Meet Ted Lasso. . . He's what happens when a Golden Retriever humps a motivational poster until Ned Flanders pops out . . .

The drama category might be the worst list I've ever seen. TV drama golden era over? |

But it would bandy about and then periodically hit you with something heavy. That kind of comedy TV doesn't really resonate with me, especially with regards to sports, but I dug that shit man. |

I really need to start watching Ted Lasso cause I've been a fan of Jason Sudekis for quite some time (loved both of the Horrible Bosses movies, We're the Millers, among a number of other movies he's been in) Also on top of being a funny cool guy, he is also a flat out baller in real life. He's hooked up with some Hollywood beauties over the years. dated January Jones for awhile https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011...11_468x652.jpg He got with Eva Mendes (allegedly ) https://www.etonline.com/sites/defau...?itok=PbY2kRKW Married Olivia Wilde (they recently got divorced but damn he got to hit that for years! (lucky bastard) https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Mzkowiy8l...20/718+es5.jpg I've had the biggest crush of Olivia ever since seeing her in TRON: Legacy way back in 2010 good lord https://www.nydailynews.com/resizer/...OZ7Q4B2SXE.jpg Anyways sorry to get side tracked . Definitely need to start watching Ted Lasso. |
My wife has been watching this Netflix series called "Sex/Life". It's pretty much softcore porn for middle aged women, but I'm cool with it because she gets turned on when she watches it. The hot lead actress seems to be topless for maybe half the show, so that's cool.

Anyone watching Dr. Death?
Dramatized narrative limited series based on actual events. Apparently there is a podcast that inspired it [as well as the underlying facts]. The picture comes into view pretty good, but the driving force of the narrative is figuring out what in the hell this guy was trying to accomplish. Very well acted. Baldwin and Slater play off each other well against type as the firebrand and the institutionalist trying to bring down a renegade. Jackson is a compelling sociopath. Has a lot to say about the deference to the presumption of expertise and the laybrinthine and dangerous path to bring malfeasance to light. Timely issues. <iframe width="1110" height="624" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/WUydwrPAY-M" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> The podcast it's based on here, if you'd rather listen at a slower and more detailed pace https://wondery.com/shows/dr-death/e...elle-shughart/ |

------------- Right, then he wanted me to tell you to say, yeah, obviously our public line will be to say we're considering the offer, but it doesn't matter what you say. He'll never recommend this to the board. You are going to bleed cash. He's going to bleed cash. It will never end, and maybe you'll kill him, but if you don't he'll kill you. He will go bankrupt or go to jail before he lets you beat him. He will kill you on the business, and if that doesn't work, he will **** you around. He will send men to kill your pets and **** your wives, and it will never be over, so that's the message. Good. Well, let's move ahead with that process, shall we? |
Hulu has a new iteration of "American Horror Story" dubbed "American Horror Stories".
Gave it a go the other night. Still Gay AF if anyone was wondering. The overly-gayness is why i stopped watching that series in the 1st place. It's predecessor is still really gay. |
I loved the first season of Bosch. I started the second season, but one thing that irks me is there is a bit too much "father-daughter" story. I hope that gets toned down. It comes across far too forced, like we need a reason to really root for this guy.
|
Quote:
The daughter pet doesn’t go away, but it definitely becomes more nuanced and frankly damned compelling television. Part of the reason it is good is the supporting characters don’t exist to advance the storyline of Bosch. They have their own shit going on and it intersects with Bosch. Maddie included. She’s kind of forced because she’s a teenager, not some experienced world savvy girl. She has her own arc and it is a good one IMO. Great show. Keep watching. |

Low-key the single best moment of Succession. . . Summarizes the entire thing. . .
|
The White Lotus on HBO.
It's a comedy/almost murder mystery where you are rooting for all the characters to die. We just watched the first 5 shows and goddam it's hilarious and addicting. Steve Zahn and the manager Armond are the best characters so I'm hoping it's not either of them that bites it. |
Quote:
Mike White [creator/director] has always been a wild card when it comes to narrative. He finds empathy AND villains in surprising places. The viewers in today's morays are gaggling about what an unmitigated asshole Shane is, and exuding sympathy for Armond despite his growing villainy, and I'm on tinterhooks to see who ends up sympathetic and who ends up the big bad by the conclusion of the narrative. Everyone right now [by my eye] has pulls of villainy and sympathy in relative balance. Maybe because I just finished rewatching Succession while watching this and my eye for nuance in narrative is heightened. I can see why each of them are irritating, but everyone has a foundation of justifability as well. Well crafted, all in all. Brian Williams' little girl Allison had to have breathed a sigh of relief seeing the end of the last episode, now that she's no longer the go-to visual for that particular plot development. ;)

