Would be terrible if that was a season ender for Kennedy

That was a solid trade. Especially in an awful trade market. It's not 2005 anymore, teams don't give up major prospects for rentals at all. The fact that Dayton got a pitcher with tremendous raw stuff and then an OF that was one of the Brewers top prospects for a couple months of Moose was terrific in that particular year's trade market.

Some of these trades you're basically taking fliers on guys. Especially when you consider the overall market for Moose was terrible for about 2 years and nobody wanted to sign him for anything. Look around that time... the Tigers traded JD Martinez who was one of the best power hitters in baseball, 40 homer guy, and haven't gotten anything major out of that trade. The rental market is just terrible anymore.

I hear ya, the Padres and White Sox are the last teams to really get true young players with real potential in trades.

I understand it's some catcher named Crash Davis...

I wonder this too,the guy just has been playing very well when given the chance.

I’m surprised they shipped Rosenthal out but that’s the type of return you target in a deal like this. You’re not finding a guy without flaws for a rental reliever, so taking a swing on a talented but blocked guy from a great system is a good move.

That prospects 365 breakdown is great and shows some of the swing changes that likely contributed to his breakout last year.

Re: Dayton Moore not doing well in these deals, NO ONE does well in midseason rental deals now. Teams are too cautious and hoard their guys.

I read the new guy has a 50 hit, 50 power rating. Hes more than what I expected to get. The PTBNL is probably really young.

Looks like Kennedy is unlikely to see playing time for a while. What's the play here? Do we bring up an experienced guy or do we let Lynch or Kower get a taste of the show in the bullpen?

Passan says it's a low level reliever.

Bring in Tony Pena Jr. I'm sure he is doing jack and shit besides honing his craft to become the most dominant bull pen arm since Ambiorix Burgos

@alec_lewis: Whoa. The Royals just announced they recalled 23-year-old RHP Carlos Hernandez from the alternate site. Big righty. Big power. Big breaker. Back of the bullpen type.

Today starts the 27 game win streak boys.

Hmmm wondering if Lynch and Kowar aren't looking very good at the alternate site or if they just want to avoid them being in the BP.
