Moral of the story, don't whiff on draft picks.

At least those "whiffs" along with Richie didn't cost us much.

With that track history I'm shocked that people look at Hollywood and don't see the potential for a $15M whiff.

No, I'm simply saying that Matt Lane RT'd him because he's been nailing shit. That's it.

Who gives a **** where he was drafted?

Based on his career you could argue he had no business being drafted in R1.

You guys are HOPING he can be something that he either hasn't shown to date, or has only shown with a MASSIVE amount of targets.

He's 3rd in the pecking order at best here. He's not getting 120-150 targets. And that's what he needs to show ANY semblance of success.

I honestly think if the guy didn't run 4.3 FIVE years ago literally no one would care about this guy.

Waiting for you to acknowledge DJ's much better statistical analysis but I figure I'll be waiting awhile there.

You do realize guys usually get a little faster in the league right? And burners don't lose that step until they're into their 30s? LMAO That point is shitty bath water.

Love this if true. Hollywood is the perfect compliment to Rice. Now sign a veteran left tackle and we are going BPA in the draft.

All those deep balls that Mecole Hardman seemed to either lose in the lights or just flat out didnt see...yeah those are explosive plays and touchdowns woth Hollywood. Elite ball tracking ability.

They were expecting a jump from him. We don’t need to refill that role. We just need a better player that does more to help the offense.

The MVS role is EXACTLY why people are advocating for Hollywood - someone to stretch the field and threaten the DB's.

O.city 03-13-2024 09:06 AM

No, not just the "run fast" MVS role.

Do that, get open, throw him the ball. Big plays and all will follow.

staylor26 03-13-2024 09:06 AM

I think he RT'd him because of this:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Credit to young Rickey Steinberg over here: <a href="https://twitter.com/PrettyRickey213?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@PrettyRickey213</a> worth a follow folks!</p>&mdash; Wesley Steinberg (@WesSteinberg) <a href="https://twitter.com/WesSteinberg/status/1767302418881036663?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 11, 2024</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

The pick in itself did, because it made them have to go pay someone. So the whiffs, in the long run, cost alot.

Shit - I was hoping someone would. That's why I brought it over here.

But I guess nobody wants to actually talk about Hollywood Brown but instead bitch about Twitter?

Maybe if he actually signs we'll get some dialogue there but oh well. Thought it merited some level of discourse as it seemed relevant to me anyway. I suspect there are makeable rebuttals that I wouldn't mind getting a chance to ponder.

I'm not in love with Hollywood Brown here - but I think there are some strengths he brings to the party and if anyone would like to attack those, be my guest so we can actually refine this whole thing a bit...

And again, they don't have to pay $15M to get the production they want out of the 3rd option in the passing offense.

Yes, but Brown has more versatility. MVS is just a guy who perenially is amongst the top ADOT guys in the league.

Being a guy who can take a top off the defense is nice when it’s not the only thing you are competent at (and MVS clearly was not even that this season).

I mean, if you want to argue semantics, the MVS contract was a whiff as far as production, especially when you consider last year. MVS only saved himself with some big postseason catches.
