It needs to be. ILB across from DJ has been the weakness of the defense forever and DJ is getting long in the tooth.

staylor26 08-01-2017 11:51 AM

It would be fitting that Dorsey finally hit on an ILB in his final draft with the Chiefs.

I'm starting to get a weird feeling that Tamba may not be on the roster for long.

I hope they all hit. Wilson, Eligwe and KPL.

History has shown us that there will be missed time at both ILB positions.

Once again, they cannot cut him without taking an immediate $9.2 million dollar cap hit, which would leave them with less than $2 million.

That won't cover injuries or adding players to the 53.

They're stuck with him this year.

penbrook 08-01-2017 11:54 AM

I havnt heard anything on Sorenson. How is he looking?

staylor26 08-01-2017 11:56 AM

I think Wilson starts next to DJ.

Eligwe's probably DJ's replacement next year unless he just tears it up and they have no choice but to put him at TED.

This. Dorsey guaranteed his salary for this year when he extended him. Hali isn't going anywhere unless it's in a trade. And who's going to trade for him at this point with that salary?

If DJ is the old DJ he will be starting here as long as he continues to play. He continues to defy Father Time or he's either roiding it up.

I was wondering about that. Is he a Will or a Mike? We have seen them try to plug in Mauga, Wilson and March at DJ's spot when he was injured, but they were not able to play that side as well. We need someone that can play DJ's side. I hope that Eiigwe can be that man.

It would be one thing if he was healthy but which team is going to trade for a 33 year old guy that can't practice and is starting, for the second consecutive year, on the PUP list, and also has a $9 million dollar cap hit?

Hali's contract was grossly mishandled by Dorsey.

That might be a possibility. It knocks our dead money down to roughly $3M and we gain $5M in cap space.

Yea Eligwe's long term position is WILB, so that's how I see it playing out.

I'm glad to see that it is a priority.

DJ, Mauga and JML were all hurt for extended periods of time last year. We needed to bulk up that entire position.

The Chiefs ran a series of short-yardage drills during Monday’s training camp session, offering a glimpse of what the team hopes will be an area of improvement this season.

Kansas City ranked 22nd in rushing attempts on first down (86) and 26th in first-down completion rate (20.9 percent) last season.
Glad to see they are working on this and making it a priority, but I am still pissed that we didn't acquire a true blocking TE. After Kelce, the rest of the lot couldn't block for shit.

I’ve been most impressed with what I’ve seen from Travis, but he’s had good training camps before

Uh, no, dipshit.

This is the second camp for Travis after being signed to the Practice Squad in 2015.

Travis had a decent camp (note, singular) in 2016, which allowed him to stick, but he fell apart during the regular season.

That report doesn't provide any further insight. It's just fanspeak.

I don't care who wrote it, it comes across as fan speak.

And if Sweeney's been there the past three years, he's familiar with Smith looking like Favre in TC, then reverting to Alex Smith once the season begins and therefore should know better than to hype him at this time of the year.

There's no tackling right now, either. It's all just for mental work.

This is the best offensive roster NE has ever had. Yes better than the 18-1 season

I think Brady's age starts to show up this year...he's almost 40. When it happens..it usually happens fast.

Nope. He actually takes care of his body unlike Manning did. He's going to be good for at least 2 more years at least IMO.

Manning didn't take care of his body? Maybe not to the extent that brady does, but that's bullshit.

All we need to do is hit Brady. Easier said than done, but at that age, nobody wants to get hit.

He does a great job taking care of his body but you can't beat age. There is only so much you can do. Eventually he will start to decline.

Will it happen this year? It's possible. Likely, no, but possible.

Not like he should. Yeah he was in great physical shape externally. Diet is everything.

Brady has been on a high antioxidant diet to fight inflammation for years. He eats right and now you're seeing guys like Rodgers do it too.

Brady is infamous by defensive players being the whinniest bitch to the refs when he's hit, and rule changes occurred to facilitate him too.

That won't stop the aging process. Maybe slow it down a little, but that's it. He will be 40 in a couple days.

It's certainly possible that he starts to show his age this year. I think next year is more likely though.

Possibly but that's most likely why they got Brandon Cooks. It's a WCO with guys like Edelman and Cooks to get open quickly and Gronk getting open in the middle.

Brady's diet will surely help him extend his body for awhile longer. It's cool seeing this become a trend.

Aaron Rodgers gave up dairy and eats close to a vegan diet and David Johnson gave up added sugar. Guys are learning how to take care of themselves better.

Yeah I give the guy a lot of credit it isn't easy to eat like that. Takes a lot of discipline. Here's a good article on his diet for those that are interested

http://www.webmd.com/diet/news/20160...undchen-diet#1

But with that said eventually age will catch up to him. Who knows when but it will happen.

They most certainly geared up on FAs due to his age. Belichick isn't the GOAT because he doesn't plan ahead.

Brady had the luxury of resting for 1/4 of the season last year...dont discount that. At that age, injuries happen/linger that wouldn't at 25...

I'm not saying he fades in obscurity this season...I'm saying the odds of going an entire year, injury-free, gets less likely.

I couldn't imagine taking NFL-level hits at his age...

Most tight ends coming out of college can't block, as they've never been asked to block in Spread Offenses.

Guys I'm interested in seeing other than Pat Mahomes:

LB Ukeme Eligwe

Poe wasn't really that big of a loss, IMO. His back is pretty much done. He'll be an average player at best at this point in his career who will flash every once in a while.

LB Ukeme Eligwe -- Touted by Toub, said he's going to lose him from ST to defense soon, "he's that good."
OL Bryan Witzmann - been running with the 1's, unseating Fulton.
RB Kareem Hunt - as advertised. Great hands, great vision, lacks elite speed.
WR Seantavius Jones - has been running with the 1s on occasion, and is producing against good defenders. Shown excellent hands and the ability to get open and come down with the ball. This is his 4th year, and he has legit size (6'3", though don't tell anyone in the Mahomes Thread or we'll have WW III, or is it WW II? What does Rivals list it as?)

This is what I've gathered based on camp reports, interviews, and tweets. I am not at camp, personally.

Tamba is not an ass. He's a great player who has done a lot for the Chiefs and has never once asked to be traded or cut despite how bad we have been when he was here.

He's the hardest worker we have, Reid has said this several times and so did Romeo when he was the HC. If he isn't practicing there is a good reason, believe me.

Horse shit.

It's the freakin' start of camp. The first goddamn day. They're not going to hold him out on the first days of camp due to "precautionary measures" if he's ready to go.

DJ just came off an achilles tear. Where's his "precautionary measures"?

Berry was a few months removed from freakin' chemo and he was out there on the first day of camp. Where were his "precautionary measures"?

You know what they do with players who need to be eased in? Players who need "precautionary measures"? They run them. They play them. THEN they rest them a few days and do it again.

They don't put them on the PUP.

Any word on how Benny Logan is looking? Loosing Poe and others leaves some big shoes to fill. I know he has looked good in the past. Is he a penciled in starter?

Hasn't been much coverage on him. Only time i can recall hearing his name was on a 1v1 drill where he puss-pounded Mitch Morse.
