six people brawl with a toddler tagged along

"A brawl broke out at Edison Mall in Fort Myers on Sunday afternoon during the busy holiday shopping season.

The graphic video shows a group of people punching and kicking one another, and a woman pushing a child’s stroller appears and kicks one of the women in the head.

She then leaves the baby off to the side as she goes running.

Fort Myers Police said they were called at about 4:30 p.m. on Sunday for a disturbance of peace call at the mall. When officers arrived, the scene had already broken up, but approximately two hours later, police were called back regarding apparent injuries stemming from the fight.

In a police report, two victims were identified as 20-year-old Marlesha Williams and 18-year-old Verdasia Eleaby. They said they were attacked by people who believe they were related to the shooting death of Samuel Jones in Lehigh Acres.

The two women allege they were punched, kicked, spat upon and had their hair pulled during the fight. Williams and Eleaby both sustained injuries as a result, and the police report said they wanted to press charges.

The police report indicates there were six suspects responsible for the women’s injuries, however, police did not release their identities.

The mall’s general manager, Ruben Irizarry, said he had no comment on the matter as of Monday morning as they were still gathering information."

Snow flurries are falling as far south as Tallahassee, Florida, where officials were forced to close a section of Interstate 10 due to icy conditions.

The National Weather Service predicted snow flurries across a swath of northern Florida, from Tallahassee to Jacksonville, on Wednesday morning. Accumulations were not expected.

On its Twitter account, The Tallahassee Police Department warned motorists that ice could form on bridges early Wednesday.

The weather service in Tallahassee tweeted that there's 0.1 inch (0.25 centimeter) of snow on the roof of the building.

Schools in at least five districts canceled classes on Wednesday as well. In Tallahassee, students were supposed to return from winter break, but got another day thanks to the weather. Also in the Orlando area, theme parks closed water attractions due to cold weather.

Martin County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Maeli Aguilar-Alvarez, of Indiantown, Florida, in mid-December for shoplifting “a full rack of ribs,” two packs of hamburger buns, nine pieces of fried chicken and an unspecified quantity of mashed potatoes from a grocery store, the TC Palm uncovered earlier this week.

Law enforcement spotted the culprit when he removed the aforementioned ribs from his pants just outside the Rines Market IGA. Police charged the alleged thief with retail theft of the groceries valued at $32.49.

Although only the ribs were cited as inside his trousers, it begs the question: What spectacular pair of pants could fit a full rack of ribs, two packs of hamburger buns, nine pieces of fried chicken and an unspecified quantity of mashed potatoes? Can we purchase this at REI? Furthermore, where is the best placement for ribs inside your pants? Front or back?

Aguilar-Alvarez reportedly smelled of alcohol. His pants, we would presume, smelled far more delicious.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — A fourth person has died in Florida after being struck by a new high-speed train.

Boynton Beach police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater Police said Wednesday the train struck a bicyclist. No other details were released.

Just days earlier, as the new Brightline train was offering preview runs before its debut, it struck and killed a 32-year-old woman who was crossing the tracks. Witnesses told police the woman tried to make it across after the guard rails were down, attempting to beat the train.

The Brightline train began its service Saturday running between Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. It will expand to take passengers from Miami to Orlando.

A woman was struck in July in Boca Raton in an apparent suicide, and another woman was hit in Deerfield Beach.

TALLAHASSEE, Florida - Daylight Saving Time may soon be abolished in the Sunshine State if Florida lawmakers pass proposed legislation to put an end to the practice of setting clocks back and forward every six months.

Florida House Bill 1013 and its companion Florida Senate Bill 858 both passed committees and will now move to a vote before the entire legislative branches.

Unlike northern states in the continental U.S. that only experience around 9 hours of daylight during the shortest days of Winter, Florida has over 10 hours of daylight during the shortest day of the year - the Winter Solstice.

If the bills pass both legislative branches and Governor Rick Scott signs 'The Sunshine Protection Act' into law, Florida would then ask the U.S. Congress for an exemption to Daylight Savings Time, which has already been granted to the sunny states Arizona and Hawaii.

