I was also calling for Gun's head last year!!!!!!
Stop saying I wanted another season with him. I didn't, although I believe he could have righted the ship had he been kept. This is NOT about GUN.

This is about consensus and dissent. And it is a civil plea for common respect. And yeah, I feel like a pariah around here, am I supposed to lie and just say 'Go Chiefs"? I consider you guys my friends, should I just ignore the rift of civility? How is that friendly?

Oh well, unless I have something football oriented to post, I'll just lay low. I guess I know where I stand with the 'consensus' bearers now.

Logical 08-26-2001 02:18 PM

Johnny,

I will only say that if the problem is not alcohol and you are not in a state of depression, then I find your attitude and your lumping all of us as a single view intolerable.

Never want you to leave but you might want to help you mature a little. Every once and a while we all need to work on our maturity.

htismaqe 08-26-2001 02:22 PM

John,

For me it was never ANYTHING BUT about GUN.

Luzap 08-26-2001 02:26 PM

Johnny,

This quote represents your problem in a nutshell...

Quote:

I wish the Planet success, but lament the bias against dissent (that's just the way i see it) that drives away a Denise or others who have much to contribute IMO.
Denise has never once posted here. So just how did anyone drive her away?

This BB was built on non-conformity and for you to claim otherwise is better spin than the DNC (Democratic National Committie) is usually capable of.

Like much of the DNC blather, it is insulting to anyone of intelligence.

If you have differing opinions from others here, fine. Make your case and stick to it. If some don't show class in their responses, be a man, have some class, and ignor them.

When you start insulting MY BB that I choose to spend time on (as well as the people on it) you are insulting me ~ and I don't like it.

And make no mistake. Your constant reactionary style, your attempt to paint yourself as innocent and pure, your accusationions that you are being unfairly picked on ARE insulting.

Luz
they also do nothing to further the cause of Christianity by example ~ and that really saddens me...

Great, now we have to turn this into a political thread...

We could have done without that... :D

Phobia 08-26-2001 02:45 PM

PPL

infers that people cannot think for themselves. Whether you believe that to be inflamatory or not is besides the point. It has been construed as insulting by many people here. This is nothing but a communications failure.

Chiefs Pantalones 08-26-2001 03:06 PM

hey proc,

Did you switch personalities again?

I know how to solve your problems...

LEAVE THIS BB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mi_chief_fan 08-26-2001 03:18 PM

John,

Ordinarily, I would just leave this topic alone and go on to the next, but I felt I should make a point. If this topic had been posted by one of the people you mentioned you had respect for(wax, denise, packfool), it probably would have gotten a minimum of responses. I think it speaks volumes for just how much people enjoy your presence and opinion that they would lambaste you like they have.

Think of it as "tough love".

I have no problems personally with you, but this topic was way out of line for someone with so many people that consider themselves friends.

Brock 08-26-2001 03:25 PM

"Buh BYE you whining b*tch, it was annoying knowing you."

I know how to solve your problems... LEAVE THIS BB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With friends like that, who needs enemies?

Mi_chief_fan 08-26-2001 03:29 PM

And 1 post later:

HC,

That really wasn't called for........

:)

TCB 08-26-2001 04:24 PM

KCJ,

So do you just sit back there in Fort Bragg, read this stuff and smile when you stir all these guys up? You are the best at stirring things up. By the way some of your points are valid.

ken man

am sending Johnny a paddle for x-mas

TheFly 08-26-2001 04:30 PM

Chaplain, you really need SERIOUS help...

I hope you get some...

Zebedee DuBois 08-26-2001 04:33 PM

I think KCJ likes to beat a pan every once in a while to see if all the birds will fly up and start squawking.!
It appears that they still do.

Frazod 08-26-2001 06:36 PM

Looks like I missed a fun one, but no way in hell am I going to read all this crap.

Proctor, just trade in all your Chiefs stuff for Redskins stuff and be done with it. Find a Skins board to call your own. Seems like you'd be much happier, and so would we.

And besides, with the season they're in for, I can't think of any group of fans more in need of a chaplain. Can you do last rites?

Bwana 08-26-2001 06:52 PM

John: Were you tuned up when you posted this?

Spott 08-26-2001 07:24 PM

What's a PPL. Is that anything like a PSL? And what exactly is the point of this topic?

htismaqe 08-26-2001 08:09 PM

But I have to tell you that the planet is a joke after what they have pulled this time.
Anyway enough of that, welcome to one of the best Chief boards on the net.

