Horror is a genre I used to really like when younger but kinda stopped following closely and not sure why. Have a bunch of the popular mainstream and indie ones in the past few years in my queue but never seem to get around to it.

H20 was really good- loved that one. For me, it's up there with the first and second.

The fourth and fifth with his niece are watchable.

Season of the Witch, the one with Paul Rudd and Resurrection were all shit.

IIRC it was either on HBO or Cinemax during the free weekend last week

Would you Rather was a good flick, but all I could concentrate on for most of the movie was how ****ing HOT Sasha Grey is.

Is the JJ Abrams Phantasm movie a REMAKE...or is it another film continuing the story of all the others???

Also...watched Zombies 31 this weekend...meh...better than Rejects...but...meh

Watched The Witch this weekend.

Suspense/Thriller type movie...i was a little disappointed. It had some really cool artistic, unique elements. I just don't think the ending did it justice.

I watched Creep last night (yes, my selection is reduced to Netflix). My viewing of this was probably badly timed because it seemed to combine the found footage aspect of VHS and the "get the F away now, dumbass" aspect of Honeymoon. The ending, while probably predictable, still gives you a good chill.

I think the Abrams version of Phantasm is simply a 4k remaster of the original. There is Phantasm Ravager which came out recently with what looks like a continuation from the protagonist in the first movie but I don't think Abrams had anything to do with that one.

I like horror movies that have older cast members. Actors like George C. Scott in The Changeling, Gregory Peck in The Omen, Charles Durning in When a Stranger calls can really add a bit of gravitas.

I watched the Maniac remake from 2012. Worth a watch. Some gory kills and some boobs. Not too crazy about the first person pov camera work though.

I also watched Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. It's a slasher mockumentary. Pretty cool. Slasher fans, or people who enjoyed Cabin in the Woods should like it.

Not as polished as House of 1000 corpses. Not as memorable as Devil's Rejects. I can barely remember Lords of Salem. Not his best work, but it's still a Rob Zombie movie. If you're a fan of his work you'll probably like this film.

This movie was his most lewd. This was clearly aimed to be a shock-horror film and not much else. Example: One of the clowns tells a joke, "What's sicker than ****ing a pregnant woman? ****ing the baby afterwards!"

The overall story is very cliche and been done before. It had some good humor in it, lots of gore. It had a couple of interesting characters and several that were just throw aways...as if they were made simply to fill air time. There were times where i felt like Zombie was trying to channel his inner Tarantino with the dialogue....

Overall i enjoyed it, but you should know what to expect.

so then I went and checked out 13 sins. AWESOME movie! just great. I just love that gal from True Blood...so yummy. and the way they wrapped it up at the end was pretty damn cool.

I'm very....critical of horror movies. they're far and away my favorite...and MOST are far and away just horrible. it's always a breath of fresh air to hit on one that's actually GOOD.

This was much better than expected... the older I get the more I appreciate horror movies with adults and not a bunch of teenagers like most scary movies tend to center around

The ending left me a bit puzzled for sure, but otherwise it was very well done

The more I think about it, the more I realize how trashed I was that night and might've mistaken the HBO description... it probably said something like "see the original before the Abrams remake" or something like like that

It had been so long since I watched the original that I prolly wouldnt know the difference :D

That's fine - the information out there on the remake is very ambiguous.