History of Daylight Saving Time

Daylight Savings Time started in Europe during World War I as a way to economize fuel usage. The United States started Daylight Savings Time a year after WWI ended in 1918.

Benjamin Franklin did not propose Daylight Saving Time. This misconception grew out of the proverb "Early to bed, and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise" that was published in Franklin's Poor Richards' Almanac.

How to Correctly Spell and Say Daylight Saving Time

Is it "Daylight Savings Time" or "Daylight Saving Time"? The correct term is without the "s" but the added "s" has become widely used in the United States.

Daylight Saving Time Bad For Your Health

Losing an hour of sleep is bad for your health, studies find. The overall rate for stroke was 8% higher and heart attacks 10% higher in the days following the daylight saving time change.

I would love it if Kansas gave me back an extra hour of daylight in the evenings during winter.

TAMPA, Fla. —

A woman who visited Hamburger Mary’s in Tampa is suing the establishment for $1.5 million after, she said, she was injured by a drag queen’s breast.

According to the complaint, Neldin Molina said she was with other guests and family members at the restaurant for dinner in May of 2015 to celebrate a friend’s birthday.

The suit said Molina was unaware of the drag queen show until music began playing and she heard someone at another table mention the show, the complaint said.

Molina, sitting with her back to the table, watched the show before turning back around and continuing to eat and socialize with her friends.

When Molina turned around again, she said performer Amanda D’Hod pointed at her and began to walk toward her table. In the complaint, Molina said she turned back around, not wishing to draw attention to herself.

Amanda D’Hod, the complaint alleges, touched Molina’s shoulder and then walked in front of her and grabbed her head. The complaint said the performer then “wiggled her breast against the Plaintiff’s face and head eight times.”

The performer allegedly grabbed Molina’s face and pushed it and shook it several times before pounding it against D’Hod’s chest violently.

The complaint said Molina began to experience a headache and neck pain and told the manager what had happened.

Molina later went to the emergency room at Memorial Hospital of Tampa for cervical pain and uncontrollable headaches, the complaint said.

Molina is seeking $1.5 million for medical costs and expenses for the past, present and future, as well as for pain she suffered physically and mentally. The complaint also states that the restaurant failed to advise anyone of possible danger.

ROFL

Nightclub Shuts Down After Woman and Midget Ride Horse Into Crowd Of Partygoers

The city of Miami Beach shut down a nightclub on Friday after video surfaced showing a woman in a bikini riding a spooked horse into a crowd of people.

The incident happened at the Mokai Lounge sometime between Wednesday evening and the early morning hours of Thursday, according to a city document obtained by HuffPost.

Attendees at the event recorded the commotion and posted footage to social media. One video showed a man trying to pull the seemingly resistant horse into the club as a man and woman ride on top of the animal. A second video shows the woman on the horse amid a tightly packed crowd of people. The horse throws the woman off before slowly walking through the crowd as people cheer.

City Manager Jimmy Morales revoked the club’s business license on Friday, The Miami Herald reports. A city press release cites the incident as being a hazard to public safety and possible animal cruelty.

The woman seen in the video “appeared to be an employee from the club, but that’s still under investigation,” Miami Beach spokeswoman Melissa Berthier told HuffPost.

The Miami Beach Police tweeted on Friday that authorities had found the horse seen in the video and that the it was “deemed to be healthy and safe.”

May have been an edit after you read the article, but this is telling:

Late Thursday, came the first definitive word from a government official about what was being done on the bridge when it fell. U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-FL, said in a Twitter post that: “The cables that suspend the #Miami bridge had loosened & the engineering firm ordered that they be tightened. They were being tightened when it collapsed today.”

If the suspending cables pass through the concrete, makes me wonder if they snapped during the tests & the whole structure was tgen supported by just the concrete.

Great shades of the T-Dance skywalk collapse.

It doesn't look to be a support problem in the sense most think.
It's looking to be a problem of lay construction crew not realizing the consequence of their actions.
This is post-tensioned concrete, and while the tensioning steel was probably well-rated to carry the load asked of it under the construction plan, it had a brittle failure when the construction plan was altered in a way that placed the tensioning steel under unforeseen stress.

