Hamas, I need your advice. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a couple of Ping items.

1)LH Ping G10 Grafalloy Epic shaft. $110

2) PING i15 IRON SET 4-PW.LEFT-HANDED.495$

MATCHING SERIAL NUMBER
Black Dot (Standard loft & lie)
AWT (Ascending Weight Technology) STIFF FLEX STEEL SHAFTS
Upgraded Ping ID8 Ribbed Grips
Set Measures Standard in Length.

Obviously they are used. Have wanted to buy a set of Ping's for a while. If this isn't a good deal can you help me find the best chance at getting a good used for the right price? LH'ed of course.

1) Great deal if that club is in decent shape. That shaft has suffered from breakage issues, so you might check to see if it was WRX installed or done aftermarket.

2) I'm assuming the shafts are CS-Lite? Those are good shafts. Again, a really good deal. FWIW, you may be able to find new i10s or even i5s for that price or lower at a local shop.

Why don't driving ranges have grass around here yet? Who wants to hit off of mats? Worthless.

The worst thing about hitting off of mats isn't the turf, it's the fact that I can never find a tee of a suitable length for my driver. They are either 5" off the ground for hackers who top everything or 1.5", which makes it too tall for fairway woods and too short for a driver.

I hear you there. It also completely limits your mishits on your short irons. You hit one fat? Big deal. Your club will just scoot along the mat and you'll still hit a good shot. I want to see a foot long divot and my ball go 10 feet and then cuss at it. Not to mention the green mat discolors my clubs so I have to scrub that mat residue off :cuss::cuss:

Yep. I hate those ****ing things. About all mats are useful for is warming up or hitting the range in winter when the grass is usually closed.

That's a huge thing people don't realize about mats - they completely mask all/most your ball striking deficiencies.

Depends on your knowledge of your own swing and your feel.

Personally, I can tell you where I hit every ball based on how it feels 1/10 of a second after impact.

Unfortunately, I've played at enough munis to where I've had few other options when I've warmed up.

Right now, the course where I usually hit balls has octagonal mats, which can actually make it difficult for you to take a full stance.

Sound can also tell a huge amount, especially on iron shots.

Let's keep in mind the level of golfer that usually uses mats.

Anybody watching The Memorial? This Rickie Fowler lad is blowing away the field. He's 21 but looks 17.

And he's hitting everything square. Looks like he feels no pressure at all.
