Strong female lead in an action movie.

Ridley Scott did it right. Nothing is forced.

That just means it's not the right type of woke for 2024 if people loved it back in the 80's, and they have to get to fixing that bullshit right this second.

Alien is not woke because women are specifically lumped in with all the men as incompetent victims in every film.

The focus is on Ripley as INDIVIDUAL, not her gender. Nothing could be less woke than promoting the individual above the group.

In fact, in the modern context, it may be specifically ANTI-WOKE because it is anti-corporation.

And she doesn't even get out every scrape without a man or a robot man saving her ass.

Thanks and **** off.

In particluar "the strong female lead". See Terminator as well.

Nobody has ever had a problem as long as it's done well.

Of all the titles, did they have to use “Romulus”? That’s a terrible idea.

There is some lore behind it. The director's explanation. Sorta minor spoilerish, but not really.

Spoiler!

Wait a minute! There was a sequal to Prometheus? How did I miss this?

Cheater5 03-26-2024 03:01 PM

On the "Quality Sequel" expectation meter, I'm running as close to 0 as you can get for this movie.

2017 - Alien Covenant

ThaVirus 03-26-2024 06:03 PM

Covenant was a huge letdown in my eyes.

Prometheus wasn’t great either but I do enjoy rewatches. Something about the vibe or atmosphere of that one is great.