The best lay analogy I can think of if you tried to winch your friend's car out of a ditch. Suppose you use the appropriate winch and attach it at the approropriate points, but you don't notice that there is a curb at the edge of the ditch that the wheels have to travel over. Then, when the wheels hit the curb they snag, you're suddenly lifting the entire car off the ground, placing exponentially higher stress on the configuration than you would be simply pulling the car up an incline out of the ditch.

The original plans were for the moving supports to distribute the load differently, and the alteration created a high-stress area in the span while it was being placed. Then they noticed the flexion and sought to correct it by tightening the tension steel. This put the steel into failure range, but the gauges couldn't tell the worker's that, because as the tension steel approaches brittle failure, it stretches slightly so that additional tension doesn't create additional pressure, kind of like a rubber band at the end of its elastic range.

The failure to see the consequence of the change in construction plans is one thing, the decision to attempt to repair while suspended over active traffic is another entirely.

There was a lot of news this past weekend, so you might have missed that item about the Florida woman who married a tree.
It happened Saturday in Fort Myers, and it appeared to be a rather traditional wedding, complete with a ring bearer, a bride in a white gown, flowers, music, and a wedding cake that had the words, “Higher Love” on it.

It was an outdoor wedding, which I guess happens a lot when one of the participants is a tree, especially a giant ficus tree with an 8,000-square-foot canopy.

The bride, Karen Cooper, married the tree three days before its fate was scheduled to be decided by the city’s Beautification Advisory Board, according to the Fort Myers News-Press.

The city had earmarked $13,000 to chop down the 100-year-old tree because even though it was planted on public property, its roots and branches had meandered onto a piece of private land which was the subject of a sale, the newspaper reported.

Cooper, like many of her neighbors, have enjoyed the shade and look of the big tree in Snell Family Park. After the city’s public works department gave the green light on removal, Cooper took matters into her own hands.

Would she? Yes, she wood.

She vowed to be faithful to the tree until death do them part. Which could be Tuesday.

“If they cut down this tree, I’m going to be a widow,” Cooper told the newspaper, sounding very much like the sappy one in this relationship.

Then again, her limb beau is in limbo.

It’s not the first time a Florida woman has turned to marriage with a non-human partner to make a point.

Seven years ago, shortly after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the landmark Citizens United case that corporations have new rights that had previously only been available to people, Sarah “Echo” Steiner of Lake Worth announced that she was looking to marry a corporation.

“It would be an open marriage,” Steiner said. “I don’t think I could keep a whole corporation satisfied.”

Steiner, a former co-chair of the Green Party of Florida, said she’d be weighing how her corporate suitors behaved “in past mergers” and that, yes, she was looking forward to having “subsidiaries” some day.

Compared to a corporation, a tree seems like a much more suitable partner.

If Cooper’s wedding ceremony ends up stalling or eliminating the tree’s demise to the big wood chipper in the sky, this could turn out to be one of those precedent-setting stories.

Not that the state of Florida would recognize such a marriage. But if conducting a symbolic public wedding turns out to be a cure for saving endangered elements of Florida’s natural beauty, there’s no telling where this will lead.

As in, “Mom and Dad, I would like you to meet the man-atee in my life.”

Or, “By the power invested in me by the Audubon Society, you may now peck the beak of the Florida grasshopper sparrow.”

Estuaries and wetlands will be snapped up like Palm Beach trust-fund race-car drivers. And the label of “tree hugger” will no longer be a strong enough expression to describe these new nuptials.

Let’s face it, women can do a lot worse than marrying a tree. Florida has the seventh-highest divorce rate in the country, and for those who are married three times, the divorce rate in that third marriage is about 73 percent.

So rather than looking for Mr. Right on try No. 4, it might be worth transitioning to something deciduous rather than duplicitous.

Sure, there are disadvantages. Trees never pick up after themselves. And who wants shrubs at your age, or a 100-year-old spouse with no sign of dying anytime soon?

But if you’re into the strong, silent type who will always be there, no matter which way the wind blows, well, then you might be ready for a tree.

Good luck, Mrs. Ficus. We’re rooting for you very mulch.