Looks like Prez is pissed he got busted double-posting.

I can't wait till his web hoster notifies him that the flagrant use of the word "pillowbiter" is going to get his site removed! :D

God, I'm a bastard...

Chiefs Pantalones 08-26-2001 08:53 PM

I apologize to everyone if they are offended by me. But it is true. The only way proc can solve his problem with us (instead of bitching about it) is to leave this BB. Am I right? He says he wants to talk Chiefs football, but he really wants to disrespect Chiefs football, I mean, thats fine and all, but he says he's a Chiefs fan, but he disrespects the coaches, in all. I can see a fan of another team doing that (which is fine, also) but NOT a Chiefs fan!

leave, adios, cho'...

CG

once again, sorry everyone, but its old...

HC_Chief 08-26-2001 09:06 PM

I'm not apologizing for sh*t. I'm sick of the whining and constant denegration of this team due to it's progressive new approach (which, coincidentally, has proven eimmensely successful). As if that wasn't annoying enough, to come on here and constantly play the martyr- to try some stinking passive-aggressive BS role, then label the regulars here as 'party-liners', well, that just crosses the damn line with me.

To dissent is one thing, but to chastize and label with complete disregard for the reality of the interaction that takes place here is TROLLISH behavior. Trolls are afforded no quarter in my book - so the b*tch can rot on ignore for all I care.

Rausch 08-26-2001 09:10 PM

PROC,

I think that in the past I have AGREED with you more times than not, and at times suffered a few insults INSISTING I must BE you...

I don't fit in either catagory(not new, and generally disagree with everyone respectfully:D ) and am just a tad peeved you'd lump me in there...

Brad,

Proc's friend, starting to question if he's getting enough sleep...

Chiefs Pantalones 08-26-2001 09:23 PM

HC,

I'm not apologizing to proc, but I was apologizing to everyone if they were offended by me telling proc to leave the BB.

But oh well, I take it back...

proc...get the hell out of chiefsplanet.

CG

Oh great...

please! No political discussions!!!!!!??

Just brush it off, splatbass.

Besides, its just words!:)

splatbass 08-26-2001 09:42 PM

"Don't worry It's just his opinion "

My point exactly, ChiefPriority - Differences in political philosophy are just that, OPINIONS. People of equal intelligence can have different OPINIONS. The diffences between the DNC and the RNC have nothing to do with their intelligence, they are just differences of opinion. What he said was that anyone with any intelligence would agree with him, a very arrogant opinion as far as I'm concerned.

Chiefs Pantalones 08-26-2001 09:44 PM

For what its worth, splatbass. I'm a Democrat, but I'm not offended by his comment...

probably because I'm never serious:p :D

Chiefs Pantalones 08-26-2001 09:47 PM

Actually...since you brought up politics...you are now dropped from the PPL.

Sorry...no political discussion during football season.

I don't speak for Luzap, but I know that he and Oleman go round & round on political issues. I doubt his comment was aimed towards anybody except Oleman.

California Injun 08-27-2001 12:13 AM

If Gunther was sending Proctor care packages, maybe Karl Malone e-mailed him his retirement letter?

This could explain the Chaplin's grouchiness...:p

CanadaKC 08-27-2001 12:28 AM

What ever happened to that Cody I remember who came on the Star BB last year...talking so polite, and making every effort not to step on people's shoes, so to speak? Wow. What a change
from then to now. Maybe the fact that you have accumulated a high multitude of posts on this board in a short time...makes you feel like you have the right to speak on behalf of most of us.
Your credibility to me is wearing thhin, only because I think the old Cody is the real one.

KCTitus 08-27-2001 06:14 AM

This is just plain sad...it's pathetic. For anyone to post this joking or not is silly.

Spott 08-27-2001 06:18 AM

What happened to Proctor? I've been away from this board for a while and now it seems like he has a totally different personality.

gh4chiefs 08-27-2001 06:21 AM

You know I thought the same thing Mizzou, it just doesn't seem like the guy I originally got to know over at the Star BB a few years ago. I guess we all get wound up about something at some time or another, lord knows I've had my share.

Spott 08-27-2001 06:30 AM

Maybe he's still mad about the Jazz choking in the 1st round of the playoffs. You'd think he be used to it by now. :)

Lightning Rod 08-27-2001 08:17 AM

My, my my where to start?

