There's a facility near me (we installed a ton of heat/ac units for the entire facility) that recycles them. They have huge shredders that mash them up & they seperate all the different metals & resell them.

Drop Off for Free:

Batteries (auto and home use)
Bicycles
Cardboard boxes (flatten and remove non-paper items)
Used Oil, Oil Filters, and Antifreeze
Paper for shredding (shredding done on site)
Scrap Metal


Drop Off for a Small Fee

Appliances: ($10 each) such as a air conditioner, microwave, stove, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, washer, dryer, furnace, dehumidifier, water heater, etc.
Electronics such as computers, monitors, televisions, printers, mobile phones, stereos/radios, MP3 players, etc. ($5 for computers, monitors and TVs, others are free)
Mattress/Box Spring: ($20 per item) any size, clean, unsoiled
Tires: Any size - on or off rim ($2 each)


Not accepted: carpet, exercise equipment, furniture, lamps, leaf blowers, light bulbs, lumber, paint, remodeling debris, trash, vacuum cleaners, yard waste