A Florida woman reportedly in a “romantic sexual relationship” with her brother was charged after giving birth to his baby, officials said. Pauline Elizabeth Martin, 33, told investigators she and her brother were living as a couple in Groveland when she became pregnant with his child, the Orlando Sentinel reported. Authorities said they began investigating the woman, who is a McDonald’s cashier, after the baby was born Nov. 21 with “severe medical problems.” The newborn was immediately transferred to get specialized care at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, where genetic testing revealed the parents were related, the Daily Commercial reported. Neither parent completed the information .

A woman in Florida who was arrested on suspicion of drug possession claimed cocaine found on her must have flown into her purse because it was a windy day.

Kennecia Posey, 26, said she had no idea how the drug was found on her after she was pulled over by Fort Pierce police on March 21, reports WPLG.

“I don't know anything about any cocaine,” she told officers, according to a police report on the incident. “It’s a windy day. It must have flown through the window and into my purse.”

Posey was one of two people in the car when it was pulled over by police after it was seen swerving on the road.

The officers searched the vehicle after smelling marijuana as they approached. During the search, officers found bags of cocaine and marijuana inside Posey’s purse.

Posey admitted the marijuana was hers, but maintained she had no idea how the cocaine ended up inside her purse.

The 26-year-old was arrested and was charged with a felony count of cocaine possession and a misdemeanor count of marijuana possession. She was later released on bond.

In November, two teenage boys in Sydney, Australia, were found with more than 40 bags of cocaine stuffed into their car's doors. They claimed they were just out to go fishing, despite not having any rods.

The 17- and 18-year-old males said it was a "big surprise" when the bags of cocaine were found hidden inside their Mazda 3's door panel and denied they were about to go on a cocaine run.

“We were going to [Sydney suburb] Ryde but came in here instead to go fishing,” the 17-year-old suspect told The Sunday Telegraph.

The pair were later charged with a series of drug offences.

St. Pete man on LSD punches 13-year-old girl in face, knocks her out

http://www.wfla.com/news/pinellas-co...out/1133767051

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) - Pinellas County deputies have charged a St. Petersburg man with aggravated child abuse after he punched a 13-year-old girl, causing her to lose consciousness.

According to the sheriff's office, the incident occurred around 3 p.m. Saturday at a Race Trac gas station, located at 2551 54th Avenue North in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

Kolbe Smith, 27, allegedly struck the victim in the face, unprovoked.

Smith hit the victim with such a force, she lost consciousness and fell to the ground.

Deputies say the girl's mother witnessed the assault.

Several citizens stood outside of the store and would not let Smith leave after the incident.

The first deputy to arrive tried to put Smith in custody, but he refused.

Deputies used a Taser on Smith, as he would not comply.

The 13-year-old girl was treated at the scene by EMS and was released to her parents, who took her to the hospital.

Deputies took Smith into custody after he was taken to the hospital for a laceration on his head.

When Smith was questioned by deputies, he denied having any recollection of the incident and admitted to taking the drug LSD.

Smith is charged with one count of aggravated child abuse, violation of probation felony battery and resisting arrest without violence.

A Florida man interested in karate is alleged to have found an elusive and illegal target for his kicks: bird faces. Last week, the Orlando Sentinel reported that Rocco Joseph Mantella was arrested for “practicing karate” by kicking swans in the head at a park in downtown Orlando, and further details of his arrest—which were first published by the Bloody Elbow—are wild.

According to an Orange County (Fla.) arrest affidavit, Mantella was spotted by a few witnesses around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, kicking a bunch of animals. Someone saw him kick one swan in the head and another in the butt while “practicing karate.” His kicks were enough to knock one swan down, and a witness said he was kicking “as hard as possible.” Mantella also apparently targeted a small duck enjoying a morning nap. When one witness saw what he was doing, he apparently began to laugh at her.

Mantella was charged with one count of cruelty to animals, which carries a maximum sentence of six months in Florida.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. —

A 95-year-old grandmother in Florida was arrested Saturday after police said she slapped her granddaughter in face with her slipper before calling 911 to get her out of the house.

