I'm jealous, Lewdog. That's a great great deal. Not necessarily the selection I would've gone with, but the price is awesome.

Tonight I've just got some Maker's Mark going.

Finally found a liquor cabinet that fits our requirement. Must not be an eye sore, must hold tall bottles but not be too long and must be solid wood. We actually don't drink a ton (few drinks a week) but like to entertain and it was a pain asking people what they liked to drink and having to fish around in the pantry to tell them what we had. Plus storage was limited in the pantry space.

Actually found it at Costco. Solid Mango wood and heavy as shit. Holds even those really tall Kirkland 1.75L bottles of Vodka. Have almost 40 bottles in that picture and clearly room for more if needed. Cabinets to the left have all my drink glasses and this is on the side of the kitchen which also leads to the patio/pool area, so great for entertaining while not taking up a huge amount of space.

Stoli tonight, I've become veeery fond of this brand... its highly filtered like all of the premium brands, but it has a very unique flavor that none of the others have

Tito's is my second favorite these days, it just doesnt have any real flavor to it the way Stoli does... but I DO like the fact that they take steps to remove the conjeners, the absence of a true hangover is always noted when I have this brand

You're talking just regular Stoli vodka or the flavored Stoli?

Regular old Stoli

I've been on a premium vodka kick lately, and they're all good, well filtered etc, but basically flavorless... but Stoli is somehow able to filter theirs while still leaving in a unique flavor that none of the others have IMO

I just bought this. Says 6 times distilled and some say it's made by same company as Grey Goose.

I liked the price. :D

1.5 oz Hennessy V.S
.5 oz fresh lemon juice
4-5 blackberries
.5 oz simple syrup
1 dash of Cassis or another berry liqueur

then another mix of
1.5 oz Hennessy V.S
.5 oz fresh lime juice
.25 oz simple syrup
1 sprig of mint, muddled

Two cherries, simple syrup, dash of bitters, touch of 7-Up, and orange slice in glass, grind together.

Fill glass with small cubes of ice and top-off with generous slug of Brandy.

Garnish with Orange moon and cherry.

Serve.

I had two of these yesterday and they kicked my ass![U]

The Maharaja
DICTATOR SERIES
IMPERIAL INDIA PALE ALE
10.5% ABV
Maharaja is derived from the sanskrit words mahat, meaning “great”, and rajan, meaning “king”. Much like its namesake, this imperial IPA is regal, intense and mighty. With hops and malts as his servants, he rules both with a heavy hand. The Maharaja flaunts his authority over a deranged amount of hops: tangy, vibrant and pungent along with an insane amount of malted barley – fashioning a dark amber hue and exquisite malt essence. Welcome to his kingdom!

2" is perfect... But I'd go the way-hot cast iron skillet on the side burner route...

* Grape seed oil, with rosemary in the oil (near the end) brought up to very-hot degrees.
* 4 minutes on both sides
* 6-8 minutes in a 500-degree oven
* Let it sit for 5 minutes

Tell your friends you forgot to call them...

Always good. I sometimes go weeks without a touch of alcohol.

I don't drink during the week at all unless there's a social outing which is pretty rare. I really only have a few drinks on the weekend too if we are staying home. Unless we have a pool party....those things tend to make me lose count of what's happening.

Agreed on the Grand Marnier. I don't always have it because it's so expensive.

And yes on the Margs, as long as it's made correctly. Everyone seems to think it needs some crappy Margarita Mix. A good margarita shouldn't need any of that sugary bullshit!

Yes times a hundred. Margarita mix is nasty.

I really, really miss Canada Dry's Collins mix they used to make but stopped producing. I loved drinking those mixed with vodka in the summertime on a hot day.

I cannot get a good Vodka Collins anywhere, always too sweet.

Anyone know a great Collins mix or have a sure fire recipe?

There's also Highwater campfire stout. It's on the sweeter side, it's a bit more popular you may have heard of it. It has a hint of coffee/roasted taste. It's not as good as the james bean but worth a try.