Generally speaking the participates on this BB conduct themselves in a civil manner. The possible exception would be the dog-piling on Ken but, that is not really worthy of additional comment. This virtual community consists of a group of intelligent, passionate, and sometimes arrogant football fans. Many of us still Respect Marty and his accomplishments as a head coach. Most of us think we like Gun as a person, ( I say think because few if any of us actually know the man). Myself and many other people on this BB think Gun rose to the level of his incompetence. I did not see a structured thought process. There was not a clearly defined goal and no clear evidences of success. Marty with all his warts did know how to lead. He knew how to plan. He had a goal and how he thought the team should travel to reach this goal. They never made it but, one could at least see what he was trying to do. General Patton and Dick Van Patton were each suited to the jobs they had. These men were not however interchangeable. Gunny was a very good defensive coach he IMO did not understand delegation and administration but back to the topic at hand. While I can't speak for the others I am excited and optimistic about the upcoming season. Is it because of the so called Ramification of the Chiefs? Sort of. I like what I see and hear from Trent Green. He seems to know what it takes to be a leader. I don't expect to hear " I can't throw it and catch it too". As much as I loved watching the Nigerian Nightmare run over people I think watching Priest Holmes run around them will be fun too. Watching Gun being interviewed last year was often like watching a train wreck it wasn't pretty but you couldn't turn away. Dick Vermeil knows how to say the right things. yes they are scripted and not particularly enlightening but you don't have the queasy feeling of " Oh lord what is he going to say this time?" So basically what I'm saying is Marty and Gun are gone they each did some good things while they were here but, their time has passed. It is pre-season and hope springs eternal this time of year. Might as well hop on the band wagon and try and enjoy the ride. Should the Chiefs go 6-10 this year there will plenty of opportunity for complaining but in the mean time the Chiefs are undefeated in the regular season and we have those Rat-Bastages the Raiders headed to Arrowhead very soon. Ah football, how sweet it is!

Gaz 08-27-2001 08:34 AM

Feh!

A Planet Party Line?. We have so many diverse opinions here that we seldom agree on anything. Throw out any topic and you are going to see a wide diversity of opinion [a wonderful thing, IMO], delivered with a wide diversity of styles.

I do not believe that there is any such thing as a Planet Party Line. I think this is someone trying to bolster his personal view by devaluing any other view that does not concur. Imply that anyone who thinks differently from you is just a sheep following the herd. Given our demonstrated dislike of groupthink, it is intended to shame someone into agreeing with the author, lest he be tainted as lacking independent thought.

This is a shamefully shoddy and transparent tactic that should have died stillborn in the author's head. He did no favor to himself by this lame attempt to assume the mantle of martyr.

Shame on him.

I have been attacked by KC and a few others, but I do not share your anger. There does seem to a group think, but this is only I think a product of the constituency of the BB. This is predominately a conservative board, so any other veiwpoint is not always met with much thought other than derision. Same on football, most are in agreement and some don't like a contrary opinion.

What we all have to do is talk about the opinion, and not the person. It is ok to say Gunther is a bad head coach, but to attribute a list of personal evils to him is not germane and usually very inaccurate. IE Just talking smack is more reflection on the on the originator of the smack than on any answer to a subject.

The current fad of the "ignore button", the "get lost" diatribes, etc. are usually I think by younger, maybe sheltered individuals who have not faced dissent. However, it is a free country and smack, ill manners, lack of judgement, prejudice, ignorance, stupifying rigidity in the face of reality, are all to be tolerated.

splatbass,

How you derived 'Democrats are unintelligent' from my post ~ I have no idea.

The subject was KCJohnny taking truth and spinning it out of all recognition.

If you believe that Clinton never inhaled, that Repubs want dirty water and kids to starve, that Condut has fully co-operated with the police ~ then that's your business.

I mention this DNC blather to Johnny because I don't believe it ~ And neither does Johnny.

Anyone else having a problem with flatulence today?

Phobia 08-27-2001 11:53 AM

Not today, Bob. But a couple of weeks ago, I spent the weekend in Austin with some former friends. I think they are "former" friends because we ate mexican food and drank much brew during that long weekend. If flatulance were an Olympic event, I was the favorite to win then.

Nice post, Bob. Excellant diversionary tactic. I think we'll have lots of other responses to the "other" gas problem.