According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, Hattie Reynolds told police her granddaughter, Janeen Williams, 46, would not get out of bed, and that she was "tired of her staying in bed all day soaking up the air conditioning."

When officers arrived at the home, Williams told police she did not want to press charges, but because of "strict domestic violence laws" Reynolds was arrested.

According to a Florida statute, police officers have the ability to determine if an arrest is needed in a domestic violence instance once probable cause is established.

"If your wife reported that you threatened to hit her, you would be arrested because that is a domestic violence assault," police Chief Craig Capri told the News-Journal. "I just feel bad for her but the officers did their job as required by the law."

Reynolds was booked in the Volusia County Jail and released the next day on her own recognizance.

Largo couple steals motorized shopping cart from Walmart

A joyride in a motorized shopping cart landed a Largo couple behind bars on Thursday.

Security cameras were rolling when Jeffrey Robert Sabiel, 50, and Santa Marie Walters, 32, stole a motorized shopping cart from a Walmart located on Missouri Ave. in Largo, according to an affidavit.

The couple was seen driving off the property and heading west on Rosery Road. News Channel 8 has not obtained the video in question.

Shortly after the theft was reported, the cart was spotted outside Jimmy's Sports Bar in Largo and an officer found the couple at the bar.

After denying the theft, the couple admitted to taking the cart and was arrested on charges of grand theft.

They were both booked into the Pinellas County Jail

A Florida man climbed atop a piece of equipment at a Clearwater Beach playground Sunday and yelled at a bunch of children in the area.

Police took Otis Dawayne Ryan, 30, into custody on a charge of disorderly conduct. The incident occurred about 3 p.m. Sunday at a park in the area of Pier 60.

A man is accused of attacking a deaf couple and their service dog while they were travelling on a plane headed toward Orlando.

The incident happened as Matthew Silvay, 30, and Hazel Ramirez, 21, were on Frontier Flight 1752 as it left Colorado Springs on its way to Orlando on May 17, according to an Orlando Police Department incident report.
Ramirez, who is 20 weeks pregnant, and Silvay were also travelling with their service dog, a Great Dane named Zariel. When the plane was descending, Petrini Manley, 56, complained to her husband Timothy Manley, 59, that she was allergic to dogs, the arrest report read.

And as the plane landed and headed toward the gate, Zariel woke up and stood up.

"The larger service animal took up more space than Timothy felt it deserved and punched it with a closed fist, causing it to yelp," the arrest report read. "The dog Zariel shook her head and went under a seat."
The couple became upset and "began yelling at Timothy as best they could," the arrest report read. That’s when Timothy Manley "reacted by getting in Matthew’s face" and punching Hazel in the stomach at some point, police said.
The conflict spilled into the airport terminal as a flight attendant contacted law enforcement. Silvay told law enforcement that he tackled Timothy Manley and held him down until they arrived. All people involved in the incident refused medical attention, police said.

The FBI is looking into the incident, and Ramirez plans to press charges. It’s unclear what charges Timothy Manley will face, according to the arrest report.

Social media users were horrified following a viral video that showed a woman shaving her legs at a public pool in Florida.

The video showed an unidentified woman sitting by the edge of a pool, shaving her legs as children swam nearby. The children did not appear to notice the quick shave.

https://youtu.be/mjCOqiWogok

The people who captured the moment on video were heard saying, “Oh my God! This lady is shaving in the pool!”

“I hope she don’t shave her hoo-ha next!” the woman recording was heard saying.

Fortunately, the video cut off at that time. The video was uploaded to Reddit on Monday where it received more than 55,000 upvotes and 1,600 comments. However, the post was later locked which barred people from adding additional comments or upvotes.

“Of course this happened in Florida. It’s the trashiest state in the union,” one social media user wrote.

“Yeah I used to work at a public pool and for whatever reason they attract the worst of humanity. I would never swim in a public pool after that experience,” another person wrote.

It was not immediately clear where the public pool was located or if there were any rules posted by the pool. The Orlando Sentinel reported Florida has “extensive statutes regarding pool safety” which include swimmers to bathe before entering a pool and “no spitting or bodily fluids in the pool.” However, there appear to be no statutes against shaving in a pool.

