick out in my mind have had the players who did shake hands very clearly.

It would be such a cool job to hear absolutely everything uncensored but also frustrating to not share the entire thing.
