I have to say (well, I don't have to, but I will anyway) ... that was a great play by West on the TD. Set up on the hook/checkdown, saw his QB escape left, followed him to get through traffic, and made sure he got Mahomes' attention. Great play by a vet.

I watched just west several times after reading this post.

You're right. That was great veteran play. He even set up a blocker for himself. Maybe on accident though lol

It also says a lot about this team seeing Conley see the exact same thing on that play and head for the same hole in the defense. They all seem to get it

As soon as mahomes breaks to his left everyone goes that way.

SAUTO 12-30-2018 12:25 PM

Those players probably quit on that play with another QB. They usually won't attempt that throw

You have highlighted an aspect of this team that gives me hope, Mr. SAUTO.

After all the hours of All-22 review I've done this season, I can confidently say that a significant percentage of incompletions this year have been due to receivers slowing down on routes. Mahomes simply expects them to maintain their current direction, angle of attack, and speed. When they don't, we have to re-set.

That isn't always the case, of course. The majority of the time, the receivers actually continue to work the scramble drill. But when they don't, it's obvious. Tyreek is one of the guys who tends to slow up, for example. We've missed some critical plays in critical moments for that specific reason (the way I see it).

In all honesty, I believe that, if these guys will just keep running (consistently) as plays diverge into off-script deals, we are unstoppable ... as we were at the beginning of the season. I assume they're seeing that in their film study and will "tighten that up".