Police: Woman Named Crystal Methvin Arrested For Having Crystal Meth

https://cbstampa.files.wordpress.com...pg?w=240&h=300

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (CBS Local) – A Florida woman’s name made for an interesting police report in St. Augustine, particularly since it happened to match the crime she’s accused of committing.

Forty-year-old Crystal Methvin was taken into custody after being charged with possession of crystal meth, according to the St. Augustine Police Department. Methvin was arrested on May 26 after officers got a tip that a woman was sitting in a car on the side of a local highway.

When police arrived, Methvin only had a Florida ID card and didn’t have her driver’s license. As officers searched the car they reportedly discovered crystal meth in a plastic bag in Methvin’s purse.

More unused plastic bags were allegedly found in Methvin’s purse, leading police to believe the suspect was selling the drugs, according to WJAX. The St. Augustine woman faces a third degree felony charge for possession of meth.

She’s being held in jail on $5,000 bond.

Crystal Methvin’s alleged crystal meth was taken by officers as evidence.

1:48 PM PT — According to dispatch audio — the incident was a possible drive-by — dispatchers named several possible getaway vehicles including a black Dodge Journey, Chevy Tahoe and a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The Broward Co. Fire Dept. tells us XXX has been rushed to a hospital. Witnesses say they heard multiple shots fired. His condition is unknown at this point.

The 20-year-old rapper was shopping for motorcycles in Miami and, as he was leaving the motorcycle dealer, a gunman ran up to his vehicle and shot him.

XXX was in his share of feuds … but as far as we know there were no ominous fights between him and anyone else.

He’s had serious legal trouble … he’s awaiting trial for domestic violence against his pregnant girlfriend. He’s facing more than a dozen felony charges. Prosecutors accused him of witness tampering.”

TAMPA, Fla. — A political argument on Facebook led to a 44-year-old Florida man driving to the home of a stranger he'd been arguing with and shooting him.

Now Brian Sebring faces felony charges of aggravated battery and carrying a concealed gun. Sebring tells the Tampa Bay Times he "just snapped and let primal rage take over" on Monday.

Sebring says he was responding to a felon who wanted to share his political opinions even though he'd lost the right to vote. He says Alex Stephens took the fight to private messenger, where it escalated.

Police say Stephens was shot in the thigh and buttocks and was treated at a hospital. Sebring spotted a police officer on his way home and turned himself in.

Sebring says he's ruined his life "all because of some keyboard gangsters."

A Florida man is accused of threatening a co-worker with a box cutter over an argument about Christian music.

Caleb Taylor Robinson, 26, was at a warehouse on Big Pine Key where he and a co-worker were cooking hamburgers, drinking beer, and listening to music. Deputies said Robinson demanded the music be changed to Christian music, but his co-worker refused. That's when Robinson used a box cutter to threaten the man, according to the report.

The victim retreated to the bathroom and called 911. While in the bathroom, Robinson beat the door and caused about $200 - $400 in damage, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies found Robinson on the side of the warehouse sleeping in the backseat of a car. The deputy said Robinson claimed he would "prophesize hell onto" the deputy for shining his flashlight at him. Other deputies heard Robinson say he would "prophesize all the pain for hell," on them.

Robinson then preceded to tell deputies he had visions that his co-worker would be injured badly on a construction job. Then he said he would slit the man's throat and throw him into a wood chipper. Robinson claimed the victim's actions caused Satan to manifest inside him.

Robinson was arrested.

Mr. Plow 08-29-2018 10:29 AM

Partying with Robinson sounds like quite the ordeal. You never know what's going to happen.... slit your throat; listen to music; prophesize all the pain in hell on you; drink a beer; see you die in an accident.

Florida couple built drive-thru window at mobile home to sell drugs: cops

http://a57.foxnews.com/images.foxnew....jpg?ve=1&tl=1

A Florida couple was arrested last week after they were caught allegedly selling drugs out of a drive-thru window they constructed out of the side of their mobile home.

William Parrish Jr. and McKenzee Dobbs of Ocala, Florida, were arrested on August 23 after investigators raided their mobile home following reports of four drug overdoses in the area, WFTV reported.

