In the last scene the blaster light on his mask reminded me of the light on Darth Vader's mask when Palpatine was trying to kill Luke. I think they did it on purpose to convey that he was trying to decide if he was going to be good or evil in that moment.

This guy was great in Game of Thrones and Narcos. I have no doubt that he can carry a series like this. Now that I've seen how the series is going to go, (assuming that the pilot is indicative of the quality) I'm a bit stoked to see Mexican Burt Reynolds pull this off.

this ruled and I'm not overly fond of the franchise regarding their recent pictures.

This one is awesome though - Werner Herzog always belonged in the newer films / series' - Glad he's in this. Big fan of him and the Mandalorian.

Compared to the first few episodes of The Clone Wars and Rebels, The Mandalorian was 96% A to their 70% C's at launch, IMHO of course.

There was an awful lot of info dropped in the first episode of The Mandalorian, which was directed by CW and Rebels director Dave Filoni.

My expectation is that the quality of each episode and subsequent season will improve drastically, just as Season 2 of The Clone Wars and Rebels were far above and beyond their respective Season 1's.

Disney has a lot riding on the success of The Mandalorian, as they should after a $15 million dollar per episode budget. With Season 2 filming already in Long Beach, I'd expect that the quality will be their highest priority moving forward because they're expecting as many as 60 million subscribers by 2024.

Those numbers will be difficult to attain if The Mandalorian and the subsequent Star Wars and Marvel Series don't meet the expectations of their respective audiences.

Every episode is about 30 minutes.

This is the first Star Wars live action TV show....EVER.

They gambled $120 million that it would work...did you really expect they were going to gamble twice that much on something that had never been done before?

This isn't like GoT where they need longer run times to cram in as much book stuff as possible.

This is a five-hour movie...and when it's all said and done I'm pretty sure it will be vastly entertaining and we'll be looking forward to season two.

If this works you'll get your one-hour Star Wars TV show I'm sure. But I don't really think this NEEDS to be a one show right now. It's so small and focused on one guy that they can do it just fine as it is right now.

Ah, OK.

I like that we're getting a Star Wars story not involving the Skywalkers, but a large part of me wants to see Darth Vader at his peak between RotS and ANH. I can't believe they haven't jumped on that yet.

No, it isn't. Far too early to crown it like that. Episodes are too short and the one a week business sucks ass. Not that the release schedule is the fault of the show itself.

It has tremendous potential. Right now, that's all it is.

The story is about a C+ right now, but the visuals are fantastic. I am getting some Rogue One vibes, but this should be better. Rogue One's characters were forgettable.

FWIW, I heard from a very reliable source last night that the budget increased $5 million per episode for Season 2 of The Mandalorian (Season 1 clocked in at $15 million per).

So now, it'll be in the neighborhood of $20 million per episode, which puts it among the most expensive per episode series of all time.

This is the only Star Wars content that I am actually looking forward to watching. Rogue One surprised me by being a damn fine bit of entertainment, in retrospect my favorite Star Wars movie of the entire franchise and I watched the very first one at a drive in when I was 10 years old. So the comparison is fine by me.

I'm fairly bummed that I didn't see Rogue One in theaters. It may be my favorite Star Wars movie. I didn't go see it because the trailers were terrible. I don't think they had anything really to do with the movie overall.

Mine was an 8 or a 9. I actually had to watch it twice because I couldn’t believe my eyes during that 3rd act.

Sure, we’ve seen that in The Clone Wars animated series and those story arcs (led by Jon Favreau’s Pre Vizla) were always fun and as visually cool as they could be using 2009 3D animation.

But seeing it in Live Action, for me anyway, was stunning.

It’s pretty clear that Favreau has a true reverence for the Mandalorian people and their history, which means that this series could open the door to years of new and fresh story telling throughout the SW Galaxy.

Hammock Parties 11-23-2019 12:18 PM

I went through and read just a piece of this. Sounds like fans of the show overreacted to her initial tweet following the first episode. Of course, she then responds to that overreaction, and now it's a big feminist thing. I don't think it would have been as big of a thing if people hadn't responded to her the way they did.

That said, my bit on feminism is that, in the 60's and 70's, feminism was about liberation. Nowadays, it seems to be women playing the victim card. Are there areas that need improvement? Sure. Is there still male chauvinism? Sure. Society's not perfect. Fight the fight when it needs to be fought. I just don't think it needs to be fought over something that you can simply turn off if you don't want to watch it.

All that said, going back to her initial tweet, I thought the Mandalorian making the armor was a woman.
