I wouldn't.

If he leaves now, he's almost certainly a top 10 pick still. Maybe even top 5 depending on who shows out this year.

If he sticks around for another year and aggravates the injury, he could fall out of the first round altogether.

If he goes in the top 10, he has a guaranteed $7 million payday. Meanwhile if he works it all the way up to 5, he gets around $10. Top 3 starts to get bigger chunks at $12-16 million but if I got a top 10 grade, I'm not sure I'd risk $7 million to get $12. Especially when that contract is mostly the earnings floor for him. If he goes 10 and has a successful 4 year stretch, he'd be looking at a potential $100 million deal; tens of millions at the very least.

The stay/go decision is going to be based on the floor, IMO. And his floor is still 'not have to work again for the rest of his life' money.

I'd go.

It came close with the Blues but then they rebuilt and rebuilds are always fun to follow - THE PROMISE OF YOUTH AND A BRIGHT FUTURE!!! I've only ever managed to completely divest of a single rooting interest and that was Dale Earnhardt Jr. after he went to Hendrick. And that only stuck because 3 years later I didn't watch racing at all; simply didn't care anymore. Yet somehow when I was scrolling through twitter and saw that Martin Truex Jrs former teammate at DEI won the championship, I was oddly happy for him. For a recent, very similar comparison, look to Joel Embiid. It would have been a colossal mistake to stay - after the back injury it was foot surgery, and no one would have touched him with any serious thoughts he would have a long career.

Overall, I'm thinking this should be a good time for me to tap out of caring about sports.

It's a huge investment of time and emotional energy for a constant supply of anxiety, disappointment, and misery.

I said it when the Cardinals won the 2011 World Series, but I was too stupid to follow my own advice. It would never get better than that.

Since then, by rooting interests have been nothing but an unending series of disasters and tragedies. Deaths, injuries, murders, choke jobs, and collapses.

The Cardinals lost their best position prospect in 15 years to a ****ing drunk driving accident, blew a 3-1 lead in the NLCS to a shit team, lost to a Red Sox team (again) that sandwiched that title around last place finishes, and got totally surpassed by the ****ing Cubs. Meanwhile, every team since 2013 has gotten progressively worse.

Mizzou basketball cobbled together one inspired season from a group of jilted seniors, only to suffer the most embarrassing loss in the history of the program to the worst team that has ever won an NCAA tournament game, which they then followed up with a scandal only to then hire the worst coach arguably in Power 5 history. And when they finally do turn it around (it appears) the best player they've ever had, they best player they'll EVER have, a hometown kid with stellar character, blows out his back after two minutes.

And Mizzou football is perhaps the one to be most optimistic about, when the ceiling for the next half decade is probably second best team in a bad division.

But hey, maybe Drew Lock will stay around for his senior year and get drafted by the Browns so that they can ruin him. Or maybe he and Beckner will both declare and a ****ing asteroid will hit the training facility during their pro days so that they can be robbed of success at the next level, too.

Noticed you didn't mention the Chiefs hmm

KChiefs1 11-24-2017 10:25 AM

Chris Mullins is a head coach now?

petegz28 11-24-2017 11:17 AM

16pt lead now a 2pt deficit.....

petegz28 11-24-2017 11:22 AM

just getting whipped right now, flat out....

petegz28 11-24-2017 11:24 AM

SJU on fire...everything going down ..MU can't get out of their own way

petegz28 11-24-2017 11:39 AM

so SJU kicks our guy in the face right in front of the ref and no call...are you ****ing kidding me? Even the announcers call WTF....

petegz28 11-24-2017 11:51 AM

SJU could throw a shot up with their back to the goal and eyes closed and it would go in right now

petegz28 11-24-2017 12:06 PM

good job clawing back after pissing away a huge lead and getting down by 8 or so....SJU was hitting everything for most of the 2nd half...

Priest31kc 11-24-2017 12:39 PM

That was impressive. What a game, what a win.

Robertson, Barnett, Jontay, Puryear and Geist were fantastic. And down 58-50, Cuonzo switched to a zone and it changed the game. Great coaching. Clutch shooting. Calmed down and didn't turn it over really after that point either. Just a great win. And now we get a chance for another one vs UCF or WV Sunday night...

Titty Meat 11-24-2017 12:45 PM

This is a really underrated win fornyou guys. St. Johns is a good team they beat us by like 20. UCF is an interesting matchup they got a legit 7'6 center.

Take it from me, man. For as young as you guys are, that's going to be part of the process sometimes.

The fact that these 18-19 year olds didn't throw in the towel this month after MPJ went down speaks a lot about the potential of this team, imo.

It's not complaining. It's pointing out the obvious. A good team doesn't blow a 16 pt lead and if you blow a 16pt lead against a decent team you probably won't win.

Teams blow leads. It's basketball.

Warriors and Cavs were blowing all types of leads late last year. This Mizzou team is young and it's early in the year. I admire the resolve of Mizzou to comeback after being out scored by 24. A Kim Anderson team would have simply folded

Actually you see it a lot, especially in pre-season. A team gets a big lead then starts experimenting. Lineups. Rotations. Backups.

All part of the reason KU looks in trouble early every year but is fine by tourney.

Not troubled by blowing 16 pt lead.
Troubled that bleeding continued to 8 pt deficit.
Reassured by lack of panic & still winning by solid margin.

Let's see what Sunday brings.

Nope, it's complaining. Maybe you should start trying to think of a positive thing for every negative thing you complain about. ;)

You know, the old compliment sandwich.

phisherman 11-25-2017 09:24 AM

Oh, and good teams absolutely do blow leads at times. That's because a game of this nature involves two teams and sometimes the other team goes on a run and you just can't stop it.

KChiefs1 11-25-2017 09:34 AM

I guess I'll always wonder what this team could have been with Michael Porter Jr.

Oh well...

phisherman 11-25-2017 09:39 AM

Jontay seems to have filled the void, at least at this point. The team is enjoyable to watch and our talent level is still off the charts compared to last year.

That was the part that concerned me the most. This is the 2nd time where they've gotten out to a sizable lead then got a little complacent. Just want to see that get nipped. It's one thing when the other team starts bombing 3's like SJU did. It's another though when you start shooting yourself in the foot on 4-5 straight possessions. They will learn and I like the talent.

He looked good yesterday except one time he put up a 3 with like 20+ left on the shot clock. Would like to see him work the ball more inside. under 10 on the clock, sling it...over 20...work the ball around.
