The 1080 is high quality and easy to work with. It IS what you want. |
Here's some inspiration, SR.
I was bored one weekend and feeling creative for a small project. Went to the junk yard to find a donor console instead of messin' with my own....Finished it this past weekend. That's 3M's black aluminum vinyl i used as an overlay. Turned this: https://i.imgur.com/rJZstEi.jpg Into this: https://i.imgur.com/0FJTMaa.jpg |
Does Armor All count?

****ing digging on that Matrix black - this is the part I fear (below)- I have decided to leave my console as is - since it's black leather - I AM however swapping to an OEM M-sport shifter.

Okay - Matrix Black has been procured. Along w/ a new start/stop button in red - a new M-sport shifter - door M illumination lens and a suede M steering wheel suede cover that you have to thread on. I hope I can pull all of this off. LOL
|
Black Matrix arrived today - but still waiting on start/stop button in red as well as Suede steering wheel cover to arrive - I am going to do the passenger side tonight though, just to practice. it can be mismatched for a few weeks. That's fine.
|
side passenger = completed.

I’m here. Excited.
Me next. |
I will take the photos tomorrow after I do the wheel trim and main panel - plus I have to use mom's phone as my opt lense is broke on my phone.
|
I am anxious with anticipation
|
I'm done - I will eventually do my console but I'm going to wait - it's simple black leather - so no real hurry - I'm very pleased with the results - I have just a few more things to do - I'll wrap the console eventually - My M suede steering wheel cover is coming as is my red start/stop button - I did paint my start/stop button trim (behnd the button 'ring') an M blue today - but I've still not got the button in the mail. I'm very pleased with the matrix black - I'll post pictures tomorrow - i was delayed an hour or so fiddling with the unlock door plug for the main dash board re-assembly. All went pretty smoothly though - I even got my steering wheel plastic trim wrapped. That was fun. :shake:
|
It's too dark even with flash to get a good one of my dash - here's my steering trim - don't look at my legs weirdos.

Miles - you may recall my hood vents being woven graphite carbon fiber - I had it ALL blacked up - My lip and whole hood repainted jet black, again; originally the lip and vents were the graphite and the rest was black - now it's just black EVERYwhere!
The body shop did a great job! http://i68.tinypic.com/2cftgus.jpg |
You’re making me miss the M3. I would have kept it as a second car if it was a manual transmission. The DCT is definitely the way with that car though.

I need a before and after photo. What's really different? |

I think the horn portion is factory but the steering wheel spokes he covered. Not sure though. |

I meant to quote SR's pictures of the steering wheel, not Miles post. I get the redline thing. Tired. Bed. |

I wrapped the trim of the wheel - the part that surrounds the control buttons.

Big challenge next weekend - going to do my middle console - adding a new backlit shift and boot as well as a new central switch assembly - Then I'll wrap the middle console section w/ that matrix black.

Matrix Black vinyl wrap - newly installed shifter and central switch assembly
|
That looks good SR. I should hire you to do mine.

I'd absolutely reach over that center console and give you the lobster reach around.
