Which did you prefer?

I was drinking Eagle Rare during the early 80's at Tavern and Top Deck. Have not had in years.

Small batch was kinda new then. i guess I should try ER again.

Both really good. Probably the ER but not by much

After finishing my shift at Amazon at 5:30am and taking a shower/shave, by 7am this morning I had (2) Church Music IPA beers with a single shot of Jameson's, a cheap Red wine to go with my early morning burger and tater tots, then a Tito's with grapefruit to finish off my meal.

Now I'm at work selling software for my day job......lol

scho63 06-27-2019 10:02 AM

First time I ever had one of these---finished one off with large single ice cube during my late lunch. It had an instant caramel first taste but dissipated quick. A little stronger flavor and alcohol taste than I'm used to with Maccallen 12 or Oban 14 but it was fine

I'm just not a rye fan. I've tried to become more into it, just not my thing.

I do have a bottle of Glenmorangie Signet I got for Xmas that I need to open but i'm saving it for …..some reason.

Sazerac Rye is lovely. So is Knob Creek Rye.

Gotta like a hot finish to like Rye.

Thats a nice haul. I have no desire to move to the Chicago area but I love the idea of having access to exceptional beer.

I brew some really good beer so it helps but like a sandwich, you always like something prepared by someone else.

How was the BKS? How was the Dawg single barrel beer?

Sipped on the Rare Eagle, very nice for the $20 price.

It'a a 2018 Transient Bark Lord. It's still an adjunct beast. I'd like to try it again in 5 years or so to see how it's mellowed.

We're pretty spoiled here, not only for the locals but the distribution footprint. Just due to the sheer market size and amount of great, assessable beers, Chicago doesn't get hyped as much as STL, Florida, California, or New England. I'd say the only hole in our game right now are consistently good wild/sours.

BKS was great as usual. I love how clean and non-fussy his sours are. Thanks for sending it!. The Dawg was diabeetus greatness. Standouts of night for me was the Allagash Coolship Red. It comes very close to JK Atrial which is an all time favorite of mine. I also brought the Modem Tones Date Shake which is amazing. Modern Times has probably my favorite barrel program going right now. They're all great and produced at a level that most are fairly easy to acquire.

I'm currently enjoying the single greatest beer ever made

Its called "Kind of Blueberry" and is made by Old Bakery Brewing in Alton, Il

Spent the weekend down there last week and this place was definitely one of the highlights... this beer is so sublime I can hardly describe it, you immediately get the very strong scent of blueberries, but the taste isnt as strong, its just absolutely perfect

We tried over half their beer menu and it was all incredible, but the blueberry takes the cake

Yeah I really like that one. I've tried a bunch of grapefruit type beers because I love the flavor, but that one is about the best in terms of drinkability that I've found.

Can't ship it in or out of IN. or KS

Wine; Both KS and IN require direct wine seller’s permit and restrict sale in state and have set volumes

Rogue sends me magnum bottles with brewery data all over the box.every year before the holidays. thumbing their nose at IN law.

I have 11 bottles of Eagle Rare, non of the above had me reaching for them. what I'm looking for a "quantity" Bourbon, something that is tolerable to serve neat or rocks and cheap enough to pour 8 drinks with mixers and not get snide comments about being cheap.

I think I am torn between Ezra and Evan for 1.75 bottles at $25.

I love Eagle Rare.

Evan Williams is my go to cheap bourbon. Love the green label but can rarely find it. So black label is my go-to. It's fantastic for making drinks for people. And under $20 for a 1.75L.

My brother absolutely loves Luxco of St lou bourbon brands. I have had this like it pretty well but comes at a price. He can get those owning his own construction company. Do you like licorice as it has a hint of licorice and vanilla. Its a bit harsh if you like your bourbon neat. Brother tames it with a few drops of purified water. Ezra Brooks is a pretty nice 20 dollar bottle. Rebel Yell up the anti a bit in the 40s or splurge on Blood Oath pact 5 thats the real good stuff.

Or if your just after the buzz Luxco's frat party fav 160 proof everclear:D
