As an oldtimer this is a bad idea, because then you're pushing upon a mob mentality. BTW, we tried this before and it was discontinued because of said reason

I'll be serious for a moment too. Really seems like something that isn't needed. It's just gonna be used to signal out groups of postera who people don't like. Like the Alex ball washers or the Alex bashers. While you recommend posters here to use this system "correctly," it will realistically just get abused, as this place is small enough where you know every poster and who you like and don't like.

Kind of mob rules in the public forum of debate...could make for petty, like-minded cliques to approve or disprove and member pile-ons.

I'm not going to use it even if I dont like the post...just going to be old fashioned and ignore it.
