I'd rather see him just wrecking shit in Star Wars theme parks. That Krayt Dragon scene was one of the most perfect action sequences in the history of the franchise. The IMAX shots, my ****ing GOD.

Yeah, **** turning Mando into a super hero saving the galaxy. Keep this down to the ground.

Yeah, that's what I thought too. It was worth a chuckle the first time. But then we find out that Frog Lady was actually super smart and that just made it weird and awkward when they continued with it. Like others have said, it felt contradictory to what they'd been trying to establish up to this point.

It was most certainly cringe-worthy at best and horrifying at worst.

I didn't see any "humor" at all in that episode, especially given that it was stated repeatedly that this would be the final offspring of her life cycle.

Eh. My wife, who loves all things babies, always and forever, laughed at it.

I didn't dig it, but it got a chuckle out of her.

Much to my surprise, because I thought "maybe it's just me?", there have been quite a few articles posted on the internet on the usual TV and Film news related websites in which people had the same reaction.

I kid you not, when I saw BY approach the eggs and put his hands on the container, I was saying to myself "Don't do it, don't do it, please don't do it", then he did it.

I wouldn't have any issue had they not been sentient life forms but I have to say, it really turned me off.

Hell, they could get away with using existing footage for a lot of it.

Maybe 30 years ago but not today.

Shooting on location is a bitch, which is why Sound Stages exist. Otherwise, the production company would need to hire Location Scouts, pull permits, pay for travel, cartage, lodging and food for a huge crew of people, hope that the lighting is right for the shoot, then further enhance the shots with VFX.

The Volume is the future because it allows the actors to actually feel as if they're on location because their surrounding are constantly changing as the actors move.

And while it's certainly not cheap, 6+ hours of Star Wars for $150 million is an absolute bargain.

As far as the eggs, while I'd like to read some deeper meaning into it (maybe being raised by Mando is going to keep the child's morality pretty gray...), I really think they were playing for juvenile cute, and it misfired in a kind of dark and creepy way.

Looked up ‘ The Volume’ and watched a video on it because I had no idea what you were talking about. Pretty damn amazing! They had me entirely fooled because I really thought a lot of it was shot on location somewhere.

Frazod 11-10-2020 10:09 PM

One thing that just occurred to me - if those eggs were so precious to frog lady, which didn't she keep them in a safer container? I mean, do they not have padlocks in the Star Wars universe? It's not like BY used the force to get at them; he just lifted the lid.

She also didn't seem to notice/give a crap that some of the eggs went missing. You'd think that if they truly represented the end of family lineage she might have paid a bit more attention to the count.

From my understanding, Lucasfilm has as many as 6 additional Star Wars series in development. That doesn't include Obi Wan, Rogue One, Ahsoka or Leslye Headlund's female-centric series.

FWIW, "Development" means that someone pitched an idea for a series that Lucasfilm liked, so they appropriate resources (i.e., money) towards the idea and see how far the idea can be taken to fruition.

I haven't heard anything specific in regards to a Boba Fett series but it seems kind of weird to pursue yet another Mandalorian/Mercenary/Bounty Hunter kind of series at this point in time.

It appears that this may be a running gag throughout this season and now, I actually think it's a pretty funny.

I have to admit, as horrifying as it was to see him eat those eggs last week, the humor of the situation has mostly pushed that aside after seeing Chapter 11, especially knowing that at least one of their progeny survived.

Hammock Parties 11-14-2020 12:49 PM

Another thing I liked about this episode was a brief exploration of Quarren culture.

I'm fairly certain on Mon Cal they're very civil and live in harmony with the Calamari, but on THIS particular backwater planet...

Man, they're a bunch of ****ing assholes!!! LMAO

They did a nice job of pulling off the prosthetics + CGI on those actors playing Quarren...meanwhile there was something "off" about the Mon Cal headpieces. The eyes looked cheap.

Off the top of my head it seems like Baby Yoda has a real preference for eating living things, especially if they are moving around at least a little bit. Sort of like a cat. Makes me wonder if he is subsisting on not just the living tissue but the force present in all living things. I don't know. Just throwing it out there.

I haven't seen Apollo 13 in probably 20 years but that sequence seemed really, really familiar upon first watch and by the third watch, it was really bugging me.

I did an internet search and found out that I wasn't the only one that found it familiar, then it was like "Duh!". I should have put 2+2 together but I gotta say, I was so wrapped up in the events of Chapter 3 that I really couldn't think straight.

I watched all 3 Chapters of Season 2 this weekend twice and still believe this is the best 90 minutes of Star Wars since Return of the Jedi, from the story to the dialogue and cast to the score (which has been absolutely phenomenal this season) to the visuals.

If the quality of these Disney+ series remain at the same level as The Mandalorian (and with the people they've hired, there's no reason to think they won't), I think the failure of the sequels and prequels will soon begin to fade away because THIS is the Star Wars I know that I've always wanted, not Midichlorian nonsense or trade war politics or the Emperor's long lost granddaughter coming to "Save the day".

The only thing "missing" so far are some really cool Jedi-Sith lightsaber battles but seeing Mandalorians fly in and kick all kinds of ass has most certainly made up for it.
