LMAO How the hell do you even attempt to handwave away the Kitchens hire. That was a horrific blunder by Dorsey along with his failure to address the OL that led to Mayfields sharp regression.

Remember how badly teams wanted Gase when he was the OC for Manning? Now it's obvious Manning carried that relationship.

Is Mahomes like that with Bienemy?

I dont think it's the same. EB is a leader. Team loves him.

Gase was considered an offensive genius (lol), but did you ever get the impression he could lead men?

My fear is that not only could EB head to Atlanta, but what if he takes a guy like Matt House or Brendan Daly to head up his defense....

Its generally considered bad form to pillage your former teams' staff. I dont think he would do it.

It's unclear what Gase has ever accomplished in the NFL to deserve the supposed "offensive genius"/"QB guru" reputation.

Serving as Manning's glorified personal assistant in Denver doesn't count.

I think some have rightfully questioned how players will take his hardass personality as a HC. Awesome as a coordinator. But what about when you start losing a few. The good news is that with Reid he has the best training possible at not just leading players, but leading men. Im not sure how he'll do in the NFL. But if that doesn't work out I could see him falling back to college and being outstanding at it.

Agree that it's shocking Brendan Daly isn't a DC. Waiting for the super bowl isn't an excuse to pass up on an assistant. But their loss is our gain.

Would you want the Texans job? You have a good QB but BOB did a lot of damage to that roster and gave away all their draft picks. I think it depends on who they pick as GM but they don't have a lot to add talent to a declining team.

It wasn't his fault.

Ownership made him.

Dorsey is blameless. Greatest GM ever.

And help on the offensive line. And a bunch of albatross contracts. And no high draft picks.

Houston is in TERRIBLE shape.

If I got hired by the Texans, the first thing I would do is cut a ton of expensive stuff. Sadly, that might mean cutting JJ Watt before he plays the final year of his deal. Maybe trade him if there's a no-trade clause in his contract. If I had to eat dead cap for a year, I'd investigate jettisoning David Johnson, too. Fix all the mistakes and start fresh. You get that year of grace to rip off the bandaid and not get fired.

I hope for Bieniemy's sake, though, he finds a much sexier job out there. Hopefully a position with stable ownership and a complete lack of Patriot AIDS in the front office.

I'd take the Jets job before the Texans job, they have a shit ton of money tied up in dudes that are uncuttable while having no picks.

You are basically in a no win situation for 2 years minimum.

Yep.

The Texans job is worse than Detroit or New York. Think about that for a minute.

I still have respect for Dorsey and the role he played in pulling off the Mahomes trade up. He picked the right spot in the draft to trade up. He found the perfect team led by his old buddy Whalen in Buffalo whom he could easily scam. And he led a scouting staff that kept the whole thing quiet enough to not cause commotion until the trade up was complete and all we had to do was turn in the card. But I'm definitely not going to call him a genius GM or be afraid of him if he does somehow trick an owner into giving him another job.

Somebody the other day was afraid that the Broncos would hire Dorsey if Elway got fired. What is there to fear? Promoting the dumbass RB coach to head coach?

Sorce 10-06-2020 09:28 AM

There is the possibility the Falcons job becomes available. Is that one better? I think the GM in any situation makes the difference.

Dorsey made some good moves here in KC. He also made some terrible moves, especially with contracts.

As far as his stint in Cleveland, he had all kinds of high draft picks. Kind of hard to mess that up and yet he still drafted Baker.
