You’re right. Forgot about that. I still find that odd since a player “works” on the road 8-on days out of their entire work year.

That's part of the reason why players like higher signing and roster bonuses and less actual salary. It's only their game day check that gets taxed at the other states tax rate.

This is why trading up for a WR is not stupid. Rookie contracts keep you from being hit with these monster deals to keep one player.

That's a lot of cabbage!

It's why finding instant contributors in the the draft in day 2 and 3 is soooooo ****ing important - especially to a perennial SB contending team that will generally have Cap issues like the Chiefs. It's also why Veach is the ****ing GOAT

Never understood the infatuation anyways. He's not the type of WR we like in this offense (contested catches), and he's due to fall off the age cliff any day now.

LMAO

Great deal since it is only a two year deal. AMAZING deal. I thought if the Chiefs had to get involved it wouldn't be any less than 3 years, and maybe even 4.

Mike Evans is the best receiver in football.

It's really, really difficult for a 1 or 2 year deal to be a bad deal. Especially if a team is in it's window. See Travis Kelce. See Chris Jones. I was just assuming Evans was just getting a 3 year deal. That it was just a done deal type of thing. If the Chiefs would have got him for 2 years to pair with Kelce's last two years, holy ****ing shit.

Water under the bridge now. We can still make due. Getting an outside receiver at 32 + Mooney wouldn't be the end of the world but I'd like to swing more for the fences. Win 3 in a row.

So much for wanting to play for SB and with an elite QB. Can't blame him though. That's a great check to cash.

I dont know why anyone would ever take a player seriously when they its about legacy etc.

That's so exceedingly rare....it's ALWAYS about the biggest paycheck.

BWillie 03-04-2024 10:43 AM

Did anyone really think he would only get a 2-year deal? Most of what I saw discussed was a 3-year deal which most of us had some reservations about.

I think they basically have to say it to make the league and agents both happy. Plus, it drives up the offer from the home team.

Shorter deals mean it's that money hitting the cap each year and there's no way to wriggle it around.

alpha_omega 03-04-2024 10:46 AM

Good for him. Movin' on.

It's $, which is fine.

But don't get mad as a player when you say all that then take the money if people call you out on it.

Just be honest. We're all ok with it.

I remember when a reporter asked Zach Greinke why he went to the Dodgers. He was like, well, they paid me the most duh. It was great.
