Lucky you

Have fun and enjoy it.

Thanks....I plan to do more of what I want to and not what the company wants me to do.

(Oh and more of what my wife wants me to do too)

Congrats, I hope you’re able to take care of your health and enjoy the things that make you happy.

Thanks...I will.

Honestly...that is part of why I am retiring. The heart attack in 2022 reminded me that I am not getting any younger.

Congratulations!

You will enjoy it.

I don't think you need to rush into a new activity, unless you are already involved with some project and would like to be more involved.

No need to commit yourself to some situation where somebody expects you to show up. They aren't the boss of you. You are.

Thanks....sounds like you have been here before.

My wife told me she is giving me 6 weeks of grace to decompress and relish retirement. Then she says the "honey-do" list is fair game.

Congrats.....means both of us will have more time for our respective Chiefs groups here in FL.

Who knows...maybe what I will do is choose a different chapter each game and drive to that city. See some other groups.

Yeah chapters have been wanting me to go watch games with them. Maybe sometime we can meet in the middle and go to the Orlando chapter. They usually get 100+ Chief fans on game day.

I'll also probably go to Jacksonville, ATL, Vegas, LA and the other 3 chapters in my area. We are going to work on getting the international chapters we know exist into the Kingdom this off season.

Congrats! Just checked my countdown clock and I have 6 Months and 20 days to go.

Congrats Mosbonian. I am not retired but I have spent enough time with retired people to give one piece of advice: Have some kind of well-rounded exercise regimen that you prioritize every week as if your life depended on it.

I'm about 5 years into retirement and have made 'puttering' an art form. A series of low key household projects sprinkled liberally with internet perusal, the planet, word puzzles, etc.

A couple years after I started working, the plant manger for our manufacturing facility retired after 35 years there. He was the original manager of the plant - it was pretty much his baby and he had poured a lot of effort into it. Anyway, about months after he retired, the office got a call from his wife, asking, "Is there anything Bob can do out there? Anything?" lol

stay busy, those that retire and don't have hobbies or stay busy struggle and many die soon after. So, find something that stimulates you and keeps you busy, truly have a bucket list and try to check it off, and live long and prosper...

get an obedient, lazy dog

ChiliConCarnage 03-22-2024 04:26 PM

Enjoy, get hobbies or a charity you like to help out.

I'm right behind you. 1 week and 20 years or so

Congrats and go on a trip Spokane Washington is nice this time of year.

Congratulations and after 48 years, it sure sounds like you more than deserve it!

The only advice I have heard from nearly ALL my retired friends is be careful of the Home Depot addiction.

You have all this time, you see a few minor things you want to update, upgrade or fix at your house and you head to Home Depot. It starts innocent enough and you're there maybe once every 10-14 days and don't spend too much. Suddenly you are there every other day and you are racking up $1,000 visits like water.

Before you realize it, everyone in the store knows you on a first name basis, you've been named Customer of the Month and Visa card just upped your credit limit to $50,000.

I am close. Been a shop teacher for 34 years. Lots of steps on concrete have rendered my feet and ankles mush. I now have a scooter at school. Love teaching and fear walking away. Trying to transition in my brain and wallet what retirement will look like.

I envy you, Mos. I wish I could retire right now.
