I don't think that's accurate.

I think if this playoff scenario held true, and the Pats and Chargers both won, the Chargers would go to Pittsburgh since they have the better record and would theoretically be the better team. The Pats would come to Arrowhead.

Previously the Pats were the #2, but they'd be #3 at the moment.

The Chargers would be #3, because they have the better record.

The Pats would be #4, and would advance to Arrowhead, should both they and the Chargers advance.

That scenario looks like we'd get a 3rd game against the Chargers and then Pittsburgh at home.

But the second round matchup does not depend on that, does it. The #1 seed gets the lower remaining seed, not necessarily the team with the worse record.

The Chargers would be the fifth seed, they're a wild card team unless they win the division. The Patriots are the 3rd seed. There's no way we can play the Patriots in the 2nd round in the scenario in the OP.

Is that true? I thought it was always best record after the first round.

Edit: So it is seed-based. Huh. My bad -- thanks for the clarification.

I’d love to play Houston then New England at home. I think that’s the best realistic scenario for us.

I wouldn’t want to have to beat either Pittsburgh or LAC again. That could be a tall order.

Talent-wise the Chargers and Steelers are the best. The Patriots know how to win though. We obviously have a great chance against anyone, especially at home.

Give me the Bengals and then the Texans and then the Redskins, please.

KChiefs1 11-16-2018 07:44 AM

Divisional round could be:

Chargers @ Chiefs
Steelers @ Patriots
Redskins @ Rams
Bears @ Saints

AFC games much more entertaining.

Haha! This site would melt down if Alex Smith took the Redskins to the Superbowl.

As nasty as it is to root for the Steelers, as things stand right now, it seems we should really want them to be the 2 seed.

I think so.

Until the pats are dead and buried I would prefer to just not have to deal with that. Let them be the 2 and 3 seed.

If we do indeed get the 1st seed that is the worst outcome for that scenario IMOP. I think those are the two teams with the best chance of beating us at home.