Ocala Police said the couple had turned a kitchen window into a drive-thru so customers would not have to constantly enter and exit their home, potentially drawing unwanted attention, WFTV reported. The house had signs directing people where to drive and indicated whether it was open or closed, police said.

“We were seeing some overdose incidents that were happening in this particular area, specifically at this particular location,” said Ocala Police Capt. Steven Cuppy. “There [were] some heroin sales that were going on there. Subsequently, through the investigation, we were able to determine that product was laced with fentanyl.”

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dl4UojoXsAAqZay.jpg

Parrish, 32, was charged with driving under the influence, keeping a dwelling used to sell drugs, possession of drugs with intent to sell and resisting arrest without violence, according to Marion County Sheriff’s Office inmate records.

Dobbs, 20, has been charged with keeping a dwelling used to sell drugs, possession of drugs with intent to sell, possession of fentanyl and possession of fentanyl with intent to sell, court records show.

William Parrish Sr. told WFTV his son had been “trying to get himself straightened out” and maintained reports of overdoses were a “lie.”

Ocala is located inland, about 66 miles west of Daytona Beach.

Priest on Priest in Miami Beach?
https://www.local10.com/news/florida...ach-police-say

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - One of the two Catholic priests who Miami Beach Police Department officers found having oral sex in a parked car on Ocean Drive in South Bech walked out of jail on Tuesday afternoon.

Miami-Dade County corrections officers released Diego Berrio, a 39-year-old priest with the Mission of San Juan Diego in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Edwin Giraldo Cortez, a 30-year-old priest from Soacha, Colombia, who served at the St. Aloysius Parish in Chicago, remained in custody.

"It is our responsibility to ensure those who serve our people are fit for ministry," said Anne Maselli, a spokeswoman for the Archdiocese of Chicago. "We take this matter very seriously."

Miami-Dade prosecutors charged both men with lewd and lascivious behavior. Giraldo Cortez, who reportedly served at the church in Chicago for a month, was also charged with indecent exposure.

It was easy for a police officer to spot Berrio and Giraldo Cortez about 3:30 p.m., because their black Volkswagen Beetle didn't have tinted windows, according to the police report.

The rental car was parked on Ocean Driver in front of Lummus Park and the Art Deco hotels, between 13th and 14th Streets.

A Florida Inmate Reportedly Ripped His Cellmate's Eyes Out After Strangling Him
Officers reportedly didn't notice anything was wrong until the inmate walked into the cafeteria with his victim's ear on a necklace.

The Miami Herald, citing multiple prison sources, reported that the gruesome killing occurred Thursday morning in a building separate from the main facility at Columbia Correctional Institution, where hours later a battle between two rival gangs armed with knives and other weapons erupted.

The inmate who was killed was identified as 58-year-old Larry Mark, who was also listed in prison records as being deceased as of Thursday. Mark, who had been at the prison since 1982, was serving a life sentence for murder, records show.u

Prison officials, however, declined to comment to the Miami Herald on how Mark died or identity his attacker.

The prison and the Florida Department Of Corrections also did not immediately respond to BuzzFeed News' request for comment. However, sources told the Herald that the attacker had become irritated with Mark before killing him and mutilating his body, leaving his eyeballs in a cup to consumer later before going to breakfast.

Columbia Correctional Institution
Only two officers were patrolling Mark's dorm at the time of his death, according to the Herald

The Florida Department Of Corrections (FDC) released a statement saying that 10 inmates at Columbia were involved in an altercation the same day, four of whom had to be taken to the hospital.

In a statement to the Herald, the FDC would not elaborate on Mark's death, but said an investigation had been launched.

"Any loss of life at the hands of an inmate is intolerable, and we are working with our partners at FDLE to investigate this death and ensure anyone responsible is held accountable to the fullest extent of the law," a spokesperson said.

According to the Herald, a potent mix of problems — staffing cuts, growing violence, the introduction of synthetic marijuana and inexperienced guards — has left Florida prisons struggling to adequately inspect cells for weapons and contraband, let alone control inmates