And I'm honestly at a loss for words. I didn't know what to expect, and what I got was . . . unexepected. And that's not necessarily good, . . . perhaps not necessarily bad. If I had to sum in up in one word, . . . trainwreck. In two words, fascinating trainwreck. But again, not necessarily in a good way. The thing it reminded me most of was Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip . . . the gold standard for masochistic hate watch. It comes down to the writing. The actors and their performances were good and kept you coming back. But David E. Kelly was at his David E. Kelly-ist with the script. Everything was atmosphere and anticipation, then when you think you've gotten somewhere, it just deflates and moves on to the next. Nothing was coherent. Nothing made narrative sense. I think he had vibe he was going for, and just didn't put in the work to tie it together and get the details right. The case didn't make sense. The characters and their motivations seemed cobbled together from the specific scenes Kelly wanted to have on film. Someone would be angry for no reason out of nowhere one moment, then gushing about all their pride, love and affection the next. At times, the narrative and dialog actually approached the amatuerism of The Room, . . . yes, that The Room. I could go on and on, the are so many small details at odds with each other and plot holes and dead ends and confusing motivations and on and on and on. It seems I am as capable of being fascinated by failure as I am by quality. I can't even say whether or not I'd recommend it. It's an experience, and the performances are compelling, moment to moment, . . . but it doesn't make sense unless your brain is turned completely off and you just live in each scene for the scenery chewing. |

can someone honestly tell me there are any good shows left? i use imdb, but that's more so for upcoming movies (i will admit there are a few obscure ones i find potentially interesting), but **** me... it seems i can not find a dogdamnit decent thing to watch. doesn't matter the genre. it all looks like, and in most cases within the first episode, ends up being trash.. i need help, maybe i need to mow the yard again one level lower? |

Might be late to this one but binged Mare of Easttown on HBO this weekend, great show.

David Fincher directed a bunch of the episodes too (director of Seven & Zodiac). Its utterly fascinating and very detailed look at studying serial killers. Just letting you know though its very dark and not for the squeamish. And then there is my other favorite Netflix show called Ozark . A financial advisor drags his family from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks, where he must launder money to appease a drug boss. Jason Bateman , Laura Linney and the rest of the cast are so good in this. Highly recommend it. (Season 4 should hopefully premiere later this year but who knows cause of this damn pandemic put filming on hold) |
The White Lotus was fantastic from start to finish. Bravo to the show creator/writer & director Mike White for making such a darkly funny / effed up show!
|
The Ozarks definitely looks interesting, but i'll probably wait until the series wraps up before checking it out. Too many serialized shows fail to stick the landing.

I watched Hit and Run on Netflix.
Expected to totally hate it. It does a lot of things really well. Particularly in the beginning. They make a lot of shooting a scene from the viewpoint of someone spying then revealing the spy, but they also shoot a lot of scenes that way only to reveal there's no spy. Pretty clever bit of filmmaking to keep you engaged and thinking. Writing was really well done to the point that it kept you guessing until they revealed it all, then kind of shifted gears to a survival gig. I was invested in the characters and the story. Even though I knew it was going to happen,
Spoiler!
Another thing that it did pretty right was not get too big for itself. - They made a big deal of how much of a bad ass Segev was, but he was no super hero. He took damage, got his ass beat when he was outnumbered, got tired when he ran, and was generally realistic in terms of capabilities. -Showed difficulty with logistics, information, communication when shit got real. - Didn't let the story get too big. Kept it all pretty isolated. They knew he couldn't withstand the full weight of either agency so they wrote it accordingly. There were a couple minor leaps that are a tiny bit hard to believe, but in the grand scheme its one of the more believable flicks out there. There was also a surprising amount of quippy humor that helped keep it from being too depressing. |
Quote:
Have you seen Mr. Robot by any chance? It stars Rami Malek and Christian Slater. It was a popular show on USA Network that premiered in 2015 about a computer hacker with lots of problems and gets into tons of trouble with the wrong people. I thought it was really well done & pretty "out there". It has 4 seasons. I'm pretty sure Season 1 is on Amazon Prime to stream these days. |

Don't get me wrong, there are a TON of tits. I am a fan of tits. That is public record, but I made it through like 3 seasons, and I just....couldn't. I'm a cold hearted son of a bitch, but even I have limits of how much... I don't know.... losing, maybe, one story can tell. No redemption, very little character moments that aren't ruined by ****ery, and generally, no ****ing happiness. I dunno. Maybe I missed it. Your other entries though, first class. I'm a total schlub for Bosch - I'm bordering on groupie. |

I've been watching Brand New Cherry Flavor on Netflix. It's pretty good but is also really weird.
|
I've watched a couple episodes of Heist on Netflix. Its a docuseries on unique crimes that have been committed.
The Bourbon King was especially interesting to me as I hadn't heard that story. Guy(s) basically steals a bunch of high valued Pappy Van Winkle bottles and full barrels of other bourbons to impress his softball buddies and feel like "the guy". It of course gets national attention and goes sideways on him. |

My options are limited since I don't like sci fi,horror or zombie shows. Yeah Bosch is great and I watched another series recently where he had a minor role. I just watched Ozark three seasons all again. :D |

Didn’t want to start a new thread but Band of Brothers is doing a Podcast for the 20 year anniversary and it looks like it’s going to be really good. Looking forward to it!

Not a series but a pretty fun watch is Untold: Crime & Penalties on Neflix.
Its the story of the "real life Tony Soprano" who buys a United Hockey League team for his then 17 year old son so he can use it to launder money from his mob tied trash business. The 17 year old kid acts as GM and constructs the Dansbury Trashers based on his love for The Mighty Ducks movie and WWE wrestling. The team is a shit show of ex-cons and brawlers who wreak havoc on the league but wind up endeared by the entire community with their brand of hockey. Recommended to mindlessly kill off an hour and a half of your life. |
Happy! That show is ****ing bonkers, but really good.

Don’t know why I waited so damn long to start watching Fargo, but damn it’s fire!! Season 1 was really good. We’re almost done with season 2 and holy shit. Idk if they’ll be able to outdo this season. Probably my favorite character is Mike Milligan. That guy is so ****ing calm, and smooth.
