Acquisitions Hunter Renfroe (OF), Michael Wacha (SP), Seth Lugo (SP), and Will Smith (RP) going to make all the difference, apparently.

The Star site being available changed things because that is the number one site.

Looks like our man Maikel hit a HR in Venezuela that led to a huge fight.

The team is clearly improved but there’s nothing life changing there regardless of the spending spree. They should be watchable though.

duncan_idaho 01-26-2024 11:22 AM

This team can win the AL Central IF they get the best versions of Singer and Ragans, and Vinnie Pasquantino returns with a vengeance. There are some big IFS there.

Path gets easier if they were to add someone like Chapman in FA.

The other key is someone like McArthur was for real. Have a couple guys like McArthur and McMillon blow up and become lockdown relievers to line up with the veteran relievers they signed. A couple good starters, solid bullpen and Witt, Vinny and Salvy mashing... don't know if it wins the division but you'd think they'd at least run at a wild card spot, which at this point is just getting a little above .500.

2 1/2 weeks until Pitchers & Catchers report, the optimism is high around here.

Another weird deal. It's not a bad move in a vacuum, but like the Hampson deal it doesn't really work with the roster. Do we really need another 2b/utility guy? I don't get what the upside is here unless you commit to playing him all the time and hope to flip at the deadline, which we shouldn't be doing.

Massey is getting dealt is the only answer here..

ChiefsCountry 01-27-2024 12:10 PM

Massey has options. He can go to Omaha.

nychief 01-27-2024 12:13 PM

Ocotillo 01-27-2024 12:24 PM

Typical Royals move.

High contact rate with no punch, and less than ideal walk rate.

We like half measures. We have no money so we would rather sign 3 shitty guys for as much as one good guy would cost.

That league doesn't have the sheer velocity of present day Major League Baseball. It's a circuit full of junk ball pitchers.

Royals have traded Samad Taylor to Seattle for the lovely Player to be named later.

GabyKeepsMeWarm 01-31-2024 12:38 AM

Not Royals related, but looks like the Orioles are gonna finally get new ownership. Don't know anything about this new group, but I doubt it could possibly be worse than the Angelos crew that pretty much ran the team into the ground for the better part of 30 years. Orioles are one of the few AL teams that I've never really had a reason to dislike or hate. They had such a terrific run in the 60's to early 80's, and it's been pretty bad since they won the series in '83. They've got a terrific group of young players right now, and a good farm, with new ownership, they could be the team to beat in the AL for awhile.

He's definitely giving up some projected life time earnings for more certainty. Must be the good BBQ and hanging out with Mahomes.

Its not like the Royals dont have some risk. This is probably a bigger risk for the Royals than it is for the Dodgers signing Ohtani because the Dodgers are worth 6 times as much as the Royals.

I have taken the whole family up to see a Royals game for the last 5 years until the 2023 season. I had just had enough of bad on bad baseball. In 2023 I opted to take my grandkids to their first Chiefs game. 2023 was the first year I hadnt made the trip to The K for any game in a very long time. The Royals may have just won me back with this. I think the grandkids are hooked on the Chiefs now, but there is room for both in my life.
