Robertson and Harris have skills that can help a team win. Phillips is just awful, and because no one respects (or should respect) his offense, they can sag off on him because he can't shoot, and when he drives he can't finish, so he just ends up dribbling into trouble and then trying to Pressey himself out of a tight spot.

'Hamas' Jenkins 12-23-2017 09:14 PM

Zero bench points. Not one.

kcpasco 12-23-2017 09:16 PM

21 turnovers 20% from 3 and lost by single digits. Illinois must really stink.

He couldn't have been worse than Geist in this game.

Oh, he was. 0-2 from the field, 0 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 turnovers, 5 fouls.

i said something similar earlier this year and was called out on it.

So Geist, who averages more points, rebounds, and assists than Phillips and has shot at a higher percentage than the team's top three scoreers is an F-?

Don't be a ****ing idiot.

Vs non-pressure teams, Geist is better. Vs pressure teams, Phillips is better

If Geist had played big minutes he'd have 10 or more turnovers

Practically lost the WVU and Illinois games because Geist allows the other pressure team to outscore us by ten because of his turnovers.

Martin should know better. Hope he learned

ChiefsCountry 12-23-2017 10:05 PM

That was quite the shit show in person. Mizzou needs Ramey ****ing bad and a either a grad or juco transfer point for next year.

Bit of an over exaggeration wouldn't you say. He's a freshmen and did alot of good things too

He can't even dribble with the ball 5 feet before he loses control, every single time he brings it up. He would still show flashes of greatness from time to time regardless of how bad he is struggling, he hasn't shown me a thing.

Harris is the best PG on the team and it isn't particularly close. He has good handles, good vision and outstanding quickness. He's a solid passer and is generally smart with the ball.

But he gets sped up. Shit happens with freshman guards. He plays at one speed and oftentimes that's just too fast and too careless. As he matures he'll get better on the scoring side (that teardrop he shows sometimes will get more consistent and he'll get better at finishing around the rim) and the game won't be nearly as fast to him.

He's gonna be a very good player as early as next year. By his JR and SR years, he'll be in the conversation for the best PG in the conference. There's a LOT to like about Harris, IMO.

Great post.

Martin needs to lengthen the leash on Harris, especially against teams that pressure. Geist and Phillips very clearly can't handle it.

Against teams that don't pressure as much, you could shorten the leash as a teaching mechanism if you wanted.

Right - he needs to let Harris deal with the pressure teams. There's a good chance that he's already the best equipped to deal with them and he's the only person on the roster with a chance to be truly good at it.

Geist is a useful role player with weaknesses that Martin needs to protect against. That most obvious weakness is the press - he's staggeringly bad at it. So stop asking him to beat it. This is the best version of Geist we'll ever get and it's fine - he's a decent enough player (a basketball Albert Wilson) he's just not a particularly good one.

Phillips...man I hate it but he's just not good enough.

Is this the same woman who did the play-by-play for the Chiefs on Sunday?

Pepe Silvia 01-03-2018 08:24 PM

If there were ever a time for a Grayson Allen trip I fully support one on Silva.

petegz28 01-03-2018 08:33 PM

Porter off to another not-so-hot start.....Refs being a little inconsistent on the offensive foul calls as well

petegz28 01-03-2018 08:34 PM

WTF what kind of call was that, Ref? They commit an illegal screen, elbow our guy in the face and we get called for a foul.....

Dartgod 01-03-2018 08:36 PM

****ing turnovers.

petegz28 01-03-2018 08:36 PM

Every time we have started to pull away the Refs have jumped in somehow...called a flagrant 1 earlier and now that bullshit on what should have been an illegal screen...

Kid has a lot of potential but just gets sloppy. Good drives inside then has no idea what to do....

petegz28 01-03-2018 08:46 PM

collectively on the offensive side, we do a shit job of getting open. Ball handler gets double teamed and no one can get open for shit for an outlet.

petegz28 01-03-2018 08:54 PM

Oh **** you Ref...JFC that was not a charge....****ing bullshit

Dartgod 01-03-2018 08:54 PM

TrebMaxx 01-03-2018 08:54 PM

Cause of a couple 3's. I want to see him finishing stronger at the rim. I wish the coaches would have him work inside more and use his size. Especially when Tillmon is on the bench.

'Hamas' Jenkins 01-03-2018 09:00 PM

Well, they're up 12 because they shot their ****ing taint off from three in the first half, but they can't count on SCAR going 1-9, either.

I thought their defense was decent. Too sloppy on the offense though. That's been a problem all season that hasn't gotten much better. Too many bad passes, sloppy passes or just out of control drives.

Pitt Gorilla 01-03-2018 09:04 PM

Phillips drives me nuts.

'Hamas' Jenkins 01-03-2018 09:05 PM

In an offense with young, small guards, if they can't finish at the rim, you're going to get a lot of sloppy looking drives. That's why Phillips sucks so much. He's too slow to beat someone off the dribble, and on the off chance he does drive into the paint, he's not athletic or strong enough to finish, which means he has to try and thread the needle to pass out of it.

petegz28 01-03-2018 09:17 PM

Of course another offensive foul.....

petegz28 01-03-2018 09:18 PM

LMAO FFs, they throw an elbow on Geist and he gets called...are you ****ing kidding me?

petegz28 01-03-2018 09:21 PM

no call on the hack on Geist.....

WhawhaWhat 01-03-2018 09:23 PM

Stupid foul.

petegz28 01-03-2018 09:23 PM

This is where MU has had problems this season. Out to a large lead....now they have to hold it...can't let SCAR go on a run like they have let so many other teams this season...

petegz28 01-03-2018 09:24 PM

Provided we don't go into tard mode by committing a bunch of dumb fouls and turnovers and slinging up a bunch of quick 3's

petegz28 01-03-2018 09:30 PM

This is one of the flashes you see from Geist that you wish he could do more consistently

Pepe Silvia 01-03-2018 09:31 PM

I guess Mizzou got the good Geist tonight.

petegz28 01-03-2018 09:34 PM

petegz28 01-03-2018 09:42 PM

**** me..how many times do you see guys throw up a desperation 3 to beat the clock and drain it....and Tillmon picks up #4 with another offensive foul

Priest31kc 01-03-2018 09:42 PM

The Illinois game sucked and was frustrating as hell, but this is a nice bounce back performance on the road.

32 straight SEC road losses about to come to an end in Cuonzo's first SEC road game

God Kim Anderson was such a disaster.

When it's the other team? All the freaking time.

petegz28 01-03-2018 09:44 PM

Poter has a sweet shot from the outside...just wish and hope he develops his inside game

petegz28 01-03-2018 09:49 PM

That was ****ing stupid...you lose track of the shot clock then let them drive it right down to the basket....bad situational awareness

petegz28 01-03-2018 09:51 PM

There goes Porter for the game...****ing stupid...why do you foul when you have 4 and you're up by 20? Tillmon comes in with 4 and suddenly we have no inside game

Pitt Gorilla 01-03-2018 09:54 PM

Porter WAS the offense. Somebody needs to step up.

petegz28 01-03-2018 09:55 PM

Here is goes, 20 pt lead down to 13 in not even a minute...too many quick dumb shots and too many quick dumb fouls

petegz28 01-03-2018 09:56 PM

Silva has 4 fouls and we start shooting quick 3's instead of drive the rim ....
