I have no problem saying I was wrong about Albert Wilson and wish him the best, especially since Sammy Watkins is a huge upgrade. Wilson was a gamer in my opinion, though. If you close your eyes you can probably remember at least three third and long situations where he got the first down against all odds.

Agreed on Wilson, undrafted guy who managed to stick and got better every year... best wishes on him

Its somewhat amazing that I was going to be content rolling with Hill, Conley, Wilson and whichever of the young guys stepped up for 2018... we went from a sneaky good role player like Al, to a player who can be a #1 in his own right

You go, Brett Veach

That group would be decent enough IF Hill and Kelce were to stay healthy. If injuries occurred though, we’d have real problems..

Now we add Sammy, and I just can’t wait to see what defenses try to do. In theory, you’d like to double team Watkins because he can run any route and is explosive. But then you’re left one on one with Hill, who can run past a CB even with a 10 yard cushion. Kelce gets extra safety attention as is.

But if teams double Hill and try to contain the deep ball, then you’re stuck 1v1 with Watkins who can get open against anyone under those circumstances and take a game over (see BUF@KC, 2015, among others).

I don’t see anyone stopping that unit too easily if they’re 100% healthy.

Hill is a human pit bull. That guys built to take beating and keep on rolling.

We are going to see a ton of zone defense this season.

Couldnt agree more, it was a killer move that not only creates nearly impossible mismatches on the field, but it also creates a great bulwark against injury

Replacing Wilson with Watkins was a brilliant stroke for Veach, Mahomes is going to feast this year... camp cant come soon enough, the anticipation for 2018 is a sickness

This has been a pretty overhyped issue.

He got injured in 2016. It's football. Guys get injured.

Great.

Have fun dealing with Kelce up the seam and Hunt out of the backfield.

And those deep ins to Reek and Watson will clear that right up.

This offense should be really ****ing good next season. Too many weapons.

I’m not going to expect them to put up 30 a game or anything, but I do expect there to be games where the offense just can’t be kept up with and they roll teams.

I expect 30+ a game. I just need the Special Teams to get back to what they used to.

BossChief 06-22-2018 09:28 AM

The opening stretch is going to test the offenses ability to move the ball and score points. It’s gonna be a fun first 6-7 game stretch and I’m prepared to see Pat make lots of mistakes. We’re all gonna need to be patient

I see the last 1/2 of the season being more fun to watch once PM2 gets his feet underneath him in rhythm with the NFL game as well and more importantly owning and coming into his own as a play caller. I agree he will make a bunch of mistakes and patience is a must at this point.

That guy is drunk if he thinks Hill will sign for 11m per year after having 2 huge years with Mahomes.

So... color me totally unimpressed thus far.

Sassy Squatch 08-18-2018 11:32 AM

Yeah. Dude was playing lazy last night. No effort to come back to the ball in the endzone and that pass that hit him in the hip was behind but an NFL receiver should be able to bring that in.

New World Order...nail...on...the....head!!! I’ve heard/read this year’s Chiefs offense compared to the 99 Rams has on tons of shows, articles, etc. This happens with NWO a lot. And to think ESPN had a list where they ranked our skill players in the bottom 5-7 in the league prior to the season...ROFL

For those of you guys who are discussing the weather, I’d probably just go with what NWO wrote.

If there's torrential rain, blame Weather.com

If there's little-or-no rain, then I'll take the credit :D

I was confused, it was actually a list that ranked every team’s WR1 situation. They considered KC’s a tandem with Hill and Watkins and they had us at #28.

Here is the excerpt for that:

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/2...s-all-32-teams

2018 outlook: Hill's numbers might not match those from last season (75-1,183-7) because the Chiefs added another legitimate threat at wide receiver in Watkins, but Hill remains a vital part of the Kansas City offense because of his big-play ability. Hill has two seasons remaining on the rookie contract he signed with the Chiefs in 2016 as a sixth-round draft pick. -- Adam Teicher, ESPN Chiefs reporter

Projected target share: 23/21 percent. Hill isn't your traditional No. 1 wideout, standing at 5-foot-10, 185 pounds and contributing often as a rusher and returner in addition to a large role as a wide receiver. Still, there's no question he emerged as Kansas City's top wideout last year, handling 23 percent of the targets while playing 82 percent of the offensive snaps in 16 games. He'll have more competition for targets this year with 2014 fourth overall pick Watkins in the house. Last season's 15 percent target share was underwhelming, but Watkins was on the field for 88 percent of the Rams' pass plays and handled a 25 percent share while operating as the Bills' clear top wide receiver from 2014-1

rico 10-06-2018 12:23 AM

That list is ****ing reeruned. They have the committee attacks automatically classified as “tier 4” aka the bottom and there are cases where both WR’s are much better than the WR1’s in the upper tiers.

FloridaMan88 01-12-2019 07:45 PM

Yeah Sammy Watkins wasn't perfect today... he had the fumble and a few drops and maybe it was due to rust... but it is obvious his presence takes the offense to another level.

Yep. He gave them a boost for sure and should only get better here as we go on.

These games are why you signed him. To have a damn near unstoppable offensive attack.

SAUTO 01-12-2019 07:46 PM

He earned his pay today

Graystoke 01-12-2019 07:49 PM

He did.
The drop and fumble though.
Getting him back up to game speed

JakeF 01-12-2019 07:49 PM

Our offense is just at another level when Watkins is in the game. He may not put up big numbers but he opens up the field for the rest of the offense. We need to draft someone to take his place so we aren't at the mercy of his injuries next year. Need that quality #2 WR to protect Hill and Kelce.

Cosmos 01-12-2019 07:49 PM

Did his foot survive?

Mecca 01-12-2019 07:50 PM

He looked to be moving well out there, it was a welcome sight to see him back.

ThaVirus 01-12-2019 07:50 PM

It's actually pretty incredible the boost he gives this offense.

The hype kind of died down after we lost Hunt and Watkins basically mid season, but we still ended up with the third most points ever scored. IF we can get the job done and win a Super Bowl after some good offensive showings, unlike other great offenses like the 07 Pats and 13 Broncos, does that put the 18 Chiefs in the discussion for best offense of all time?

Because it's so likely he's focused on BBQ or comic books or something else before the biggest game of his career...
